[attr="class","Vgentempbox"] [attr="class","Vgentemptitle"]PUNISH THE PIRATES [attr="class","Vgentempdiv"] Mission Title: Punish the Pirates Mission Location: Whirl Islands Mission Description: There have been an increasing number of reports of pirate activity near the ports of Asagi City. They've been targeting freighters and stealing their valuable cargo and making off before a retaliation can be mounted. These criminals have injured multiple crew members, but thus far there have been no casualties either human or pokemon. Yet we suspect it is only a matter of time before they grow bolder. We have tracked them down to one of the Whirl Islands, but given the nature of the caverns we are unable to launch a full assault without alerting them to our presence and giving them a chance to escape. Thus we need a ranger familiar with the caves to investigate and pin point their location and bring them in. Unfortunately we can only risk sending one other trainer with them, but we will make sure they are fully capable of handling themselves and keeping them safe.
Your objective is to apprehend them. You are authorized to use whatever force deemed necessary so long as you bring them back alive. Reward will be delivered upon delivery. One of the captains of the targeted vessels has even offered you a bit of the spoils in return for your aid. Mission Requirements: 1x Ranger, 1x Fighter / 8+ posts each Mission Rewards: 1,500 Pokedollars, evolutionary item of choice [googlefont=Montserrat][googlefont=Roboto+Condensed] [newclass=.Vgentempbox]width:425px;background-color:#fff;border:1px solid #ddd;[/newclass] [newclass=.Vgentemptitle]width:405px;height:50px;background-color:#5aa0d6;font-family:Montserrat;font-size:18px;text-transform:lowercase;color:#fbfbfb;line-height:50px;text-align:right;padding-right:20px;[/newclass] [newclass=.Vgentempdiv]width:350px;padding:25px;font-family:Roboto Condensed; font-size:11px;color:#777777;text-align:justify;[/newclass] [newclass=.Vgentempdiv b]font-family:Roboto Condensed; font-size:11px;color:#dc584d;font-weight:bold;[/newclass] [newclass=.Vgentempheader]width:350px;height:50px;font-family:Roboto+Condensed;font-size:15px;text-transform:lowercase;color:#777777;line-height:80px;text-align:left;border-bottom:3px solid #3e3c6d;margin-bottom:20px;margin-top:-15px;[/newclass]

Frederick always enjoyed his work as a ranger. Not only did he get paid to just be in nature and interact with the wildlife, he had the occasional pleasure of doling out justice to poachers and the various types of people who were harmful to the environment. It may not have been as often as when he served on the force back in Kogane, but it was still just as satisfying. But when the opportunity arose to travel to the Whirl Islands and deal with the pirate problem that had sprung up there he simply couldn't pass it up. The idea of kicking a couple good for nothing crimianls out of his favorite spelunking spots was all too appealing to the dark skinned ranger. In fact if he hadn't been given this assignment he just might have had to 'coincidentally' show up and try to solve the problem anyway.
Frederick would arrive to the rendezvous location atop his trusty Yanmega, the massive insect eagerly scanning the area as all six legs simultaneously made contact with the sandy beach. Every time they arrived here Race would have to quickly take in the sights, as he knew that it was only a matter of moments before he would be tucked away into his ball until it was time to set off again. It may have been nice to rest after the lengthy flight across the open waters, but it would've been nice to actually explore the island with everyone else. The long haired man would jump down from his pokemon's back, a hand gently placed on the side of the large bug's round head as he offered him a smile. "You can stay out a bit longer this time, my friend. Just stay put so our partner will be able to find us."
Due to the rushed nature of this operation, Frederick was unfortunately unable to receive a report on the woman that would be joining him for the mission. All he got was the name Fran Fallone and that she was supposedly more than capable of providing any support he may needed to apprehend these criminals. Normally he would have liked to bring in someone he knew would work well with his methods, such as Vivi, Ashley or Azad. The last thing he needed was for someone who didn't understand getting in the way of his work. Too many times had he been paired with people who lacked the firmness to properly handle the situation, thinking that these criminals could simply be reasoned with.
