Thankfully Lars wasn’t too preoccupied at the moment, otherwise he’d have found this gigantic dragonfly—which he eventually found out to be a Yanmega thanks to its owner approaching his ‘campsite’—a little too close for comfort. His hand had gone into one of his coat’s pockets and was about ready to pull out his Quilava when he noticed that he wasn’t alone anymore.
“At least I don’t smell too suspicious now, do I,” he began with a bit of a chuckle. As for the next question?
“Not really, I was just getting settled to look for Beldum. I heard they appear around here, but I haven’t seen one for some time now. Makes me kind of wonder if they do exist or they’re just a figment of my imagination,” he continued with a frown on his face.
Before he could ask the other for their name, a blur shot out form a nearby bush—in fact, Lars didn’t know that there were two shadows—and the first one was apparently a Flying-type. Instead of his Quilava’s Pokéball, he instead changed tracks and decided to give this one to his Trapinch—never mind if the other one was ridiculously small and had an overlarge jaw that blocked most of its view.
As the little antlion emerged from the flash of red light, the Fearow then opened fire with a
Drill Run attack—and he was pretty sure that the little one wouldn’t even make it out of the encounter—but he had the perfect block to this incoming attack.
“Use your Rock Slide, that’s the only thing that can stop it from hitting you!” he began, and the little Ground-type then snapped its jaws together, before slapping both of its stubby little feet on the dirt. A few moments later, a sudden avalanche of rocks came raining down around the incoming Flying-type, forcing it to land due to how many boulders were falling down and all around it.
Yes, that’s a good start! But that’s not even the end of it yet… he thought, before the Fearow picked itself up and approached with an
Assurance attack—he had a few moments to think, and fast!
“Get out of the way, it’s coming right at you! Use your own Feint Attack!” and not a moment too soon, the Ground-type disappeared; which meant the Fearow ended up smacking itself against one of the fallen boulders instead!
A few moments later, a snapping noise coming from the Fearow’s tail feathers meant that the Trapinch had reappeared again, and was now content with chomping down on the Flying-type’s tail. Unamused with how it was being attacked, the Fearow then craned its neck around and attempted to smack into the Ground-type with another
Assurance—and this time the smaller one got hit, sent flying off to one side!
Ah, shit! He thought, quickly cutting across the field and reaching where the Trapinch had fallen, knocked over and unable to get up due to its overlarge jaw weighing it down.
“Are you okay?!” he began, before the Ground-type snapped its jaw again.
“Okay, let me get you up again…” he continued, helping the Trapinch get right-side up before it snapped its overlarge jaws again and summoned a second
Rock Slide without warning, aiming it at the snickering Fearow’s direction.
Okay, that wasn’t what was in the plan, but seeing as it works… Lars thought a few moments later, watching as another avalanche of boulders pelted the Fearow, cutting it off mid-snicker. As the Flying-type continued to let out a painful shriek of surprise, another
Rock Slide came tumbling down around it, adding to the pile of boulders the Fearow was getting trapped in.
Since Ground doesn’t work, stick to Rock for the time being! He mused privately, as he heard another muffled shriek, before the Fearow eventually pulled itself free and crawled back into the bushes where it had emerged from.
