[attr="class","victorious"] [attr="class,"victorious1"] [attr="class","champions"] Tonight we are victorious [attr="class","champions"] ACCESSING ••• [attr="class","victoriousscroll"]Alceides' greatest dilemma had always been on which path to take his life forward. His parents had never prodded him to follow after them but, truthfully, that was even worse than if they had done so. Encouraged to follow his dream instead, he couldn't quite decide from the multitude of options presented in front of him. He could aspire to conquer the Pokemon League or become a Gym Leader following the path of a traditional trainer, which had the appeal of contesting against other strong opponents. He could venture the path of a coordinator instead, opting to utilize beauty, grace, and above all creativity to truly showcase his Pokemon. He could become a breeder, and take care of several pokemon at all times! There were so many career paths and they were all amazing and held a certain amount of interest to the boy.
His first action toward a decisive answer was to go out and explore the world, instead of sitting around stewing. His goal was to find his first friend, that he would catch himself, and hopefully getting in motion would be the first of a series of good luck hits. To his dismay, however, catching Slothy the Slowpoke hadn't done much for him except give him a taste of battle. Though it was exhilarating there was no large sense of accomplishment attached. Of course, he was incredibly proud that he had been able to successfully capture his first pokemon without much issue yet...
He had a feeling that when he was doing what he was meant to do, then he'd know! Or maybe not, and maybe he'd waste away without accomplishing much. Either way, today his mind was on the Ranger track.
His parents had decided to live in Hiwada, most likely so they could be closest to the forest and nature. Following that state of mind, he had decided that he would immerse himself within Ilex so that he could ascertain exactly what drove a Ranger. He wanted to be near the Wild Pokemon, get a feel for how they behaved when they weren't in battle or evading capture. Aside from the basics, the boy lacked any true feelings of drive or emotion. In truth, he was passive to just about everything though always finding the brighter outlook on things.
Becoming frustrated with his own indecision, he gripped his hair and pulled it, slightly, and groaned in frustration.
"How should I know what makes a good Ranger? Or even one at all, what makes a Ranger?" he mused aloud, looking toward his purple friend as if she could, or would, be the one to answer all of Alceides' dilemmas. There was something especially relaxing about Ilex forest. The way it seemed like night fell the moment you entered into it was interesting at first, but the longer he walked beneath the canopy and lost track of the time the more at peace he felt. Tiny on the other hand was as alert as ever, his nose and ears twitching as he sought out pokemon to test his might against. "Don't worry my friend. Today is your day. I'm sure we'll find you a worthy opponent." Spurred on by the encouragement the small rodent-like pokemon let out a grunt, scurrying a short ways ahead as it continued it's search.
Frederick smiled at the excitable beast, taking a moment to tug at the sleeves of his dress shirt before slipping his thumbs behind his suspenders. There was a slight chill to the air, as the sun could just barely shine through the thick canopy. As much as he would have liked to stop and take in the sights it wasn't long until Tiny would suddenly cop to a stop, his head turning to the side as a sound caught his ears. "Go on. I'm right behind you." Upon receiving permission the male nidoran sprinted forward, darting and weaving through the trees as he closed in on the target. Frederick followed closely behind, his long legs allowing him to keep pace with his little friend.
It wasn't long before they came across a clearing where a lone boy stood with an aipom at his side. From his posture and the way he was clutching his head it was clear he was distraught, perhaps even lost in these woods. The tall trainer held a hand down to his pokemon, gesturing for him not to approach just yet. Frederick watch him for a moment with narrowed eyes, his gaze only softening when he heard the young man's words. It was tough to make out from the distance, but he could at least clearly make out the word 'Ranger'.
Regaining his smile Frederick would step out of the forest line and into the clearing, taking a few steps toward the young man with open arms. "Greetings my friend! Are you in need of a ranger?" Tiny followed him out into the open, his eyes locked on to Momo. As much as the little pink creature looked like he wanted to fight, his trainer appeared to feel just the opposite. "Are you a bit lost? I could help find your way out of here if you would like."