The man let out a soft sigh as he looked off into the distance, pondering the possibilities of what sort of partner he may be forced to adapt to. Fingers tugged at the cuffs of his long white dress shirt before his thumbs would slide behind his suspenders. The man certainly didn't look like he was about to dive into a cave, carrying only a satchel and dressed in his usual unassuming clothing. Yet he didn't seem too concerned about all this, his gaze shifting to the side to look at his eager pokemon. "Enjoy it while you can. She should be here any minute now."

I'M CONSTANT LIKE THE SEASONS I'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ― Criminals; what a bunch of no-talent fucks. Always trying to make up for what they lack by taking it from someone else. There was nothing more foul than a person that couldn't find their own strength and grew so desperate, they would take it from whomever was close by. This was the epitome of weakness. They were asking to get their goddamn teeth beat in. They would soon be gladly obliged.
Fran never made it a habit to take on civilian missions; many were trivial and there were plenty of rangers out there to take care of the masses. But this one she couldn't leave alone. It was not only of extreme importance, but also danger. It was an exciting prospect, and she wanted the opportunity to stretch her own fighting legs.
The sound of ripping tides came bounding across the rocky path. Fran moved slowly uphill to meet the ranger in her steed. Of course she would have preferred to be alone, but she wasn't an idiot. This assault was dangerous and clouded in unknown variables; to go alone was to be killed. So she bit the bullet and agreed to be accompanied by an experienced ranger. She had never heard his name, but was assured that the man would be able to handle the threat with her help. He must be strong.
As she made her way to the edge of the mainland, she could see a figure. Even at this distance she could tell her was taller than her, as most men were. While Fran closed the distance, she discerned the features of who she believed to be her companion.
He had black tousled hair and dark skin. His attire was alarmingly formal. Fran herself adorned only a black tanktop and skintight jeans; her usual "who-gives-a-fuck" outfit. She could see now that he was non-traditionally handsome, and hoped that his pretty face wouldn't get in the way of their fighting.
"Yo," she called after him, now only a few paces beyond. She took notice of his large bug pokemon. A species she had never seen before. Fran wondered briefly if he would be utilizing the beast for the rest of the mission. "I'm Fran," she spoke plainly, allowing the man time to give his own introduction. It was rare she would meet someone older than her. It was sort of refreshing. Perhaps his experience would become more obvious as they started their mission.
She would turn slightly toward a path that led down to a rocky beach. That would have to be where the two would gain access to the Whirl Island caves. "Shall we?" Fran was eager to begin.

An excited buzz from Race was the ranger's first hint that his partner was close. Golden eyes would follow the gaze of his insect partner toward the shape of a woman on the horizon, eyes narrowing into a squint as he struggled to make out the details at a distance. As she came closer and he was able to get a better look at the woman he would find himself being pleasantly surprised. Not only did she have a certain mature beauty to her, there were a few details about her appearance that suggested that she was as capable as he was told.
Simple clothing suggested a down to earth personality, someone who wasn't going to get to worried about getting their hands dirty in there. Her impressive physique and confident stride suggested she was in excellent physical condition and that she wasn't afraid to put those muscles to good use. Hopefully the results of his quick examination would prove to be accurate. Lips curled into a friendly smile as the woman greeted him and offered an introduction, head head bowing slightly as he responded. "Frederick Ferdinand. The pleasure is mine." It was reassuring that the woman's plain and to the point introduction seemed to support his previously formed theories. Now he just to hope that her tough exterior wasn't just a show that would crack once put to the test.
It seemed like before he even had a chance to straighten his posture the woman would be looking in the direction of the cave's entrance and suggesting they get a move on. Shoulders shook slightly as the man silently chuckled to himself, a hand reaching to his belt to pull of an empty pokeball. "Time is of the essence, isn't it? Very well, let's get started." With that the ranger would return his pokemon to it's ball, the yanmega offering Fran a cheerful buzz of farewell before being engulfed in light and being absorbed into the sphere. With that done the dark skinned ranger would start to make his way along the rocky path, steps places carefully to ensure each foot fell on a secure and stable stone.
