[nospaces] [attr="class","Vgentempbox"] [attr="class","Vgentemptitle"]Hush Little Baby [attr="class","Vgentempdiv"] Mission Title: Hush Little Baby[break] Mission Location: Burned Tower[break] Mission Description: A young child has ventured into the depths of Burned Tower in hopes of seeing the spirit of her recently deceased mother. After an entire night has passed and he was unable to find her, the father is desperately asking for any available trainer to traverse the tower and bring home his daughter safely. An ample reward awaits anyone willing to bring her home. [break] Mission Requirements: Open to anyone, but a Medium will help with coaxing the child home! [break] Mission Rewards: 1,500 Pokedollars[break]

Things that hit so close to home. This time he couldn't. As soon as he heard about the little girl who had gone into the burnt tower looking to speak to her deceased mother, he knew he had to go. He wasn't a medium or anything like that. He wasn't able to speak to ghost, he wasn't even the most friendly person around; in fact this child will probably scream upon seeing him. But he knew he had to go... He could relate to the little girl, and maybe because of that he could help return her before anyone got hurt. [break][break]
Upon walking up to the burned tower Eli saw the little girl's father stood outside the tower, pacing. His anxiety to bring his little girl home was obvious. As Eli drew closer the older gentleman began rushing towards him. "Oh god, please tell me you are one of the trainers sent to help!" Eli's dark eyes looked down at the man, he could tell there was some hesitancy in his eyes and voice. but his desperation to get his daughter home outweighed that unsure look in his eyes. Eli slowly nodded "Yea..Don't worry... We'll get he back safe. Eli's voice was dark and low, almost creepy if it wasn't for the hint of gentleness in there.[break][break]
There was supposed to be one more trainer coming. Eli was hesitant to accept the help of someone else, but he knew he would probably need the help. He wasn't a big hot shot trainer after all. He didn't have really strong pokemon. He was just a simple breeder, he knew a lot about pokemon because of this. But as far as the mission went, he wasn't prideful enough to refuse help. Not on a mission he wanted to complete so badly. But, this did complicate things just a little. After all, if he is going to share his heart to this little girl to get her back to safety, then that would mean this other trainer would probably hear it as well, that is unacceptable. Eli liked to keep his past and his emotions close to him. He would have to look for a way to get the other trainer away from them if he had to share his heart. But who knows, maybe it wouldn't come to that. Eli didn't know much about this other person who accepted the job. He was just notified that someone else would be coming with him. So Eli gave a small, straight faced nod to the father and turned his back to him looking down the path waiting for his 'partner' for this mission. [break][break]

the definition of a hero, as per the dictionary, is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. theo ticks two out of the three choices. he's courageous; he takes risks where others wouldn't. he has outstanding achievements; his reputation as kanto's top poacher speaks for itself. but, he's not noble. he posses no noble qualities whatsoever. he's a criminal at heart. always has been. but, just for one day, he'll be a noble savior of some poor child, trapped alone in the depths of the burned tower. he arrives late to the scene, but doesn't apologize. he rarely does. he shrugs his shoulder as he steps into the scene, joining the two men. it's clear one's the father of the lost girl, and the other is his partner for today. his eyes take them in as he gives them a friendly wave. "not too late, am i?" at the realization of his words, he quickly interjects with more. "oops, i didn't mean it like that. i'm sure she's fine." he gives the father a sympathetic smile that fades as quickly as it appears. "probably." looking to the burned tower, he takes a step forward and enters without consulting his partner. "follow when you're ready, buddy."Eli Mason

