She had barely departed her hometown earlier that day, leaving its peaceful fields for more exciting prospects. It was going well; she'd beat a couple of pokemon and met a couple trainers. It was actually rather fun--Emma's first foray into the real world was easier than she thought. At least, until now. When she heard the rustle of a nearby bush, she couldn't help but be curious. Was it an injured pokemon, perhaps? Or a stray that needed to be adopted? Emma's eyes lit up with the possibility of adding another pokemon to the team. She walked over, pullig back branches to see the glimmer of a horn in the corner of her eye. She couldn't react fact enough. Emma yells, stumbling backwards before landing on her bottom. She looks at her arm, searching for any broken skin...there wasn't anything. But-- "Kehlani?"She sees her Pichu on the groud, and in a panic Emma rushes to pick her pokemon up and runs. She doesn't know where, just so long as it's away from that bush. A minute or so later, with a fair bit of distance, she stops, the sound of her heartbeat heavy in her ears. "Are you okay? Kehlani?"Her Pichu looks at her uncertainly, obviously distressed by... whatever happened to it. Now that she's stopped, she can see rivets of purple lining Kehlani's fur. It's poison...right? She knows that much at least, but she doesn't have anything that treats poison on her. Nor does she even know where the closest town is. Emma looks around desperately, her mind racing. She could always put her pokemon in it's pokeball...but she doesn't want to leave Kehlani to suffer alone. "C-can someone help me!?" She yells, her voice brittle but loud. Her pokemon can't die from poison...right?

521 WORDS ITS GONNA BE OK | Vannah sat at the edge of a pond, legs crossed to hold a rather large open binder. A textbook was sitting in the grass, idly open with it's pages fluttering lightly in the breeze. Vannah was holding a pencil while looking deep into space, the eraser absentmindedly drifting to her teeth. She had a little extra homework to do today and thought that getting some fresh air wouldn't be a bad idea.
Vannah added a few lines to the paper she was writing before starting to chew lightly on her eraser again. It really was a nice day out, not too hot and not too cold. The shade of the trees helped keep the sun off her back, but there was still a circle of warmth surrounding her. It was Della, her Ponyta, who was taking a nap behind her and farther from the water. Vannah smiled as she looked at her pokemon, who was still tenative of pools of water. It was kind of cute. It's not like she'd faint if she got wet or something. Maybe Della just hated getting wet that much.
Vannah turned back to return to her essay but found herself cut short. There were bird pokemon flying from the trees in a flurry, and a desperate call for help somewhere nearby. Vannah immediately went into 'Nurse Mode' and got on her feet, searching for the source of the call. There was a rustle in the distance and before Vannah could even think about it, she had shoved her book and binder into her backpack and threw it onto her shoulders. Della was up and alert, locking eyes with her trainer before they both ran towards the source of the yell.
Vannah knocked through the brush to find a kid in a clearing alone. She couldn't have been older than thirteen or fourteen years old, and she was obviously distressed. Vannah raised her arms up and was sure to let the girl get a good look at her before approaching. "Don't worry, I'm here to help," Vannah said in a steadily calm voice. She took a few steps forward with her Ponyta, looking the girl up and down. "Are you alright? What's wrong?"
Vannah noticed the pokemon curled in the young trainer's arms and understood immediately. Trainers that were starting off, this was kind of a common sight at a Pokemon Center. Vannah went to the girl's side and took off her backpack, rummaging until she pulled out a small med kit.
"Everything's okay," she said, looking the girl in the eye and giving a reassuring smile. "I'm a Pokemon Nurse. It's gonna be fine."
Vannah looked down to the tiny Pichu, who was curled so tight she couldn't even see it's face. "May I see them?" She asked the trainer, putting her arms out cautiously to hold the pokemon before her. She wouldn't be able to help the Pichu if she couldn't tell what was wrong with it.

