Life's not easy for a prodigy -- really. Raziel grew up in center stage, all eyes of Shalour City on him from a young age. He was the star pupil at the Shalour Academy for the Gifted and Ambitious (SAGA), which attracted students from all over Kalos. Year after year, he would work harder than all the rest and maintain the highly sought-after perfect marks. Some said he was pushed too hard by his moms, but every ounce of knowledge he soaked up was for his benefit, and his alone. His early childhood was spent being adored by the adults at SAGA, his later childhood spent being hated by his peers. Raziel was always sure it was because he was the best that he was resented -- eventually, he figured out that his compulsive need to be right, coupled with his thirst for popularity and high-maintenance disposition could make him painful to be around in certain scenarios. In recent years, these raging drives have cooled to underlying desires, but they crop up now and again.

When the time came, he chose to stay in Shalour to study under a researcher looking into seismology in the ocean depths off the coast of Kalos. After a year, he moved to Anistar City across the region to study invasion ecology in the route bordering Anistar and Snowbelle. To keep a long story short, Raziel fell for the professor in Anistar, things got complicated, and Raziel was screwed out of the publication. Shame and anger took him on a flight back to Shalour City, but his return made it apparent that life there was too small for him, and he could no longer fit into the box life made for him there. So his research supervisor in Shalour sent him off to Johto to head up his own research. Now here we are!

So yeah, Raziel can be somewhat...overzealous. He is competitive, bright, ambitious...perhaps a lot of traits one wouldn't want to deal with on a daily basis. But at his core, Raziel is a good guy. Step outside of the realm of academia to see him in a kinder light, one that paints him as empathetic, caring, gregarious, boisterous even. He has learned to be normal for the sake of others, and has a penchant for hiking and sailing thanks to some of his research opportunities. Ask him to drinks, he'll say yes. Dinner, sure. Hike, of course. Battle, absolutely. Edit your thesis? You'll rip it from his cold dead hands after you've killed him yourself.

Raziel literally knows no one in Johto. He has shipped off on his own, which leaves him more open than usual to friendships. He gravitates toward academic types (despite sort of hating them because he must be better than them), but could use travel companions, battle companions, whatever!

Raziel can be somewhat easily provoked if you're a dickbag, so don't be one? Obviously he can be annoying, with his...annoying nature and what not, so I wouldn't be surprised if people didn't really like him all that much sometimes!

Raziel loved and lost...and was run out of town...and the region for the embarrassment. He's still pretty hurt, but maybe the right guy (Arceus help aforementioned Right Guy™) could make him better.