Taller male, fairly skinny, shaggy green looking hair. Somewhat unusual and common looking all at the same time. The way the male walked up to the scene and shrugged made Eli's eyes narrow. Eli didn't consider himself the 'hero' type, not by any means. But this man's approach, hearing the words come from his lips with no regard to the father's feelings; it made the corner of Eli''s mouth tick with a small smirk. Watching as the male strode past with the invitation "Follow when you're ready, buddy." the invitation sounded condescending. [break][break]
Eli's eyes watched the male for a moment, debating on if he should succumb to the temptation to terrify this man, or if he should simply focus on the mission. Eli's lips curved into a slightly wicked grin as he licked his lips slowly. before turning to the father with a soft genuine smile and a tilt of his head. "Don't worry, We'll get her back." The attitude was unusual for Eli. But he was determined, this mission had to be a success, the little girl had to be okay and return to what was left of her loving family.[break][break]
Eli's body then turned and followed after his so called partner. Walking up to the large, mostly burnt down building. As they approached the steps Eli was careful where he stepped, the floor boards creaking, threatening to give away at any point as the pair entered the build. Eli turned to the tall male, his eyes growing wide and his lips curving into a crooked grin. "Hope you aren't afraid of ghost...." Eli teased in a rather... creepy manor as he stepped inside. [break][break]
The inside of the building smelt of smoke, burnt wood, and even a hint of decay. Eli's dark eyes scanning around cautiously. This place brought back some memories. As the male stepped inside he began to hum, a soft sort of lullaby that only enhanced the eerie feeling of the place. shimmers of light peeking through the holes and cracks in the walls and roofs. Looking around carefully for any clues to where this girl may have gone. Eli noticed a pair of small foot prints left in the soot leading up the stairs. Eli silently looked back towards his 'partner' and nodded to him and began to follow up the stairs to continue their search. He had a feeling this team was going to be very... interesting. scorch marks taint the entirety of the tower: the wooden floorboards, the walls, everything. it's a disturbing sight, but one that doesn't affect him because he's used to it. he's not a stranger to death; he taunts it at every given opportunity. most call him foolish. he prefers daring. theo hadn't paid much attention to his partner and he doesn't plan to. but the other speaks up, forcing him to engage in conversation. "you look like you've seen a few." it's a quick joke that he hopes will put a stop to their conversation. it's the crooked, creepy grin that rests uneasy with him. shaking it off, he looks forward and continues on only to be caught off guard by a soft hum in the tone of a lullaby. "that's fucking creepy. you have to stop that shit, man." his words come out as whispers. then, footprints on the base of the stairs. the two have a silent understanding as they ascended the stairs. theo's careful, mindful of anything that might come at them. his hands hover over a single pokeball. the floorboards creak, not from them, but from something up ahead. he stops in his place and looks to his partner. "you might want to prepare yourself."Eli Mason

"you look like you've seen a few." The green haired male's voice muttered lowly. Eli's lips curved into a small eerie smile. If he only knew the half of it. Ghost were a very big part of Eli's past, and he hopped that it would continue to be. "that's fucking creepy. you have to stop that shit, man." Eli's smile grew into a grin as his head tilted and he looked to his comrade as he followed him up the stairs. This next comment only filled him with a certain sense of pride. He could tell this man like to be in control, do his own thing. Probably some big shot, a tough guy. Getting under the skin of someone like that was a bit easier than the quieter types, usually... And this time that seemed to be the case. [break][break]
Eli watched as the taller male walked past him and began to walk up the stairs. reeeeeek... The stairs creek from above, as his partner began to warn him of the possible danger coming their way his lips curved into another one of his wicked smirks. His long tongue sliding out and licking at his lips hungrily. Reaching down to his side he pulled out his pokeball and with a sudden flash there was a small cubone on the stairs in front of them. The small cubone's head turning back towards the trainer. Seeing another trainer by Eli's side the cubone looked confused and tilted it's head to the side. "Bone?...." The creature muttered puzzled. Eli nodded to Cubone "Do your thing Kibou.."Eli said in a low voice. The Cubone nodded, his eyes going from a puzzled look to a look of ferocity. "BONE! BONE!" The cubone shouted as it began to spin the bone club in it's hands as if showing off and stepping into a defensive stance.[break][break]
Eeeek.... Eeeek... Eek Eeek Eeeeeeeeek. The steeps seemed almost rhythmic, as if something was dancing down the steps slowly. Thats when Eli saw it, dancing out of the shadows a large bloated ghost floated down landing on a step a few above them. Eli's eyes lit up like a school girl's. "It's perfect!" Eli said in an excited whisper as he simply stared at the Gengar, he didn't give Kibou and commands, he couldn't. He was much too distracted by his fascination by the pokemon in front of him. He had always wanted a Gengar. "Cu...Cubone.." Kibou growled defensively waiting for his trainer's command. "Gaaaar... GengAAAAR~~" The large ghost hummed in an low tone. His large red eyes lighting up.[break][break]