"Luckily for us these caves are surprisingly well suited for travel by foot. There shouldn't be any need for harnesses or anything. I just hope you don't mind getting your clothes a little dirty." He would look over to the woman with an amused smile, rolling up his own sleeves as he spoke. It wouldn't be too long before the pair reached the mouth of the cavern, where Frederick would stop and turn to his partner. A hand would reach back to his belt to pull off another pokeball which he would idly roll in his palm as he addressed his partner. "Any questions to ask before we get in there?"

I'M CONSTANT LIKE THE SEASONS I'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ― They moved quickly and carefully down the rocky path, flicking stones off the edge of its face. They landed in the water beyond with a plunk. Maybe they would find their way into the swirling vortexes that riddled this sea; being swallowed like a mouse by a cat, only to be released suddenly into some unknown cavern. There, it would find its new home. A dark wonderland of solace.
Perhaps these rocks would share the same fate as the trainers that had kicked them away. All were falling toward some vague destiny, into a blackness unbeknownst to them.
It hadn't been long before Fran and Frederick reached the mouth of the cave. The opening breathed cool air onto them, beckoning with its mysterious groans. "I always dress to get my hands dirty," she responded plainly. This was true; her style was basic and humble, and she kept it that way in case any impromptu training sessions would spring up. Fran would never let her attire get in the way of a good fight. So she never dressed to impress. She dressed to kick ass.
The man turned to look at Fran. She held his topaz gaze in her own emerald eyes. She hadn't noticed his mole before. She searched his eyes while she searched her mind for any questions. Frederick looked seasoned; he had a depth in his hues that can only be reached through experience. They were sharp, yet Frederick emitted a warm that Fran did not. She pondered briefly if all rangers had to be kind. She was glad that was not her career path.
"Uh, yeah," the raven-haired woman started, "do you have a torch, or should I?" Fran noticed Frederick prepare a pokeball. Still, she was unsure of his tactics. She would wait for her companion to light the way, or request her to do so, then push forward into the darkness..

The hint of amusement in his smile grew stronger as she referenced her clothing, only further proving that his earlier assumptions were accurate. Not only was it satisfying to know he still had that investigative touch, but it was good to have full confidence that she wasn't about to hesitate should things start to get a bit messy in there. Though it was still up in the air what exactly she was willing to dirty her hands with. Of course that was a bridge to cross when they got to it, the ranger in stead focusing on the positives that had been presented to him thus far.
The man would take a moment to adjust his collar, as he nodded in agreement with her words, a soft chuckle sounding from the back of his throat. "As do I." There was something particularly amusing about sending out contradicting signals, his words contrasting his unusually dressy appearance. But in his mind clothes, no matter how nice they were, were meant to get dirty. That's what laundromats and dry cleaners were for, right? With that little exchange out of the way Frederick could focus on her question, one that he would answer simply by lazily lobbing the pokeball in his hand. From it would emerge a rather snooty looking ampharos, the electric pokemon's judging gaze looking Fran up and down before relaxing and settling on his trainer.
"Wooly here is more than capable of lighting the way. Just...don't look straight into his tail." Ampharos were well known for the bright light that emanated from the tip of their tail. These things were powerful enough to pierce even the most dense of fogs, which would surely be enough to light the way in the cavern. "Now then, let's see how deep these things go." There was a hint of excitement to the man's voice as he made his way into the cavern, the ampharos following closely behind him.
Once they were inside Wooly's tail would light up, filling the previously dark and shadowy area with a red tinted light. The ampharos would be careful to control how much energy it focused into it's tail, ensuring that the light was bright enough to illuminate the area without blinding the ones it was supposed to be assisting. Frederick would continue to tread carefully, his eyes slowly scanning the area for any signs of danger be they pokemon, loose rocks or even traps set by the pirates. The sounds of the his steps softly echoed through the hollow tunnels, the accompanied by a variety of other sounds native to the environment. It was all quite relaxing to be honest. So relaxing that the ranger seemed comfortable to engage in conversation, albeit with a hushed tone. "So Fran, is this your first time chasing down wanted criminals or is this a personal hobby of yours?"