[attr="class","victorious"] [attr="class,"victorious1"] [attr="class","champions"] Tonight we are victorious [attr="class","champions"] ACCESSING ••• [attr="class","victoriousscroll"]Letting loose chestnut locks, Alceides eyes darted up at the sound of rustling indicating an approach. Apparently the lone word that had travelled past the treeline had been 'ranger' and, to his incredible luck, someone who seemed ranger-esque appeared! Matting his hair to a respectable position, he straightened his posture instinctively.
"Oh I er, not exactly," the boy began to explain, releasing a nervous chuckle.
"I'm from Hiwada, so I know Ilex well enough." he answered, casting a glance toward Momo. The Aipom had become extremely excited at the appearance of a new Pokemon, running a lap around Alceides, before greeting the Nidoran with a wide grin.
"To be honest...I was just wondering if I had what it takes to be a Ranger, or if I even want to be one." the boy confessed to the older man who had appeared, sporting dark messy hair. If he could infer from his initial question, this man was an actual Ranger. Despite meeting due to a stroke of chance, perhaps he could deliver some insight for the kid. Any nudging he could receive to finally make up his mind would be welcome.
"My parents were both active Rangers, and they don't push it on me. Momo here isn't particularly picky about what she does, either, so I'm mostly stuck!" he went on to explain, opening up even though he had just met the man. Such was Alceides nature, he believed the best in everyone due to a happy-go-lucky upbringing. Even now he chatted friendly with the man as if they had been chums for a long time.
Momo was lost in its interactions with the similarly sized Pokemon, attempting to persuade it into chasing it or engaging in some sort of play. The Aipom's curiosity was immense, often finding itself in trouble due to her antics. Yet, despite ending up in trouble or possibly hurt, she would gleefully repeat it all.
Turning back to the man, he realized that despite his candor he had refrained from even introducing himself. Chiding himself internally, he extended his hand toward the man. "By the way, I'm Alceides Belmont! The 'S' is silent, and it's nice to meet ya!" the boy introduced himself with a wide, crooked grin.

A brow rose as the young man started to explain himself, his eyes locking on to the younger man's as he listened intently. The smile remained constant, as did his relaxed posture. Once he finished Frederick would nod slowly, a hand moving to brush a stray strand away from his face. "I see. So you find yourself at a crossroads without a compass." There never seemed to be any shortage of young trainers without any idea what direction to take their lives in. Of course he couldn't blame them, as there was an infinite amount of possibilities to choose from. And locking on to a specific goal could be intimidating if one didn't have the strong desire to see it through to the end.
Placing a hand on his chest Fred would bend at the waist in a slight bow. "Frederick Ferdinand. The pleasure is mine, I'm sure." He glanced down at his Nidoran, features hardening as he stared at the pink pincushion. As expected the little guy was responding to Momo's playful antics with angry growls and grumbles. It was clear that the little rodent was more interest in fighting the aipom than engaging in any sort of games. Any time Momo would get close Tiny would take a step back, doing his best not to attack until given the order. "Tiny. This boy and his pokemon are our friends. You will relax." When addressing the pokemon his tone would completely change, his tone harsh and scolding yet completely devoid of anger. In response to this Tiny would reluctantly relax his posture, staring up at his trainer while doing his best to ignore the aipom.
Upon straightening his posture his features would immediately relax, regaining his calm and welcoming smile as he looked to Alceides. "I apologize for Tiny's behavior. He still has a ways to go before his training is complete." Frederick took a few steps forward, closing the distance until he could reach over and place a hand on Al's shoulder. "I want you to know that these frustrations are not unique to you. All young trainers reach a moment in their lives where they must decide what path to take. At the start of your journey you will feel inadequate, inexperienced. And that is because you are. In fact it will be some time before you are worthy of accomplishing anything."
He paused for a moment, raising his other hand with a single index finger extended as if requesting one more moment to complete his thought. "But the fact that you admit you may not be worthy means that you will be. Admitting your weakness is the first step to gaining strength. Speking as a fellow Ranger, I encourage you to keep following in the footsteps of your parents. I'm sure it will take you far."