if theo had seen how eli had hungrily licked his lips, he would have turned around and left on the spot. thankfully, he doesn't see shit because he's too focused on what's lurking in the shadows ahead. his eyes can't see things that dark, so he's only left with the option to anticipate. his hand hovers over his pokeball, waiting to react. reek. the stairs creak under him as he takes another step forward. "how ominous." he says to himself, a bit peeved at how the situation is playing out. eli's interactions with his cubone makes theo snap his head back. "tell your thing to shut up." eek. eek. eek. when he looks back, he sees the source of all their problems. a gengar. his hand instinctively pushes against the pokeball; white flashes, calling out his totodile. "slasher, kill!" he says as he points at the gengar. given their tight space, this might not have been the best of ideas. but he has limited options. slasher lives up to his name and SLASHes at the gengar, only to learn that his attack just passes right through the ghost-type. he looks back at theo, confused. "that won't work, you idiot. use aqua tail." annoyance drenches his words, but he keeps a straight face. take two: slasher smacks his tail against the wood and parries forward, slamming his AQUA TAIL into the gengar for a solid smack. theo looks over to his partner, then points down at his cubone. "is that thing able to help?"slasher - lv 19 - 100% - uses slash (fails) - uses aqua tail Eli Mason

Eli's eyes flickered to his 'partner' as he called out his pokemon. 'Slasher' What a name, and to give a command like 'Kill' This man was clearly not the creative type. It seemed this man truly had a one tracked mind. How simple. Eli's lips curved once again as he watched as the small totadile slashed right through the ghost type pokemon not because he was thinking little of the totadile, but it was more in admiration of the gengar, it was one of the pokemon he had always wanted, but unfortunately he didn't bring his pokeballs today, why? Because he over slept and was more focused on saving the girl than catching pokemon. but this is why you give more specific commands, not just.. Kill. Eli thought but he didn't say anything.
As the other man turned towards Eli and asked if this 'thing' was able to help Cubone was now offended himself, his narrow eyes behind the skull mask glared at the tall male trainer. Eli simply shrugged as he looked away carelessly. "Kibou, Boonerang." Eli said, his voice in a low haunting manor. "Bone!" The Cubone instantly through his bone club through the air, swirling with great power the bone flew right over the totadlie's head barely missing him as it flew straight into the Gengar's head, bouncing off. "Follow up with bone rush." Eli command, softly still as his eyes were kept on his partner rather than the Gengar. As the bone flew back, hitting the Gengar a second time the cubone was rushing up the stairs, catching the bone in his little hand and instantly wailing on the massive Gengar with the bone club, One hit.. Two Hit... Th- The Gengar jumped up into the air with a nightmareish grin. A large black orb forming in front of it before being shot at the two little pokemon.
The black orb crashed into the stairs where the pokemon were, Cubone jumping trying to avoid the blast was hit by the orb still and sent crashing down the stairs with a loud thud. "Booone~... Cu Cu BOONE!" The little pokemon was dazed for a second before jumping back up and angrily running up the stairs towards the Gengar, flashing a look at Eli for his next command. Eli took a quick second to see hos totadile managed from the blast. Chances were Eli and Kibou weren't strong enough to fight this thing on their own. They would need this other pair.

as the battle rages on, one thing became abundantly clear: he couldn't do this on his own. slasher's simply not strong enough to battle a gengar but maybe with the help of cubone. they might stand a chance. their attacks simply bounce off the gengar as it seemingly looks unaffected by it at all. it rises into the air, floating momentarily as its hand forms a darkly sphere. the SHADOW BALL shoots forward, flying straight into the two pokemon. they both jump. the stairs beneath them break from the impact, flinging slasher off to the side. he smacks against the wall and drops onto another set of stairs, though his partner isn't as lucky. the attack clipped cubone, causing it to plummet all the way down. "they just need to keep it distracted. we can slip past it." that's his plan. it's a simple one, but it's one he's certain will work. "slasher, get back up." his voice is cool as he points at the gengar. there are two staircases that lead up. all they need to do is to get the gengar to head to the other one. slasher jumps up a flight of stairs and SCREECHes at the ghost-type, calling for his attention. he smacks his AQUA TAIL against the floor, as if taunting the gengar. and the funny thing is: it's actually working.

