every rumor holds a shred of truth. daft and tactless, sure, but victor is hardly careless. for a mission of this caliber, he came prepared, readied for the worst. lined from neck to toe is virus' new tech. he's barely recognizable underneath the DOMINATOR. but that won't be a problem. no one needs to know him by face. the tech itself is flashy enough to serve as his identification. the VIRUSBALLS that hung from his waist line served as a stark reminder. they're here for business.
well, one of them is. victor held his position outside the ruins, hidden from plain sight deep in the ruin's foliage. only other virus members would be able to spot him easily, using the tracking units in their equipment to locate each other. his idle time was spent reviewing gardevoir's pokedex entry, digesting all he could about its TRACE ability. on paper it didn't seem so frightening, but professor sloane had personally placed this bounty.
must mean something, right?

Oh my. Oh dear. Oh goodness. A mission directly from Professor Sloane. The Professor Sloane. Wow. It was...Amazing. It was amazing to think that his actions would directly benefit such a technological genius. His actions here in the ruins would directly benefit one of the great minds of this generation in his research. Maybe, just maybe he would get to directly speak with him regarding the research this mission was related to. What could he want with this particular gardevoir? The virus grunt had done his fair share of research on the pokemon before setting out on this mission, and it did't seem unusual for them to have this ability. So why mention it so specifically?
Before he knew it Yoizuki had arrived at the ruins, the realization coming as a surprise to him. It seemed that he was so lost in thought that he totally lost track of time. Luckily he managed to avoid getting lost. With a deep breath the giant of a man would slide his glove off, revealing a hand covered in the black material of a Dominator Suit. Luckily he always covered every inch of his skin, wearing his jacket, gloves and even his scarf despite the sunny summer weather. Though this extra layer was just a bit uncomfortable it was well worth it. He needed every advantage he could get during this operation. There was no telling how important this was for Team Virus.
It didn't take long for him too locate Victor on the holographic map the suit projected, the man hiding himself deep within the foliage near the entrance. Yoizuki stared into the bushes, his entire body trembling with anticipation as he slid the glove back on to his hand. "H-hello? I am uh...I am here for the mission? You are for the mission too yes?" It seemed that in his nervous state the thought that his mission partner was hiding for a good reason never crossed his mind. Though he was at least aware enough to speak in a hushed tone, hopefully ensuring that any random passerby wouldn't catch his words. "Are you ready to being because I am so very ready assuming you are of course I do not mind waiting if you are not ready yet."

was this kid serious? victor could tell by his voice, the the tremble that comes with repetition, that he was anything but experienced. what else would he be doing? the suit is exclusive to their team, undiscovered, unreplicated. whatever. that doesn't matter. he hadn't expected any real help from whoever they sent. backup was just a contingency plan. one that wouldn't be needed if everything went as expected.
victor feels the anticipation too. the way he displays it is different. a clenched fist is more subtle, more quiet. "talk less. ten words or less." that's the only warning he give yoizuki before jumping forward. it's not about staying hidden, it's about not being a distraction. from here, victor springs out from their spot, charging into the ruins head first.

The grunt tucked his lips into his mouth and bit down on them as his partner scolded him for speaking too much. Oh dear. The mission had yet to even begin and already he managed to be a bother to the one he was supposed to work with. Head bobbed quickly, making no move to release his lips as he did his best to comply. Unfortunately he wouldn't be able to contain himself as the man suddenly jumped out of the bushes, the sudden movement shocking the already on edge giant. Yoi took a step back and put his hands up as if he were expecting an attack, mouth opening to let out a frightened whimper as he instinctively flinched. It was clear by the very next moment that his instincts were lying to him, as the Victor would start making his way toward the ruins rather than wasting time with his partner.
The hacker would gasp in shock as his clumsy legs would awkwardly scramble to turn around and chase after the man. Long strides would allow him to catch up to the Victor without much issue, keeping pace from there and positioning himself directly behind him. It was clear who would be taking point in this operation. "Should...Should I have my pokemon out now or wait-" Oh no! His words stopped suddenly, teeth clenching as he cut himself off. That was already ten words! The grunt's gaze would drop down to the ground as he continued after Victor, already seeming to be defeated. He was going to have to be much more careful with his wording in the future if he was going to properly communicate with his partner. Unfortunately concise communication was never his strong suit.

victor didn't stop. not so much as a pause. stay moving, don't stop. the moment you do is when you're most vulnerable. those were the rules of combat, the laws to live by. "only if they don't slow down." he whispers between steps. that much should be obvious, no? the more you have out the more liabilities you bring onto the field. to the average trainer, it might not be obvious, but in the line of work? definitely.