[attr="class","victorious"] [attr="class,"victorious1"] [attr="class","champions"] Tonight we are victorious [attr="class","champions"] ACCESSING ••• [attr="class","victoriousscroll"]It seemed that Alceides' words had reached the man, his statement an affirmation of this. Knowing that this man could empathize, or at least understand, his plight caused the boy to relax a bit. Tension had been built up from his strife, certainly not from the man himself. This feeling was reinforced when, mere moments later, the man introduced himself with a humble bow. The action itself caused the boy immense embarrassment, evident with the blood rushing to his face, as he looked away and rubbed the back of his head.
He wasn't attuned to such formality, nor respect, so such a superfluous greeting was one he had no clue how to deal with. Though they had now finished exchanging introductions, the man revealing his name as Frederick Ferdinand. It was kind of catchy, actually!
Turning to his Pokemon, it seemed his Nidoran was ready for a battle. The thought piqued Alceides' interest, but he thought better of it. He enjoyed allowing his Pokemon the time to shine and exercise in competition but, at this current moment, he needed to overcome the immense indecision in his life. No matter what path he took, battling would come in spades later. For now, he needed to decide just in what manner those battles would be. In front of an audience, showcasing Momo's dazzling, though seldom, elegance? Utilizing her strength in order to protect other weakened or distressed Pokemon? Though the thought was truly noble, it held no emotional attachments to the boy who had never experienced true strife.
Turning to the boy, he would attempt to apologize for his actions but he would have none of it. Calling Momo back to his shoulder, he shrugged it off. "Nah, it's okay! She needs to chill and give some space, don't ya? he questioned lightly, gazing at the Aipom who grinned and nodded maintaining her position.
The man advised him that everyone, or most people, feel the way he did and for good reason. Though the way he spoke could be taken harsh, Alceides was simply glad to be given any advice at all! The hardest to swallow was his final sentence, before lifting a finger as if asking him to hold on a second and let him finish before speaking up in possible discontent or outrage. He finished up by encouraging him to continue following the path of the ranger.
"I appreciate it! And sometimes I feel that way, as well." he admitted.
"Yet, I haven't done anything Ranger-like. Of course, I've battled so I already see a Training aspect. Coordinating seems to fit best with Momo's personality, and it could be really fun. But aside from battles, I haven't done anything to further any possible aspect of a future." he said, eventually speaking more so to himself becoming lost in his own thoughts, before frowning again.
"So, what's it like in your daily Ranger life? Why do you find it so fulfilling?" the boy probed, desiring more information.
The crossroads in front of him were daunting, and being a Ranger did seem like it was the best option! He could make his parents proud and help Pokemon as well, but if he had no personal drive for it then it would be him forcing himself. He wanted to find a reason to be a Ranger, though not realizing he may have to find a reason within himself.
He knew that he was asking a lot of the man he had just met, but the aura he gave off was very dependable if not a bit brazenly frank.

Yellow eyes glanced down at the pink pokemon, giving him a nod as the aipom hopped on to it's trainer's shoulder. It was good to see that he was making progress with Tiny. When he first acquired the ornery little guy he probably would have tried to impale the playful monkey the moment it got close enough to strike. But now he as able to calm himself and focus, even if he needed a stern reminder every now and then to do so. But before long Frederick was sure he would have the most well behaved nidoran, or nidornino, that people have ever seen. But now wasn't the time to dwell on his feisty pokemon. There was a young ranger here that was in need of guidance.
It came as quite the surprise when the boy took his words in stride, not seeming to have even a bit of resentment toward his harsh lesson. It seemed like most of the time he told someone that they took offense at the idea, likely thinking that they were somehow special. Like they shouldn't have to work hard to achieve great things like the people before them did. It was a frustrating attitude to say the least, but it made moments like this shine brightly. His shoulders relaxed as he received the positive response, his gaze softening a bit as he gave Alceides' shoulder a firm squeeze. "Of course. I only speak the truth, my friend."
Soon it became clear that the young man wasn't just unsure of whether he was worthy of being a ranger, he was actively considering taking another path in his life. This was concerning. Training was fine, but it lacked any purpose beyond self fame and self promotion. Coordinating was the same, but he could at least enjoy a more peaceful approach to pokemon training. Not that it's something he could ever get into, of course. Frederick's smile grew wider as a question was posed to him, shaking his head as he pulled his arm away from Alceides and slid the hand into his pocket. "That...That is a good question."
He took a look down at the nidoran, his free hand gesturing down at the small pokemon as it stared up at the two of them. "Do not be mistaken. This nidoran is my most powerful pokemon. Do you realize what that means?" He glanced at the brown haired boy's features, pausing long enough for him to think for a moment but without giving him room to speak. "It means that while I am not new to the concept of using pokemon to protect, I have but recently become a ranger. I'm afraid I had to leave my old team behind when I took on this journey." Tiny scrunched his nose, not quite liking the idea that his weakness was being pointed out to another trainer. Yet if there was one thing his owner's training had taught him it was that he still had a long way to go before he could become truly powerful.
"If you're looking specifically for the experiences of a seasoned ranger I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere. Sorry to disappoint. But if there is anything else I could do for you I would be more than happy to oblige."