It was Clear to Eli that Theo was trying something. What exactly? Eli wasn't sure. Leading the gengar somewhere else. But why? Eli wasn't sure. Maybe he was simply trying to run away instead of actually fight? Probably not, this man seemed pretty prideful. He seemed to be the type who would fight unless he absolutely had to run. So Eli decided to follow along with this man's plan. His black and red eyes watching the Gengar as it followed after the totadile who was now attacking it, bringing it towards the other set of stairs. "Kibou, Double Edge." It was a move that most trainers stayed away from. Due to the fact that most pokemon who used it ended up getting hurt. But Kibou was different, he was not only a fierce pokemon, but a tactical one. He knew this skull on his head was a form of protection and he was smart. He knew how to use it to his advantage. Kibou was a excellent pokemon, it was odd that he would belong to a breeder, instead of a trainer.
Kibou ran up the steps with haste, but it wasn't fast enough. Before Kibou could reach the gengar he threw a punch at the Totadile, even though he was far back. Yet a large shadow errupted from where the punch was thrown. The shadow flew towards the totadile. Eli didn't see if the attack hit or not. He was too focused on Kibou slamming into gengar from behind. Kibou, as always, masterfully caught himself making sure he didn't get hurt from the attack. "BONE! BONE!" The cubone taunted the gengar as it ran it the stairs following the totadile, leading the gengar further up the stairs.
What happened next, Eli would leave up to his partner. He seemed to have some idea so Eli would let this man make the next steps. But Eli's black and red eyes focused on the gengar. "Kibou, Boomerang. Eli's voice was almost haunting, menacing. In an instantly the bone club left Kibou's hand as if Kibou was expecting the command. The bone club flying through the air and hitting the gengar in the head twice. The bone coming back and landing into the cubone's hand. Eli turned his head towards the man next to him. "Hope you have an idea..." Eli's sinister grin on his face. It seemed that Eli was testing him, allowing this man to call the shots to see what he had. To see what he could come up with. And to see if he was a worthy partner, Eli wasn't trying to hide that from him at all. He wanted the man to know he was testing him.

to most, theo is seen as someone who rushes in head first without any traces of a plan in his head. sometimes, his actions definitely aid in their assumptions but that's more so because he's reckless. he's not the best tactician but to say that he doesn't at the very least have a plan is insulting. he often proves those people wrong. slasher doesn't see the SHADOW PUNCH coming. he's faked out by the throw gengar punches, only to be hit by its shadow instead. the impact sends him back against the wall, but he's very quickly back up to his feet. cubone's attacks do enough to take the pressure off of him; it allows him to SCREECH again before jumping forward for an AQUA TAIL. it smacks against the gengar, and he uses the momentum to bounce off and back onto the stairs. meanwhile, theo's started to climb the stairs, taking advantage of the distraction they've been given. "you gotta stop it with that grin, man." he says back to eli as the two of them start to ascend. there's no roadblock in their way anymore. "the girl's at the top." or at least, that was his assumption. the two pokemon continue to keep the gengar occupied, allowing them to soon reach their destination.

