 not much is known about the ruins of alph. it's old, humanity knows that much, and it's said to be where unowns reside. he's never seen one; he hasn't even seen one on the black market, which is surprising, to say the least. theo's not one to take things by force. that's just not how he does business. too rough, too impersonal. but if he has to, he won't hesitate. that being said, it's hard to take things by force when the only force besides himself is a totodile. small and fragile. not very intimidating. now, a feraligatr; that's a different story entirely. but he still has a long way to go. too long for his liking. he'd take shortcuts where applicable. if some poor soul decides to wander into a deep, dark cave on this day, at the same time as theo, then that's just the gods giving him permission to steal. the moment is too opportune to pass up on. that's where his head's at as he approaches the entrance to the ruins. while not afraid of the dark, theo would rather not get stuck in there without vision. he brought with him a single flashlight, confident that it'd be sufficient. sliding a hand into his pocket, he pulls out a single cigarette only to realize that he forgot his lighter. "fuck sake—" he pats his coat, his pants; nothing. with a sigh, he hears footsteps approaching from behind him. is this the poor soul from the gods? he wonders. "hey, buddy! you got a light?" he does the lighting gesture with his fingers as he lets the cigarette hang by his mouth. |

Who knew he’d be back here again, but this time with a different companion? The last time he’d been here he’d played witness to someone picking up a Geodude and tossing it like a discus, which angered another bunch of wild Pokémon (and things got a little hairy after that) but this time, he was here to poke around—hopefully with less-scarier companions. They were extremely weird… he thought to himself as he looked around the eerily quiet location. While he hadn’t found the source of the weird noises on the radio (maybe it was tied to a certain time of day, or something?), he still wanted to know more about the place. He’d heard whispers from several archeologists that there were strange-looking Pokémon here, that… looked like letters? Or something like that. What the hell is that supposed to be, alphabet soup? He continued to ponder as he withdrew the stick in his mouth. His order of pipe leaves hadn’t arrived yet—and so he was stuck smoking the sticks that were more commonly sold in convenience stores around the area. He was about to take out his small black notebook and add some notes in it when he heard a voice call in his direction, asking if he had a light that the other could bum off. “Just your luck, I have a lighter on me. Give me a moment,” he said to the other, who had an unlit cigarette in his mouth. With his free hand, he dug around and fished out said lighter, before tossing it in the other’s direction. “Catch,” he called out, before tossing the small red lighter towards the other man. “Lost your lighter or something?” he asked a few moments later, before returning his attention momentarily to the small black notebook he had with him and scribbled a few things in it about the area before putting it away. his finger twitches as he waits for the aforementioned lighter, eyeing the stranger impatiently. he's a smoker, but he tells himself he's not addicted. he does it for the sake of aesthetics. he knows it's a lie; a rather bad one; but he still chooses to believe it isn't. he's optimistic like that. or delusional. the stranger tosses the lighter. "thanks." he mutters out the side of his mouth as he catches it. his hands move like lighting as he wastes no time igniting the cigarette. he takes a long, slow drag, savoring every moment of it. at the end, he sighs, exhaling a steady cloud of smoke. remember, he's not addicted. theo tosses the lighter back, not even bothering to look first. "nah, just forgetful." another drag, and he's in nirvana. "what were you writing? black notebook." he inquires. rumbling sounds from the entrance to the ruins, calling for theo to turn his head. he complies, and through the darkness he sees a snaking onix, and on top of it, a bonsly. the sight, as amusing as it is, makes him take a few steps back to call out his totodile. "slasher, focus!" he says because he knows what his totodile is like. slasher bounces on his tail, completely unaware of the incoming onix. the shaking of the ground is what sets him off; he turns, and immediately swings his AQUA TAIL to smack the onix straight in its face. the impact knocks slasher off his feet, but it also sends the bonsly flying off towards the other trainer. onix retaliates by slamming its tail into the ground, causing chunks of ROCKS to scatter before THROWing them towards slasher. intuitively, slasher skips left, dodging one rock only to get smacked in the face by another. he shakes the damage off and jumps up into the air. he rotates, coming down for a final AQUA TAIL to faint the onix. |