I'M CONSTANT LIKE THE SEASONS I'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ― What was he, some sort of russian hitman? Or was he just joking? It was hard for the dark-haired woman to tell as she memorized the gentleman's outfit. He looked more like he was going to a business meeting than a fight; a shimmering white dress shirt, suspenders, even dress pants and crisp shoes. A well-dressed man outside of an office didn't really speak threatening volumes. Nonetheless, he shared her sentiment, as confusing as it may have been. She left him to his own devices.
Fran's thoughts were soon interrupted with the crisp light of a pokeball's activity. Out poured the silhouette of a beast shorter than the pair of trainers. The thing shook its fur free of the residual whiteness, immediately staring at the woman. Was it judging her?
Fran squinted her eyes, glaring back at the creature as if to say 'what the fuck are you lookin' at?' The ampharos would only turn away from her before things escalated. If Frederick wanted to use his own personal light bulb to lead the way, Fran would accept. Perhaps that would be more effective than her torch. Her mind flashed to her magmar, probably still slumbering peacefully within his own pokeball.
Frederick's words worked like a pair of giant scissors cutting through a ceremonial ribbon. Now having a sufficient light source, the two dark-haired companions pushed on into the darkness. The temperature crept slowly below a comfortable air, cooling the woman's arms. Her skin rose with goosebumps, but she didn't bother with her discomfort. It wouldn't do any good to complain about the coolness of the cavern. She tried to focus on the dripping. The stalactites drooled water onto the ground, creating small pooling areas all along their path. Fran stepped through the puddles, conscious not to splash her company. Even with the ampharos' light, the whole cave scene felt dark...
It had been awhile since the two had spoke, but the ranger prompted Fran casually. She turned to look at his visage, now enveloped in a red glow. "I won't lie," she shrugged, emerald eyes holding her companion's gaze, "I really do enjoy it." Her words were earnest yet short; a testament to the type of person she was. "I'm assuming you have more opportunity, being a ranger and all," Fran spoke, half asking a question.
Their voices rang through the darkness out of their reach. Fran pondered how deep they would have to go before running into something. Anything, really.
And fate was her adversary. Just as her mind had wandered, regretting how slow the search had begun, a flickering pitch sounded from beyond. Fran halted suddenly. Her muscles tensed as her instincts told her something was coming. "You hear that?" She asked, now looking into the cave's depths. Was it the pirates? No, it sounded animalistic. The sound had now been overlayed with something else, some screeching noise. The beasts were too far away to see, and it was too late when they finally came into sight.
An entire flock of zubat covered the top of the cave. They spread across as much space as they could, like a disease. This meant the wild pokemon came extremely close to the trainers. Fran ducked, covered her head and swatting at the fleeing creatures. A sudden pain slid across her arm. "Tch!" She muttered, immediately reaching into the air, as her first thought was to punish the culprit. Fran plucked a zubat from the herd; whether this was the bat that had struck her or not, it didn't stop her from throwing the thing into the wall. "Dumb fuckin' dick," the fighter called, watching the beast collect itself and resume its position within the flock.
Soon the zubats retreated within the darkness behind Fran and Frederick. The woman pulled her arm up to her face, looking at a newly formed cut. Her skin bled slowly. "You good?" She called to her companion as she rubbed her skin.

Frederick's brows slowly rose as the woman gave a frank answer to his question, head tilting ever so slightly to one side. Not only was this something the kind of job that she sought out, it was one that she enjoyed? How interesting. He may have already assumed that she was a rough and tumble type of person, but he would have never dreamed that he would be paired with a partner that openly enjoyed hunting down criminal elements. The possibility of the pair being able to properly punish these pirates before delivering them to the 'proper' authorities was slowly increasing, which was an exciting prospect to the vigilante.
