Pokemon Gyms are a place for trainers of all kinds to put their teams and strategy's to the test. These Gyms are located all throughout the region, each with their own player controlled leader. These Gym Leaders each specialize not in a specific type, like in the canon series, but rather an environment type. This makes every Gym a unique challenge that puts trainers in new and interesting positions, challenging everything they knew about standard battling.
[break][break]
As mentioned above, Gym Leader positions are mostly held by members of the community. As such, there are certain requirements for a player to request a position as a Gym Leader. You must have an average of 30 posts between all of your characters in order to apply. Gym Leader characters are allowed to start/join with three level thirty pokemon for their personal team instead of the typical single, level 05. However, they still can only have start off with four moves and may not have an Egg Move nor Hidden Ability.[break][break]
To apply for a position, simply message an Admin either on the forum or on the Discord to discuss the details of your Gym. When requesting the position, please already have an idea of what theme and team of Pokemon you wish to have in your Gym. Be mindful of the other Gyms -- we don't want two Gyms with the exact same gimmick. Gimmicks can range from various weather effects or situations occurring during battles that can change it flow to mechanics of the Gym itself. We encourage you to try and be unique and create gimmicks that stick to your 'theme' that show off what your character's Gym is all about![break][break]
Similarly, try not to over complicate your Gym, or add unnecessary hurdles for Trainers to pass through. While the Gym should be challenging, it doesn't need to be obnoxious or exhausting for the player. Keep enjoyability in mind![break][break]
Your Gym Leader's pokemon team used for your Gym is separate from your character's personal team. These 6 selected pokemon can be from any generation, and possess any ability or moves, including Hidden Abilities and Egg Moves. However, these pokemon are strictly used for Gym Challenges only. [break][break]
The pokemon you choose (make sure to include their abilities and move-list when submitting the information) alongside the idea and written information of your Gym must be submitted to an Admin for approval. Once done, you'll have your own personal Pokemon Gym Board created within your designated City/Town.[break][break]
Like the games, if a challenger wins your Gym Thread, you'll reward them with a TM of your choice that relates to your Gym. Which is why, upon contacting an Admin for acceptance of your Gym, you'll need to present a list of 3 TMs that your Gym could possibly award challengers that claim victory.[break][break]
Checklist of Information to give an Admin for Gym Leader Acceptance[break]
Please remember that by being Gym Leader it is your responsibility to stay active in dealing with all those who challenge your Gym. A general rule of thumb is that it shouldn't take more than a week or so to reply to someone's challenge thread - they should be your priority. This is the responsible you take if you decide to claim the role of Gym Leader. Failure to actively respond to your Gym Challenges may result in your characters removal from the position - however, we'd really prefer not to do this. If there's a problem of some sort, please feel free to bring it to Admin attention.
[break][break]
On VICTORY! players are only allowed to take on one Gym at a time, per character. However, if one of your characters loses at a Gym, they must wait a month before re-challenging said Gym. Before you create a Gym Challenge thread, it's common courtesy to first ask the Gym Leader's Player if they're taking on challengers / anymore challengers. Remember to make sure to read all of the Gym thread's information before starting your thread, some may require special tasks or note important information.[break][break]
Thanks to new "Level Sync" technology, all Gym Leader Pokemon are set to roughly the average of your team of Pokemon. Most of the Gym Leader's Pokemon will always be on par with your team, but there's a good chance you will find yourself fighting against a Pokemon higher level than yours. This is especially true if a particularly inexperienced trainer attempts to tackle a Gym well before they're ready.[break][break]
Upon winning a Gym Challenge, both trainer and Gym Leader will receive a monetary reward, and the trainer their respective badge. Similar to the games, the Gym Leader will reward the Trainer with a single TM of their choice. A trainer may receive bonus rewards based on their performance and other factors. [break]
Upon losing a Gym Challenge, the trainer may still receive a small bonus reward based on performance and other factors, while the Gym Leader will also receive a monetary reward for their job well done.