“That was just me keeping track of what goes where… you heard about that radio broadcast a few weeks ago? Apparently Ice-types had been driven out of the Ice Path, and now it’s a place for anything and everything that breathes Fire. I was originally looking for Fire-types elsewhere but I was hella surprised to see that instead of finding them at that spot, there were Poison-types instead. So it’s kind of a mess now,” he explained as the lighter came flying back in his direction. Catching it with his left hand, he then pocketed it—before the sounds of a scuffling racket caught his attention. Looking up in time to see several Pokémon, one of which was extremely large (how the hell did it even fit in here in the first place) and had been taken care of, he was left to deal with the other one—even if it was small, he knew that it was going to spell a lot of trouble. “Forward and center, let’s deal with this!” he began, tossing a shrunken-down marble skywards and watching as a battle-starved Riolu made its appearance from the flash of red light. “Wait until it gets closer and then you strike!” he began, figuring that it was always best to let the other take the first move—and that’s exactly what the Bonsly did, using Low Kick to start things off. While it did rile up the Riolu somewhat, Lars knew that he was waiting for something—and right as the other finished its sweeping attack, his companion lashed out with a Counter attack, suddenly returning the power of the previous attack nearly double right in the Bonsly’s face. Guess he has it under control pretty much, he thought to himself as the Bonsly then continued into a Fake Tears status change, which threw the Riolu off for all of five seconds. Blinking confusedly at the shitshow that he was witnessing, the Fighting-type then gaped at the Bonsly, who charged forward with another Low Kick attack. Tanking the attack head-on like a man, the Fighting-type then waited before lashing out with another Counter attack, doing the same thing it had done earlier. Not to be outdone, the Bonsly retaliated with a Copycat attack, and the riolu was more than surprised to see that the Low Kick that he’d used was suddenly mirrored back in his face! Okay, that’s it! Huffing at the opponent he was facing, the fighting-type then turned to Lars, who was also surprised by what had happened. “Well, that was a shock. You can handle that, right? I know you don’t like it when people copy you…” he added with a bit of a smirk on his face, and the Fighting-type then turned his attention back to the Bonsly, before charging forward with a Blaze Kick attack, even if it didn’t do too much damage. He was just there to goad the wild ‘mon into retaliating—and that’s what it did. Quickly responding with another Low Kick attack, the Riolu braced itself and took the punishment before retaliating with a third Counter attack, driving the bonsly back where it had come from after that. Dusting himself down, the Riolu then trotted back to where Lars stood, before he looked over at his now-smoking companion. “That was a mess, in more ways than one. Anyway. Got lost in here?” he asked the other, reaching for his own pack and pulling one out and lighting it up. MADE BY ★MEULK |

maybe slasher isn't as much of an idiot as theo thinks he is. when he thinks about it carefully, slasher's unpredictability and childishness helps make him a better fighter. his opponents can't predict what's going to happen because slasher fights on instinct. he reacts. he doesn't plan ahead or theorize on how to beat his opponents. he just does it. after the onix comes a cranidos; a fossil pokemon, which would have been extra valuable on the market a few years ago, but since then there's been a splurge of appearances for reasons unknown. it's made their value drop drastically. so he doesn't even bother giving it a second look. "go wild, slasher. the floor's all yours." grinning, slasher leaps forward and charges straight at the cranidos; his tail liquidizing as he swings his AQUA TAIL, smacking right against the dinosaur's strong head. his tail almost bounces off from the sheer hardness of it, but he has enough momentum to carry his attack through the end. cranidos yells in pain, but its FOCUS ENERGY had prepared itself for the damage. it turns, retaliating with a HEAD BUTT that for some reason, scares slasher away. maybe it's because of how hard he hit the ground from it. it follows with a PURSUIT. "what are you doing? stop running!" his voice is rough and coarse but his message delivers. slasher stops in his tracks, skidding as he turns to swing his tail for another AQUA TAIL. it faints the cranidos, but he doesn't stop there. he jumps onto it and ICE FANGs the living hell out of the dinosaur, almost snapping its neck in the process. theo has to admit, he's impressed. but he has to stop it before slasher learns unethical behavior. he swoops forward, picking slasher up and carrying him in his arms for moments. "calm down. calm down." he gives slasher a shake, then drops him back down onto the floor. with a smile, he speaks. "good boy." |