As glad as Yoi was to get a response from Victor, it only seemed to raise more questions in the grunt's mind. Would any of his pokemon be able to keep pace with them? He was not so sure, since they were all slower and more defensive. But more importantly what were the rules of conversation here? Was he allowed ten more words now that he had received a response or did he already spend all ten of the words he had been budgeted for this mission? He wanted to ask, but doing so would only risk further angering his partner! So for the moment the giant would hold his tongue, hoping that the answer might make itself apparent as time went on. The way the ruins felt like they changed and shifted upon their entry mad the grunt even more uneasy. Did they set off some sort of trap? As much as he wanted to suggest caution going forward to Victor the man simply could not bring himself to break his vow of silence. Surely he was a capable man, yes? Surely he was well aware of the threats when he made his way into the ruins. Surely he was well prepared for whatever dangers might come their way. So Yoizuki would do his best to keep his cool, doing his best to take deep yet shaky breaths as they continued forward. It would seem that the two would not make it too far before being challenged by a pair of pokemon that called this strange place home. Yoizuki came to a sudden halt as he felt the xatu's eyes on him, a hand quickly reaching into his jacket as he barely managed to stifle a yelp. The grunt took a step back as the geodude rolled into view as well, the living boulder locking eyes with him. It seemed that there was no option other than battle. "SNACKY." The grunt would cry out as he released his trusty pokemon, the obese snorlax materializing from the sphere's red light. It seemed his panic managed to overpower his fear of displeasing his partner. Immediately the raging Snorlax would let out a fearsome bellow, the dreadful sound echoing through the ruins. "Snacky no! No we're trying to be SNEAKY. Please do not make too much noise." The snorlax would simply grunt as it started to stomp toward it's target, it's attention locked onto the geodude. The rock pokemon would see this approaching behemoth and brace itself with a defense curl, it's body tucking into itself as his stony skin grew even harder. Sneaky paid this no mind, charging forward with high horse power and throwing his entire weight onto his opponent. The ground shook as the heavy pokemon flopped forward, crushing the geodude under his mass. Yet it would not be enough to stop this hardened pokemon. Underneath his massive belly the pokemon would start to spin in place, attempting to rollout from underneath him. The friction caused Snacky to let out a roar of pain, forcing him to flop over onto his back to prevent further damage. Yet the geodude was not as free as he thought. Once he was on his back the snorlax would reach over to the geodude, easily scooping him off the ground with one hand. The rock type was too shocked by the turn of events to resist, his spinning brought to an abrupt end. The snorlax would then bring the geodude up to it's mouth. mouth opening wide to reveal rows of sharp and powerful teeth. With a single crunch the boulder would crack, the powerful chomp enough to finish the job. Luckily for her Snacky was not quite hungry enough to devour a rock, casually tossing the geodude aside as he pushed himself up and made his way over to his trainer. "V-very good Snacky. Thank you. Here." The grunt reached into the side pouch of his backpack, revealing a baseball sized yellow sphere that almost looked like a giant hard candy. The so called trainer held the treat up to his pokemon, who would gladly snatch it up and pop it in his mouth before looking back at the other battle. Maybe he would get lucky and have a chance to get involved to earn himself a second treat... lvl 31 Snorlax (Thick Fat)Screech | Crunch | Heavy Slam | Chip Away |High Horsepower | Rollout Geodude used Defense Curl! experience dictates flow. victor knows better than to stop. it shows in his approach, never faltering - only onward. ideally, the mission would be a smash and grab. they'd go in, kick ass, and leave before anything could register. unfortunately, his partner didn't seem to think the same. their communication had been a little off.
the moments the light flickered, he knew the jig was up. it didn't matter how they knew, just that they knew. but all that stood in their way was a xatu and geodude. not much of an obstruction. not enough to deter victor from sprinting right toward them. avoiding the geodude proves simple enough. he just has to vault over its small body, landing with a sharp pivot. it's in this crucial moment that he reels his arm back, performing a back hand toss of shitter's pokeball against the wall. the round object flies out with an impressive speed, ricocheting in a direct path to the xatu.
the speed of the ball carries shitter forward. momentum allows it to TAKE DOWN the xatu with a mighty MEGAHORN. rhyhorn's great mass hurtles straight into the psychic pokemon, causing them both to crash forward from the impact. victor's still rushing forward, using his pokemon as an opportunity to pass by. "hurry the fuck up," he scolds, just now realizing that yoizuki's far behind. who cares if he took out the geodude. couldn't he hear the far off chatter? they weren't here alone. it's a race against time.
shitter doesn't quite understand this but the pokemon knows to follow his trainer. xatu just so happens to be between them, having been tussled a few feet away from shitter's earlier attack. so, without hesitation, shitter charges again, using its body as a battering STONE EDGE. instinctively, the xatu TELEPORTS out of the way, appearing several feet behind the rhyhorn. neither pay the pokemon any mind now that it's out of their way.

