374 words DRAGON TALES | When Vannah had been transferred to the Fusube City Pokemon Center, she had immediately noticed all the buzz about the Dragon Den. Dragons, in general, were extremely popular here. For a type that was so uncommon, it was a little... weird. But it intrigued her so much that she decided she might as well check it out. She had signed up like she was prompted by her coworkers and had never expected for it to be her turn so early, but she supposed that since it seemed Fusube was known for the Dragon Den, it must be something a lot of people have the opportunity to experience at least every once-in-a-while.
Vannah entered the mouth of the den cautiously. It was dark and damp, yet surprisingly cool. She could feel why the dragons must like it so much — it probably stayed this heat all year round until winter. And even then, they could just retreat deeper into it's belly to seek warmth. If she didn't enjoy the sun so much, maybe she would have liked living in a den like this.
Not to mention there was this... feeling about the cave. Sure it seemed cold and unwelcoming, but the second she had stepped in Vannah had felt something warm and fuzzy begin to curl up in her stomach. It was friendly and nurturing, almost like she could feel the hundreds of thousands of bonds that were made between pokemon and trainer here over the ages. While she was a little nervous still, it helped calm her jitters. She had to leave her pokemon and other belongings at the Pokemon Center. It was a bit of a bike ride to get here, and the entire time she couldn't help but feel... naked. Exposed. Vannah felt like at any moment something aggressive could come out and hurt her and she'd have no way to defend herself. But after taking a long, deep breath and finding her inner peace again, she let her shoulders relax. That wouldn't happen here — this wasn't that kind of place. It was sacred and built on the growth of trainer and pokemon alike, and so long as she didn't act like a fool, everything should go smoothly.

[attr="class","dfbase"] [attr="class","dftop"] [attr="class","dficon"] [attr="class","dfboxbase"] shark in the water [attr="class","dfbox"] Dark silk hair gathered in the hand of a familiar face, swept to the side for he'd worked quite a sweat acting as caregiver for the dragons today. Upon exiting the Dragon Den there stood an unfamiliar presence outside of the cave. Mateo wasn't expecting any visitors today, so he was definitely thrown off by the sudden appearance. But the visitor themselves would come to see Mateo's following attire. A coat-like shirt with dual rolled sleeves was first seen, where, also, upon the back did a red star show. Underneath the blue top did he, too, possess an open white V-collard shirt that revealed a six-foot two-inch male's pectoral chest; a dragon tooth necklace could be seen worn around the collar area. Over his stomach was a red sash tied around the midsection of his stomach and waist, the tail of the sash draped toward the left. For bottom wear the male would, also, adorn a pair of white jeans. And, lastly, for footwear the guardian of the Dragon's Den wore a pair of black sandals.
"Yo, idjit!" He called out to the pinkette. He wasn't aware that there would be someone visiting today. But that's no surprise with the sudden appearance of newcomers these days. "I'm guessing you're here to visit the Dragon Den? We're not usually open around this time, but..." The girl was pretty cute. In the back of his mind dirty thoughts did invade his space, and, like a girl, he covered his cheeks with the palm of his hands and shook his head in a rapid motion. "I beg of you, I'm a dragon only lover! There's no room in my hea--" Did he just say that outloud?
Quickly regaining his composure, a nervous chuckle gave way. "A-Ah, right! So, you're here for the Dragon Den, right?" He asked the girl, scratching the side of his rose colored cheeks. "Ah, by the way, I'm Mateo Martinez. Guardian of the Dragon Den, Gym Leader of the Fusube Gym." He introduced himself, extending his left hand.

341 words he's a horndog | When Vannah saw the Keeper of the Dragon's Den, she felt overwhelmingly... underdressed. He was in some extravagant clothes, and here she was... in her work uniform. It was a cute pink dress with a white apron, and she thought it suited her well, but it was still a uniform... and it showed that on it's unwashed fabrics. Meanwhile this guy looked like a high class pirate.
But Vannah tried to shake her feelings of intimidation off. He seemed pretty nice and jovial from her first instinct. Why did she feel so nervous? But as soon as the guy opened his mouth, Vannah's stomach froze like a tundra in confusion and exasperation. Did he just call her... an idiot...?
"Uhhhhh..." she said dully, watching with a perplexed stare as the guy clearly looked her up and down. So he was one of those guys.
Vannah was already relatively annoyed before the man spoke again — this time as if he was a young girl with a crush. She continued to stare at him with a very confuse, mildly mad glare. What was... up with this guy? Dragon lover? Did that mean what she thought it meant? Hopefully not, but at this point, she wouldn't be surprised.
"... Yeah," Vannah said blandly when the man asked if she was here for the Dragon's Den. As he introduced himself as Mateo, Fusube's Gym Leader, she continued to feel unimpressed. What was up with this guy? But she sidled her frustration and shook his hand politely before introducing herself. "I'm Savannah. I just got off work, they told me it was my turn up here. They might've been playing a prank or something on me though, I'm sorry that I came unannounced." Truthfully she should've checked to see if it really was her turn and when the Den was actually open, but the thought had slipped her mind as the excitement for the experience took over.