Eli watched as the other man's totadile continued it's assault after in fact, taking a nice hit by that shadow punch. The large ghost jumping up the stairs as it chased after the totadile. That's when the man started moving, once again telling him to chill out with the creepy smile, Which he only grinned wider to in response of course. The man's plan was clear now, let their pokemon do their thing while they go ahead and find the girl. Though it was a risky and reckless plan. Who knows what other pokemon might be lingering in the shadows waiting to attack. But seeing as that the man had already reached the top of the stairs and had begun to climb up the next set Eli didn't really have a say in the matter.
So Eli followed after him, making eye contact with his cubone. Kibou's usually fierce look suddenly faded, his eyes grew soft and it looked concerned as it saw that Eli was going on without him. Making sure that the other man wasn't looking Eli gave Kibou a thumbs up and a wink, and now instead of a creepy grin, there was a genuine soft smile. Hidden from everyone but his cubone. With that look the fierceness returned like a blazing fire in Kibou's eyes as it nodded in understanding. and jumped into the fight attacking wildly before backing off to avoid any attack. Using bonnerang to keep distance while still getting hits in. Eli turned up the next set of stairs and followed the man who seemed to just do as he please.
The rest of the walk up the tower was relatively quiet. You could hear to battle going on below in the distance from time to time, the only other sound was the creeking of the stairs as the walked up. Having to step over broken steps from time to time and avoid steps that were going to give out if any pressure was put on them at all. But they continued up and towards the top.
About half way up the tower Eli heard something and stopped without saying a word, causing the floor boards to creek loudly. He heard a breath gasp in then suddenly silence. Eli's black and red eyes looked to the other man. "She's here... Give me a moment.. let me talk to her. If that doesn't work you can join in and we'll try together." Eli said to his 'partner'.
Eli began to slowly walk in the direction of the girl, the floor boards creeking lightly under him. There was a reason he wanted to go alone at first. He wanted to share a bit of his story with this girl. Not everything of course, but enough that might make her return to her father. But he didn't feel comfortable with other adults hearing what he had to say. He liked to keep his story a close kept secret.
As Eli drew closer he could hear the child's breathing growing quicker. There was a over turned table that she seemed to be hiding behind. As Eli grew closer he spoke in a soft whisper. "Hello~ My name is Eli. Your father has sent my friend and myself to come find you. He's really worried about you." for some reason Eli was good with kids, even though most were scared of him at first, if he wanted to he could be a really kind soul.
A small blonde head popped up from behind the table, bright blue fear filled eyes looking out at Eli, and glancing back at the other man nervously, Eli wasn't sure if he stayed behind or not like Eli asked so he took a glance to check.