But he would keep his joy contained for the moment, shaking his head as he turned his eyes away from his partner to focus on the path ahead. "I do, but not as much as some might think. Rangers have many duties, so it's not every day that I get to indulge myself in the hunt like this." It was one of the few things that he missed about serving as an officer in Kogane. Back then there was always a case to be worked, criminals that needed to be shaken down and people who needed to be put in their place. Working with Lore helped scratch that itch a bit, but nothing was quite as satisfying as getting in there personally and cracking a few heads in the name of justice.
The ranger's steps came to a halt alongside Fran's, his brows furrowing and gaze hardening as he stared out into the darkness that surrounded them. As useful as Wooly's light may have been, turning it on to full intensity would have given their position miles away. Thus they were forced to push into the endless darkness of the cavern, something he was quite used to in his time exploring caverns such as these. However it was always difficult to pin sounds in these environments, the constant echoing and reverberations making them hard to identify. "Get ready." Wooly's eyes narrowed as he stared into the darkness, his fur crackling with electricity as he would charge up in anticipation.
Whatever was coming there was more than one, though the echos made it impossible to tell how numerous they were. All they could do was brace themselves for whatever was coming and hope that the ones they were pursuing hadn't caught wind of them somehow. It wasn't until the swarm got closer that Frederick would realize what was headed their way, arms immediately raising to protect his head. "Brace yourself!" Immediately as the words left his mouth the flock would swarm through, most of them managing to dodge their forms while a few would ram themselves into the ranger and his pokemon without a care only to flutter off and rejoin the rest of their swarm.
Fortunately they weren't too numerous or violent and would pass quickly, though a few that were unfortunate enough to bump into the charged up ampharos would end up twitching on the ground, paralyzed from the static electricity. Frederick would turn his attention to Fran, who was clutching yet another one of the poor creatures. It was pretty obvious from looking at her why she was so irritated, a soft laugh escaping from the man as she tossed it aside and he watched it hurry to rejoin it's group.
With a shake of the head the ranger would turn his attention back to the green eyed woman, a hand reaching into his satchel as he spoke. "A few scrapes and bruises, but at least I'm better off than your friend over there." He looked down at himself as he spoke, his previously pristine clothing now riddled with patches of dirt and a few tears from the creature's wings.
The dark skinned man would pull a small plastic baggie containing a white cloth out of his bag, which would release the faint aroma of alcohol as he opened it. Fingers reached in and pulled out the cloth, which he would hold out toward his wounded teammate. "Zubats aren't exactly known for their cleanliness. Might be a good idea to disinfect that cut." They were making good enough time that there was no reason to hurry on at the risk of long term repercussions.

I'M CONSTANT LIKE THE SEASONS I'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ― Perhaps this man was too lighthearted. After all, he was saying things like "brace yourself." That's something out of a cartoon. The way he dressed to the way he spoke was all very different to Fran's demeanor, yet she still felt a kinship with him. It was like a flickering ember in a snowstorm, but it was there. Maybe it was what lay behind his golden eyes, something she hadn't discovered yet. Something she may not have the time to.
He would laugh at her as she cracked the bat into the cave wall. The swarm delivered themselves to the mouth of the cave beyond, almost as quickly as they had interrupted the trainers' gait. What an annoying type...
Both the travelers were now in less-than perfect shape. Fran gripped at her arm with a frown pressed along her lips. She caught the wrinkled cuff of her companion in the corner of her eye. He was pushing a disinfecting bandage toward her. It wreaked. Her rough hands brushed across Frederick's palm, taking up the towel. They felt a little rougher than she expected.
The raven-haired woman sucked on her teeth while she wiped the trickling blood off her arm. She rarely bothered cleaning her cuts, but the ranger may know more than she on these matters, so she didn't question it.