She resists letting her emotions take control of her. The back of her eyes sting, and she struggles not cry...in the middle of the forest, out of all the places. When the bushes rustle again, she instinctively flinches--but what came out was not another pokemon...but a pink haired girl. She has a fire pony too. The hairs on the back of Emma's neck raise, but she doesn't feel any malice from her. "Kehlani...she got stung or something I think." Emma mumbles. When the girl introduces herself, she can't help but sigh in relief. A pokemon nurse! She must be really lucky. Her arms slightly loosen, and she gentle pulls Kehlani away from her chest. Her Pichu scrabbles to stay close, but she smiles. "Hey...Kehlani. She's going to help you okay?"She offers her pokemon, eyeing the lines of purple, contrast against her yellow fur. "She's been stung before, but it's never been this bad."Vannah Becker

222 words she'll be ok! | Vannah carefully took the pokemon into her arms, analyzing to oozing purple scratches against it's fur. It did look pretty bad, but luckily she had just the thing.
"Do you remember what happened?" Vannah asked the girl idly as she pulled out a small antidote from her med kit. "This is gonna sting a bit," she said quietly to the Pichu before spraying on the medicine. It took a couple of seconds, but soon the poison started to recede away into nothing. Vannah sighed with relief, the most concerning part was over. But the Pichu still had a pretty bad wound.
"It looks like your pokemon really wanted to protect you," Vannah said with a smile, carefully handing the Pichu back to it's trainer. "Good news is, she's gonna be okay. I took care of the poison, but she still needs to be treated at a Pokemon Center. I know the fastest way to get there, if you want to come with me?" Vannah pointed vaguely into the bushes. There was a trail not too far from here that lead straight back into town, and from there she could escort the young trainer and her pokemon directly to the Pokemon Center.

She lets the girl take Kehlani into her arms, twiddling her thumbs nervously as she waits. The girl pulls out a purple bottle in her hands, and she eyes the word antidote etched on the side. "Well...we were checking out a bush and something tried to sting me I think. Kehlani jumped in front of me so I wouldn't get hurt." She chews on the bottom of her lip, feeling guilty for such transgression. When the girl sprays her antidote on Kehlani she can't help but cringe when her pokemon flinched. Amazingly, however, the poison disappears, leaving Kehlani with just a scratch. Albiet, not the best looking one. "Yeah...she's been with me since she was little." Emma says. Kehlani looks so much better, and she smiles gratefully at the pink haired girl. "Thank you soo much! I would really appreciate it...if you don't mind!" Surely, she must be busy with something else? She must have other things going on, why would she want to help out a fourteen year old? "Thanks for pointing me the right way, but are you sure? I think I'll be okay by myself."Vannah Becker

339 words aw shes cute | Vannah nodded her head as the teenager explained the situation. It probably happened so fast that she didn't remember what pokemon it was that even poisoned her Pichu.
"Some pokemon around here, like Beedrill and Nidoran, are really territorial and have poisonous horns or stingers. When we get to the Pokemon Center I'll give you a few Antidotes to take on your travels in case something like this happens again." Vannah smiled at the young trainer. "Most pokemon can be really friendly! But it's always a good idea to keep your distance from any pokemon in case they might be aggressive. Sometimes you don't see them, or you don't know it's a pokemon at all, so accidents happen. But that's what Pokemon Centers are for. I should have a map I can give you that shows you all the Pokemon Centers in Johto so you can see which ones you might be closest to in the future."
Maybe she was babying the girl too much. She had just seemed so... scared that Vannah felt the need to help her as much as she could. Vannah started walking in the direction of town and Della followed beside her. She absentmindedly put her hand on the Ponyta's head and brushed her fiery mane out of habit before laughing at the fourteen year old's questioning.
"Don't worry about it!" Vannah turned and grinned at the trainer. "This is my job, I love to help trainers and their pokemon like you two. It's the least I can do to make sure you both make it to the Pokemon Center safely." Vannah lightly placed her hand on the teenager's shoulder, smiling calmly and hopefully assuring the trainer to not worry.
"Oh," she said suddenly while chuckling to herself, "I'm Savannah, by the way. But you can call me Vannah, most people do."