[attr="class","sintop"] [attr="class","sinmain"] [attr="class","sinlyric"]undecided [attr="class","sinlyric2"]but optimistic [attr="class","sin"] [attr="class","sinbody"]Despite the fact that he had delivered the harsh words, Frederick seemed to physically become filled with relief, relaxing once it seemed that the boy wasn't going to lash out against him. The action almost made him stop and begin to giggle, but he thought better of it. It wasn't as if the situation was 'no laughing matter'; there was just a time and a place! Giving his shoulders a soft, yet encouraging, squeeze he confirmed that he was speaking the truth.
Despite the fact that Alceides had probed into his personal life, requesting the reason why he was devoted to the ranger lifestyle, the man seemed unperturbed. Removing his arm from the boy, his hand slid into his pocket and admitted that it was a good question, though his tone was laced with some undiscernable emotion.
Apparently, the question he had posed the man needed a detailed response. Taking a moment, he began to explain that, at the moment, he was simply a beginner ranger. And, while he was no stranger to battling and the likes, he had begun his ranger journey anew with a fresh team. Honestly, it was something that the boy would've done, too. So, at the moment, his strongest Pokemon was the rather aggressive Nidoran at his feet. Peering down, both Momo and her trainer simultaneously contemplated how strong the Nidoran was, to be labeled as the strongest. Alceides' did empathize with his words, though, it seemed that there was a bit of a misunderstanding. Frederick believed that Alceides needed a seasoned Ranger, and that wasn't completely true.
Though someone with much more experience could answer his inquiries with a higher rate of fluency and eloquence and probably ease, they also had years to come up with their reasons. This man was a new ranger, who had just decided that it was what he wanted to be. If so, then what drove him toward that decision?
"I'm not really in the search for experience, they've had time to think on the answer. You've just become a Ranger so, if you don't mind my asking, why?" he asked, completely serious.
It wasn't fair to ask so much of him and normally Alceides was so carefree and optimistic that it was borderline childish. And yet, when it came to his future, it was the only thing that caused him to gain a dead serious attitude. He was genuinely interested in what had caused his decision, the driving force behind it. Was it seeing a Pokemon on the verge of life and death? Did he witness an enormous forest fire? If it helped make up his mind, even if just a bit, then he just had to know!
"My parents told me that we come from a long line of Rangers, and my mother had just wanted to help since she hated battling. That doesn't really apply to me, and I'm not interested in following the ideals of my great-great grandparents just for the hell of it. I need a reason!" he stressed, attempting to explain his reasoning and his desires to the dark-haired man in front of him.

The dark skinned trainer laughed softly as the young ranger seemed to insist that more information be shared. From the tone of his voice it seemed like he was being completely serious. In fact as he went on it sounded like this question had been weighing on his mind for quite some time now. And for some reason that seemed to amuse Frederick. Or maybe he was just glad to finally see someone who was asking the right questions. Whatever the case he looked like he was enjoying the conversation, not even hesitating to share more about himself.
"I'm sure your ancestors had good reasons, but I agree with you. You can't build your life on another person's convictions. You'll never be happy or satisfied like that." It was disappointing to hear that his family seemed to be pressuring him to take this path. As much as he agreed with the choice in general, it would be meaningless if he didn't chose it for himself. He couldn't even imagine where he would be now if his mother tried to force him to follow in her footsteps. Letting out a sigh laced with irritation he would look to the boy with a more neutral expression.
"The short answer is I realized that pokemon are more worthy of my protection than humans. So I packed up and became a ranger so that I could do so." He crouched down to be closer to his nidoran, carefully stroking it's head to avoid the poisonous needles that riddle it's body. "Of course pokemon are like people in that they can be both good and bad. But never will you find a pokemon taking advantage of a human. Twisting and using them for their own perverted gains." He looked up at Alceides, lips curving into a weak smile. "Of course my motivation has been some fourteen years in the making so I'm not sure how much help it is to you. But if the sight of injustice lights a fire within you, I would say that the path of a ranger is right for you."