"Thanks," Fran muttered, pushing the towel back toward the dark-skinned man. She was sincere, but the annoyed undertone in her voice couldn't be masked. Getting scraped by a weakling was aggravating enough, but being the source of their mission's hiccup was too much. Even if the duo weren't in a rush, Fran was never one to waste time. She wanted to get to work.
She bent slightly to dust off her jeans. "Alright alright," she started, "we can keep going." Fran straightened and looked at the topaz hues of Frederick before moving forward, temporarily taking lead of the company. She would walk slowly until the ranger moved up to walk alongside her. His ampharos continued to lazily light the path through the cave.
So the three would press on. If it were possible, Fran would believe the cave was growing darker as they moved further within. It felt as though they were being swallowed into the belly of a great beast. The blackness was unsettling...
Fran was on edge. Each cool breath that slipped between the trainers made her hair stand on end. Other than the element of surprise, they were at a disadvantage. She had to assume these pirates knew the caves better than they did and were more equipped for fight in such environments. It was only a matter of time before they would be caught in a dimly-lit, tight-spaced scuffle. It wasn't the ideal field, but she would adapt.
And as they moved through the cavern, Fran would continue to build scenarios in her head in which she would be forced to defend in difficult battles. I was the only way she would feel prepared for what lay in wait in the cave.
With Fran caught in her own thoughts, the two moved quietly for awhile. Her eyes were vexed on the ground as she continued to kick rocks around her feet. It wasn't until a the ampharos' light cast an abnormal shadow onto the ground did she look up once more. The fighter's emerald eyes crept onto the massing of a large, black rock. Upon it was a grotesque and threatening message, accompanied by a childlike drawing. She glowered. "They have got to be fuckin' kiddin' me with this shit..." Fran muttered, turning her head toward her companion. Would he be frightened, or angered?

The ranger nodded in agreement as he took the cloth and stuffed it back into it's baggie before placing both of them back into his satchel. Perhaps his suggestion on the side of caution had annoyed the woman, but that couldn't be helped. Better to have a mildly annoyed partner than one that was at risk of becoming more of a liability than an asset. Luckily she at least seemed to be genuinely faithful for his assistance, so he couldn't really be too upset with her outlook. Especially considering that they did need to keep going if they didn't want to risk the operation.
With a quick gesture toward Wooly the trio would continue to cautiously make their way through the tunnel, the ranger now putting aside his enjoyment to focus on the task at hand. Before he felt comfortable enough to simply take in the cavern's relaxing atmosphere and engage in some light conversation. But there was no telling what had disturbed the flock of zubats. For all they knew their targets were going to be just around the next bend, and Frederick for one wanted to be ready for it. A hand would move up to the cylindrical holster that ran parallel along his suspender, fingers slowly undoing the metal button that held it closed and before sliding out the black metal cylinder it contained. He wouldn't do anything with it just yet, simply keeping a tight grasp on it as they continued to move in deeper.
His steps would start to slow as a vague shape appeared on the horizon, the hand gripping the cylinder raising up to be level with his shoulder. Legs would bend slightly as his stance shifted, left arm bent slightly as he held it out in front of him. His relaxed expression hardened, golden eyes narrowing as he focused on the mass in the distance. He wasn't sure what they were about to find, but it was definitely out of place. It seemed they had finally come across the pirate's lair, and he wanted to be sure he was ready for whatever came at them.
Yet the man's squared shoulders would relax slightly as they got close enough to actually see what had been pained on the boulder. Frederick's brows would furrow, a hint of confusion appearing in his expression. After a slight pause his lips would curl into an amused smile, his shoulders shaking slightly as he did his best to stifle a chuckle. "Is this the pirate's hideout or a child's 'secret base'?" A bit of laughter slipped out of his throat as he looked over to Fran, shoulders rising and falling as he shrugged. "I suppose we'll have to add vandalism to their list of crimes. Shall we?" A hand would gesture toward the path as he turned to continue to move deeper into the cave, maintaining a slightly more relaxed version of his previous battle ready stance. Part of him was expecting to round the corner and see a bunch of children in pirate costumes at this point.