[break][break] " X A, " sounds an hollow voice from the psychic bird's mind, the pulse of otherworldly energy acting as a beacon to its fellow protectors. The ground immediately begins to rumble, a low groan sounding from a rocky throat nearby in answer to its companion's call.[break][break] The round, hovering body of a Solrock eases gently from beyond a corner ahead, its spoked body spinning almost mechanically as it sets its sights immediately on VICTOR LEE . The source of the graveled groan is quick to make its appearance as well, shadows breaking away from the angered Onix's stony body as it rushes with uncharacteristic speed to cut between the pair of trainers, moving to block Yoizuki Haruyama and his hungry Snorlax's from their assigned teammates.[break][break] Xatu's eyes stare unblinkingly toward VICTOR LEE as she lingers behind, her wings drawing ready for another attack.

The grunt let out a yelp as his partner yelled after him, the giant only now realizing that Victor had continued forward rather than engaging the pokemon. Was...was that a good idea? Surely having a crowd of pokemon chasing them would only make things more complicated once they reached their destination. Of course that was his thinking. And if there was one thing Yoizuki knew it was that he should never trust his own judgement. Surely Victor knew what he was doing and Yoi was just proving himself to be an even greater burden by wasting time on his own thoughts. How stupid of him. The grunt would sprint as quickly as he could, his long legs awkwardly carrying him forward as he did his best to catch up and keep pace with Victor. Despite the man's size he wasn't quite in the best physical condition, which made things a lot more complicated now that he had fallen behind. His chest ached as his breathing began to grow heavy, a combination of panic and exhaustion starting to wear on the hacker. Yet he didn't slow down, his desire to prove himself preventing him from failing at his mission. He couldn't mess this up, especially not over something silly like this. Unfortunately this meant that he would be forced to return Snacky for the moment. He couldn't risk being slowed down because his partner got distracted or decided he wanted to tear into some random pokemon that would otherwise prove to be harmless. Besides he was...pretty slow. Not that it mattered, as the trainer would suddenly find his path blocked by a massive chain of rocks, the shifting boulders twisting toward the man to reveal the massive head of an agitated Onix. Not only that, the grunt could see that his partner was being assaulted by not only one pokemon, but TWO. Oh dear. Was this Yoizuki's fault? This was probably his fault. A hand reached into his jacket, taking a brief moment to dig around before grasping on to one of his pokeballs. Now that he was in the battle mindset the grunt was able to think a bit more clearly, allowing him to make a proper decision rather than jumping straight to Snacky. He was familiar with onix, as well as it's severe vulurability to water. With this information in mind Yoi would call out his stunfisk. Daymoon would look blankly up at the Onix that loomed over him, his small mouth opening wide in shock as he stared in awe. Was THIS to be his opponent? Why was it so TERRIFYING? "Daymoon, you need to use water!" While normally Daymoon wasn't interested in battle, the threat this opponent bore was plainly obvious. Without hesitation the flat pokemon would let out a concentrated stream of water from his mouth, aiming to hit the onix square in the face with a water gun. Unfortunately the pokemon was rather sturdy, managing to shake off the attack without fully succumbing to it. In fact the attack seemed to only make it angrier. Onix let out a ferocious roar, her tail coiling around a pile of loose rocks and debris along the wall. Ina single motion she would toss the rock tomb at her opponent, the heavy materials landing directly on top of the stunfisk and slowing it down considerably. However the flat pokemon's hard skin allowed it to absorb the attacks, The pokemon would scramble to squirm out from underneath the attack, letting loose another water gun the moment it regained line of