[attr="class","dfbase"] [attr="class","dftop"] [attr="class","dficon"] [attr="class","dfboxbase"] shark in the water [attr="class","dfbox"] The second she touched his hand, he felt a spark. Not one that insinuated romance or anything, but one of promise. Mateo already knew that within the Dragon Den, a dragon would come to be awaiting for her. "Let's go inside," he casually spoke. But, before he'd release her hand, he'd open the palm of her hand--turning it over with the current hand that had yet to release her own. "Here, you'll need it." An empty ball capsule was gifted to her by Mateo. "Alright, then! Let's proceed, onward!" It wasn't until one of Mateo's own dragon's, Noibat, came to fluttering out of the cave to land upon its master's shoulder. "Oi, Noibat, idjit!" He greeted the bat-dragon.
Upon first look of the cave as they ventured inside. The walls began to illuminate with a vivacious glow, orbs hanging upon the wet caverns as they responded to the steps that were taken. Eventually, the trio would come to reach a lake that illuminated a radiant glow, the light from the sphere's that were attached to the walls causing there lights to refract. The lake glistened in a hue of blue light where, before them, resided a wooden boat. Though they wouldn't be taking it at this time, yet
"Alright, do me a favor and touch that lake." That's all she needed to do, the rest would then handle itself. Mateo and Noibat stood near the entrance toward the lake. Egging the pinkette known as Vannah to move forward. "Don't worry, you won't get poisoned or anything from touching. Think of the lake as a crutch of sorts! It'll help with you and your dragon's resonance." Mateo explained.

391 words im so sorry sdfvs | This guy was... a little weird. Vannah scowled a little without realizing as he greeted a Noibat loudly and with the same... endearing? Nickname. Did he call everyone and everything an idiot? That wasn't very polite...
But Vannah's attention shifted from the man to the cave. It had started to glow in sync with their steps, orbs on the walls slowly fading from nothing to very bright, very vivid lights. They refracted off the glistening walls until everything was brilliantly lit and felt surprisingly alive for a cave. She watched the walls closely — they looked almost wet, but perhaps the rocks and stones were just incredibly shiny. She wasn't quite sure, but it was mesmerizing.
When they came across a clearing of sorts, Vannah found herself breathless. There was a brightly-glowing lake that had been hiding her for who knows how long. The cave was cool, but comfortable despite the heat outside. Although she couldn't see any dragons, Vannah could feel their presence watching her.
She vaguely followed Mateo's instructions, only half-listening. It felt like her body was moving on it's own. Before she knew it her fingers grazed the surface of the water, and next thing she new, a Bagon was staring right back at her.
Vannah's fingers were still lightly placed on the Bagon's head. She smiled a little and chuckled with surprise. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she said quietly, but charmingly. "I didn't mean to disturb you. Were you taking a bath?"
She watched the pokemon curiously, a well of pride and care rising inside her chest. She had done it, in a way — she had called upon a dragon in the Dragon's Den. She could see the tenderness in the tiny pokemon's eyes and it made her wish so desperately to take it with her so she could show it the world and find it's passions. But would it follow her?
"I have an idea, if you're willing," Vannah nearly whispered to the dragon, holding out the pokeball Mateo had given her previously. "You could come with me, and I could show you the world. I'm going to become the best Pokemon Coordinator in the world, and I'd love to take you along. But only if you want to."

The Bagon tilted his head at Vannah's suggestion, unsure of what it meant to be a coordinator. All the other trainers that come to the Dragon's Den mostly want to be competent trainers instead of performers after all. The deadpan expression from the dragon remained, as if inviting Vannah to convince her a bit more. She didn't care much, but she wanted a more convincing statement from her than that.