Eli's black and red eyes scanned around to see if he had gone somewhere else in the room. But that didn't seem to be the case. Maybe he was offended by Eli's request? Or maybe he thought Eli would wrap it up and went to go check on his pokemon. There were many possibilities, either way it didn't really bother Eli. He had the room to himself, so he could talk freely with the little girl. His black and red eyes suddenly turned more gentle than normal, looking down at her as the male sat down, reaching up with his tattooed hands and pushing his hair back out of his face a bit. His back leaning back against the table the girl was hiding behind. "My name is Eli, what's your name?" He asked softly, trying to break the ice, to help her feel a bit more comfortable. "Cecilia..." She said nervously as she brought her knees up to her small chest and wrapped her arms around them, holding herself. It was odd, being on this side of the conversation. "When I was a little boy, my father worked at a pokemon graveyard, in a little town far from here called lavendar town. It was a large tower where pokemon who passed away could be burried peacefully and their trainers and friends could come visit them. My father, he was just a grounds keeper. He would spend hours every day making sure the place was as clean as possible. He would polish the tombstones, and if there was a grave site that hadn't been visited in a while. He would put flowers there and spend time talking to the pokemon that had past away. He told me he wanted to make sure the pokemon weren't lonely, even in the afterlife."The little girl's nerves seemed to fade as Eli told his story. Looking up at him her eyes going wide, seemingly captivated. Maybe it was due to the thought of a pokemon grave yard, or what he was saying about her father. Eli didn't try to figure it out, he just kept talking. "I used to go with him on the weekends, I would sit at the pokemon's grave sites and talk to them, tell them about what happened that week. Tell them jokes and stories. I wasn't sure if it helped, but I had seen my father do it so many times, it just seemed like the right thing to do." Eli's face had gone soft, the memories of his kind and loving father flooding his mind. His eyes even watered a bit. But those quickly faded away as the little girl, Cecilia, asked him a question. "Did you ever see them? Did they ever talk back?!" She asked excitedly. Her little hands reaching up and grabbing onto Eli's sleeve, her eyes wide with hope. Eli looked down at her with a soft smile and slowly shook his head no. "No...Sadly I never saw them. But my father did, he said he saw them often. And one day he told me, that the pokemon I visited, that they loved when I came to talk to them. He could seem them listening and how happy it made them..." Cecilia's face was a roller coaster of emotions, the hope quickly faded to sorrow, then back to hope again as he talked about his father's ability, then, awe. She seemed amazed, but then quickly sad again. "I wish I could see spirits... So I could see mommy one more ti-" Her tiny soft voice was choked out as a lump formed in her throat and tears began to stream down her small, dirty face. Eli wasn't sure what to do, slowly he reached out, placing his hand on her head, which was sporting a very messy hair do. In an instantly the tiny girl had thrown her arms around Eli and was bawling. Eli knew there were no words to say to make things better. So instead he just sat there, and let the little girl squeeze his body as her tears soaked his black jacket. The room, once silent, was now filled with the girl's sorrowful wailing, echoing throughout the tower. Eli wouldn't be surprised if the girl's father could hear it from the bottom. After a few moments Eli began humming, a soft little lullaby. The tone was gentle, it was a tone Eli hummed often. Unlike earlier it was missing that more eerie vibe to it though, this time it seemed genuine, comforting. Cecilia sat there sobbing into him, gasping for air once her tiny lungs had no more. She cried, and cried, and cried until she finally began calming down. creeeek. Creeek. Creeeek Cecilia's grip on Eli suddenly grew tighter as she clenched him, now instead out of hurt, it was fear. "Cu? Cubooone?" Eli's lips curved into a small smile. It was his partner, his friend. The one who comforted him in his time of need, and the one who he first comforted. "Don't worry, it's my friend I want to introduce you." Hearing Eli's Voice Kibou came running around the table quickly and jumped into Eli's lap clutching him tightly. The usually strong, stoic pokemon obviously having missed his friend and was worried about him. "Bone! cubone cubone bone bone!" The cubone shouted angrily seemingly lecturing Eli not to leave him like that again. Eli laughed softly and rubbed the top of the skull Kibou wore on his head. "Cecilia, this is Kibou, my cubone. Kibou this is Cecilia. We are all alike. We have lost parents, and know just how lonely that can be..." Eli said with a soft sorrow in his voice. Cecilia's eyes went wide in surprise as she looked at Eli then down at Kibou. "y-you two too?" She asked softly, her voice cracking, threatening to break into tears once more. Kibou simply nodded, his own eyes closing trying to fight back tears. "My father ended up passing away while I was still a child... It was very hard for me. It was at that time I was in the pokemon graveyard, much like you trying to talk to my dad, trying to find him, trying to see him. That I found Kibou, who's mother was brutally killed. Kibou and I joined together and comforted each other until we were ready to continue on with life. To live the life our parents would have wanted us to live. My goal is to collect other pokemon that have had suffering and to create a family of our own. You are welcome to join our family too." Cecilia was already pouring tears from her eyes before Eli even finished his story. Throwing her tiny arms around Eli and Kibou as she sobbed. "We can stay here as long as you need. Until you're ready to keep going. It doesn't mean that you have to forget, we never forget. We just have to bring them along on our journey."Cecilia nodded into Eli's chest. "o-okay!" she yelled as she began sobbing uncontrollably once more. Eli's shirt becoming drenched in her tears and snot. And so they sat there, allow cecilia to feel the painful loss of the death of parent. And after a few hours of sitting there little Ceclilia had worn herself out, crying herself to sleep. Eli gently scooped her up in his arms and carried her down the creeking, worn out stairs. Careful where he was stepping so not to fall through or cause to much noise to wake the sleeping girl. As they reached the outside the father who was pacing saw them "Cecilia!!" He shouted as he ran toward them. Cecilia waking up slowly rubbing her eyes. "d-daddy?...DADDY!" She wiggled out of Eli's arms onto the ground and leapt into her father's arms who embraced her and spun her around as she clenched onto him tightly. Eli's lips curved into a small smile and took his chance to leave the two. They needed each other, and Eli would be sure to come back in the area to visit to make sure she was okay. But the time the two were done embracing and crying, they turned to thank Eli but he was already gone. "bone.. cubone? "Don't give me that, you know I don't do well with all that kind of stuff. I don't need the attention. She is safe and reunited with her Father, and was given her time to mourn. That's all that matters, I don't need to stick around and let people see that side."BONE! Kibou obviously disagreed with Eli, and thought they should have stuck around a bit longer to say goodbye. But those kinds of things made Eli uncomfortable, he didn't like having the attention, and didn't wanna be some 'hero'. He just wanted to make some extra cash, and saw a girl who he knew he could help. It was as simple as that. Plus, Eli had a facade to keep up. Who would think he was creepy if they knew he had such a kind heart inside? THE END |