Just as the warning sign suggested it wasn't too long until signs of activity had started to reveal themselves. At this point the cave's floor had been riddled with litter. Food wrappers, beer and soda cans and even a few discarded pieces of clothing that they no longer had any need for. It seemed that the gang of thugs were as dumb as their sign suggested, as it seemed that the group had absolutely no security precautions set up to ward off or even warn them of intruders. Perhaps they thought that their hideout was too well hidden to be found, and that any random cave divers would have been scared off by their little warning sign.
The long haired ranger's steps would come to a halt as light came into view in the distance. A flickering glow reflected off the damp cave walls around the corner, suggesting that it's source was just around the bend. A hand would raise to Wooly, the ampharos nodding in understanding and dimming the light of his tail to where the group could only see each other and the ground just in front of their feet. "This is it. Prepare your pokemon. We move in as soon as you're ready." Despite the impending conflict Frederick's voice would remain completely level, his previous lightheartedness replaced with pristine calmness. Yet even in the dimmed red light of Wooly's tail there was an unmistakable determination in his eyes. This was a man who was ready to see some action.

I'M CONSTANT LIKE THE SEASONS I'LL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN ― There a sort of unspoken rule among the top tier of criminals that if you were going to do something wrong, do it right. Or so Fran understood it. At least a strong work ethic is something she could respect, though she hadn't run across a lawbreaker that earned such a thing from her. Scanning the chicken-scratch phrase and illustration that looked as though the artist was ten-years-old and had parkinson's disease, Fran started to paint a picture of her own. Like their painting, these losers couldn't be much to look at. What a bunch of clowns...
A soft laugh emitted from the ranger. Fran caught her company's gaze. He reacted to the threat as well as she had. The raven-haired woman shrugged in response. The additional crime may have meant something in the eyes of the law, but it made no different to her. Fran was already committed to dealing justice the way she thought fit; beating the pirates within an inch of their life.
It was only at this moment that Fran had noticed the ranger's weapon. She blinked, eyes running up and down the baton. Frederick may have had a lighthearted manner, but he meant business. Her earlier preconceptions of him being too lighthearted were squashed as she continued to try and pinpoint the nature of her partner. After all, a team is only as good as how well its members understand one another.
They moved through the darkness once more, trailing behind the ampharos' like ducklings following their mother. With the sign as an indicator, Fran didn't believe the troupe to be far from their enemies. Her muscles flexed with anticipation.
The floor of the cave became covered with a layer of man-made sediment. It had become a dump: dirty rags, apple cores, bottles, cans, wrappers, etc. Fran was careful not to step on any of the trash, so as not to give away their position. Immediately aware of the lack of perimeter security, the woman could only believe this trash heap was their way of signalling an incoming presence. Or in this case, two exceptionally riled up forces of the law.
Frederick, Fran, and the ampharos moved toward the bend. A flickering light licked the walls of the cave. They were close, but before the company moved in, they collected themselves. To hide effectively, the electric-type dimmed its tail, pulling the trainers back into darkness. Fran waited for her eyes to adjust before addressing Frederick. Her jade eyes fixated on the topaz orbs in front of her. His demeanor hadn't exactly changed, but more so shifted from what it was before. The midnight-haired woman was used to being the most level-headed in a hostile situation, but Frederick's calmness matched hers. She was reassured it wasn't necessary for her take point, though the ranger still offered to wait until she was ready to move in.
Fran cracked her knuckles. "Oh, I'm ready," she spoke in a low tone. She pulled her hands close to her belt, anticipating the need for her pokemon, though she decided to wait until she surveyed the situation in its entirety. The fighter moved away from the wall, walking slowly around the bend and into the sight of the pirates. She threw her fists onto her hips, fiercely staring the culprits down. "You the pansy fucks that keep stealin' pokemon?" She asked, though Fran believed she already knew the answer. "Cause you're about ta answer for your crimes in a painful way," she smirked a toothy grin, eyes burning.

Should I play the grieving girl, that my world has gone dark without you. I will sing no requiem.