sight with it's opponent. This time the water was too much for the onix to bear, causing it to recoil and attempt to slither away. However the Daymoon would persist in his attack, wanting to ensure that this opponent wouldn't come back to haunt them later. It was just too terrifying of a threat to deal with. The onix would succumb to the attacks, falling limp on the ground. Luckily her attempt to flee created a gap for Yoizuki to pass through, which he would do as quickly as he could in his attempt to catch up with Victor. "Sir! Sir are you alright? Do you need assistance? Are we still running!?" It seemed he forgot about the 'ten words' rule. lvl 22 Stunfisk (Static)Fissure | Flail | Tackle | Water Gun Daymoon used Water Gun! something supernatural stops their progress. victor can't put his finger on it but he's astute enough to assume the xatu is behind it. that means he can't just ignore it. they need to take it out. "we're turning," comes as both an order and a warning. the addition of two more pokemon mean nothing to the rhyhorn. orders were given so shitter's bound to obey. nothing will stop it from being able to TAKE DOWN xatu.
except a well placed PSYHIC. what a pain.
a purple hue of energy exerts itself onto rhyhorn's frame. it ignores the law of physics, applying solrocks' mystic powers to hold rhyhorn in place. shitter finds it near impossible to move, barely able to struggle a wiggle of its toes. but that's more than enough.
"grounded STONE EDGE!" a shift in orders changes shitter's approach. a mere wiggle is enough to cause rocks to sprout from the ruin's walls. thick, stone columns start to burst from the runes that decorate their hallway, pummeling but xatu and solrock. one ends up being beat past its physical capabilities. the other remains in the air, unresponsive, inexpressive. victor can't tell if the attack's effective but its enough to free rhyhorn from the telekinetic hold.
"beat it quick and let's keep going." victor barely squeezes out the command while supervising shitter's battle. he's not sure how to proceed so he'll leave it to shitter and yoizuki. naturally, rhyhorn's sated by the earlier attacks success. it shows by shitter's repeated use of STONE EDGE.

Its spoked body rolled swiftly in the air, licks of flame dancing at the edges of his spines before erupting in a devastating burst of fire. Flare blitz. The room lit in a dangerous glow of fiery red, the sudden blast of flame devoured the surrounding air hungrily, billowing its way through the tunnel in a brief, searing instant. Shitter, Daymoon, and even Yoizuki Haruyama in his attempts to keep up were in serious danger of being caught the flame.[break][break] A flash of pink rocketed by VICTOR LEE' form, the pokémon ignoring the trainer to rush through just after the flame in sharp, bounding steps, the bipedal creature bee-lining its way for the battered Xatu on the verge of losing consciousness. Its attention never faltered as it hopped to a stop, the Medicham making quick work of skipping about the fallen bird's body, fingers pressing to various points on its form. Accupressure.[break][break]Xatu rises, invigorated, but broken. The bird is unable to find its footing, stumbling back to the ground to support itself with a wing as it finds its body unable to cooperate with its strength of will.[break][break] ( Defeat posts have a minimum count of 300 words, Xatu finds the strength for another round! )[break][break]There's a loud thud as a heavier pokémon's body collides with the wall, the tremble of the ground revealing that a weighty pokemon lurks none too far ahead of VICTOR LEE. The stone-skinned wild Rhyhorn leaves little time for guessing as it tears its way through the shadows, galloping with its head lowered and horn ready to strike as it rushes VICTOR LEE head-on in an attempt to knock him down off his feet. The steely-eyed pokémon's gaze bears a vicious gleam, heavy feet ready and waiting to stomp and trample the trainer should he not find himself able to avoid the bulldoze.[break][break] The rock-ground type wouldn't be alone in its effort, Xatu using strength she could muster to teleport herself and her newfound guardian, Medicham, to cut off VICTOR LEE's route.