Thankfully the two that followed afterward weren’t as…large…as the Onix that had come earlier. In fact Lars let out a sigh of relief, but then blinked at the Geodude that came barrelling right at him. “Alright, you know how to handle this,” he said in his Riolu’s direction; hoping that the other was still raring for a fight. The Riolu growled at the incoming Geodude, who started things off right away with a Rock Polish status change, allowing the sentent rock to move faster. The Fighting-type stood his ground, waiting for the other to go closer—as it was, the only useful way he could deal with these pesky Rock-types was to wait for them to come close enough so that he could smack them around with his usual tactics. The Geodude, surprised at this non-aggression coming from the Riolu, then used Defense Curl to boost another one of its stats—and right after that, began to use Rollout on the seemingly passive Riolu. Of course, the Rock-type didn’t know that he’d made a big mistake doing that, as the first strike that smacked him, the Riolu then set up and began to use Counter on the incoming Geodude. While said Rock-type was surprised at first, it continued to use Rollout on the Riolu, but instead of plowing the Riolu over, the Fighting-type continued to boomerang its attacks back on it with Counter with each successive strike. Well, technically that’s cheating, but it’s like the only way I can let him fight… why doesn’t he have Force Palm yet? That’s terrible… Lars thought as the fourth and last attempt at Rollout smacked into his Riolu—which the other returned with twice the power via Counter right in its face. While it had been deterred, it was still there and wanted a fight even more. “Wait for it to move!” he called out, watching as the Geodude then charged at the Riolu in a Tackle attack to knock it down. Unfortunately for the Geodude, though, the Riolu was waiting for it to get close enough—once it had taken the Tackle head-on without even flinching, the attack was flipped back in the Geodude’s face with Counter once again, forcing the other backward. “Keep going!” he added a few moments later; as the Geodude came in for another Tackle attempt, the Riolu stood his ground, and retaliated with another Counter before using its small fists to shove the Geodude away from it. In a last-ditch effort, the Geodude tried for one last Tackle attack, but a well-timed Counter forced the Geodude to go rolling back down where it had emerged from. Now that the second threat was gone, there was only silence…for the moment. MADE BY ★MEULK |

they just keep piling in, one after the other. he's left with the only option to retreat because he doesn't know just how many more will come. slasher's good, but he's not a god. he'll tire eventually and judging from how heavy slasher's breathing, he won't last for much longer. "come on, slasher. we're leaving."one smoke and he turns on his heels, keen on leaving. there's nothing left for them anymore. but he stops when he feels the ground tremble yet again. "you're kidding me." he sighs and eyes the rhyhorn that stands in their way to freedom. he shakes his head and nudges slasher forward with his foot. "ahead." slasher is ecstatic with his movements as he leaps forward, swinging his AQUA TAIL down against the body of the rhyhorn. he then SCREECHes, which he's meant to do in the opposite order. "you idiot—screech first, then attack." when will he learn? the cave is suddenly brighter with the appearance of a FIRE FANG that does little to no damage against slasher. he tanks through the damage and smacks his AQUA TAIL again, fainting the rhyhorn. theo doesn't bother capturing something that weak. he steps next to its fallen body and kneels down, eyeing it for moments. "you're weak but you have potential. sadly, you won't achieve it with me." he has no use for weaklings on his team. rhyhorn doesn't sell for much either. sparing one glance back, he sees the other trainer engaging in another battle with a nosepass. like he said, they just keep coming. "see you around, man." should he stay to help? nah. it looks like he has it under control. besides, it's only a nosepass, what damage could it truly do? theo sets his eyes towards the light; the exit of the cave comes into sight. one step forward, crossing the threshold, and he's free. |

And then there they were. A third batch of wild Pokémon came racing out of the darkness; and while the one that resembled a rhinoceros went for the other, the second one—which Lars recognized as a Nosepass, them being native to his home region—made a beeline for him. “Seriously, can we not catch a break,” he grumbled as he took his cigarette out of his mouth and whistled in the Riolu’s direction. “We’re not out of the woods yet! Brace yourself!” he said in the Fighting-type’s direction as the Nosepass then closed the distance with a Tackle attack. Now, why did his ‘Don Riolu’ not have any useful moves yet aside from Counter? And I have to get this done the hard way, that sucks, he thought to himself as the Riolu took the brunt of the attack, before quickly throwing its fists out and using Counter to boomerang the attack back on the Nosepass with double the power. Of course, this was going to be the only way to deal with everything that wasn’t weak to his Riolu for a while...at least, until he somehow already knew Force Palm and was just being a complete dick to Lars. Which he probably was. Anyway, the Nosepass then used Block in an effort to trap the Riolu, but Lars let out a bark of laughter at that— ”Are you kidding me, he’s not going to get away! What an idiot,” he chuckled a few moments later as the Riolu then lit up its feet and decided to use Blaze Kick on its opponent—never mind if it wasn’t going to work too much. The Blaze Kick was there to goad the Nosepass into attacking him, anyway. And that’s what the Nosepass exactly did—using Tackle again in close-range, to which the Riolu responded with a nice, fat Counter to the face. Now annoyed, the Nosepass then released a small jolt of electricity—to which Lars shouted, “Get out of the way!” before the Riolu used Quick Attack in an effort to avoid the Thunder Wave attack. Thankfully, it worked. Now that the Riolu was seeing red, it waited until another Tackle came slamming right into it, before meeting it head-on with a shoulder-bash of a Counter attack, forcing the Nosepass down and flat on its side. As the weird nasal-shaped Pokémon tipped over, several instances of Blaze Kick were used in an effort to drive it back and away from where he stood. MADE BY ★MEULK |

At this point, the resident pokemon are sick of you both - even the Zubats have started to avoid you.