[attr="class","sintop"] [attr="class","sinmain"] [attr="class","sinlyric"]undecided [attr="class","sinlyric2"]but optimistic [attr="class","sin"] [attr="class","sinbody"]Frederick seemed to take the boy's personality in stride, releasing a soft chuckle which eased the serious boy. Beaming back at him, he didn't realize how much he was enjoying conversing with the man. Having been sheltered for so long, he had never noticed how much he craved a bit of socialization. Even though the man was, as far as Alceides could tell, moderately older, he hadn't gone out of his way to disparage his naivety or his questions. It was quite relaxing, allowing him to lower his already pitiful guard completely to the floor.
"Regardless of if they did or didn't, that was ages ago. Times change," he stated, ever ignorant of the way the world works.
He didn't like being hindered by things he didn't understand, it just didn't fit with his style. Even if he had a narrow view of the world until it received a system shock. Momo giggled in her ears, signaling her agreement with him. Although, when it came to situations when she needed to, she always agreed with him or simply ran away to avoid an explosion.
It wasn't as if he couldn't understand what the man was saying, especially as he tenderly and carefully began to pet his Nidoran. Often times, people were simply disgusting in their manners and actions. Though crime wasn't exactly rampant, people were no stranger to it either. A Pokemon had never walked up to anyone with the intent to harm, or do harm. They were generally passive, kind beings only acting a different way if they were mistreated or raised evil. So wanting to protect them from humans actually made a lot of sense to him.
And yet, as noble as it was, it didn't seem to spark an incredible sense of justice within him. Or even at all. He wasn't apathetic to the plight, but, as he had been advised by the man mere moments ago, he shouldn't do something that didn't appeal to him. He had to continue searching for something that stoked the fires within his soul.
"Hmmm, maybe being a Ranger isn't for me then..." he mused aloud, looking to Momo for support yet, obviously, she could provide him with no counsel.
He hated to waste the man's time though. "Thank ya, you've been a big help! All this talk has made me really curious," he said, looking at Momo as she nodded and giggled in excitement.
"Tiny, was it? It seemed like he wanted to battle, and that's the best way I can thank you. What do you say?" he mused, leaving the decision up to Frederick.

Frederick had to keep himself from frowning as the young man expressed sudden disinterest in being a ranger. As sad as it was to see him take a more selfish path, he couldn't be the one to make his decisions for him. After all, not everyone could be a ranger. Some people just weren't cut out for it. And with how soft Alceides seemed to be it may have been in his best interests to pursue a different course of life. Pushing this thought to the forefront of his mind the ranger kept a smile on his face as he rose back to his full height, now looking down at the younger man.
"Of course. I've enjoyed this conversation, actually. I wish you good luck in whatever path you choose to take." So long as that path didn't involve any criminal activity, of course. But with a boy like this he really doubted that was going to be much of an issue unless he got REALLY taken advantage of. And since that was a possibility he couldn't shake his desire to steer the boy right. Even if he didn't end up taking up the mantle of a ranger, it would be good to know that his attitude wouldn't be destroyed by the wicked deeds of others.
As soon as the word battle was uttered Tiny's pins bristled up, his nose twitching as he stared daggers at the purple monkey. Frederick smiled broadly at his pokemon, a hand running through his hair as he let out a soft sigh. "Well I suppose it wouldn't hurt. I did promise the little guy some training today. Would be a shame to disappoint him." Looking back to Alceides he would give the trainer a nod, his pocketed hand toying with the two shrunk pokeballs in his pocket. "I accept your challenge. But know that I don't hold back, no matter who I'm fighting." As he spoke he would start to walk backwards, gesturing for his nidoran to follow. Once a good distance back with Tiny positioned in front of him he would give his new opponent a nod. "Whenever you're ready, Alceides."

[attr="class","sintop"] [attr="class","sinmain"] [attr="class","sinlyric"]undecided [attr="class","sinlyric2"]but optimistic [attr="class","sin"] [attr="class","sinbody"]Though he had disregarded the idea of justice, the boy didn't want nothing to do with it. Rather, he just decided that being a Ranger, forcing himself for the sake of pagaentry, wasn't going to be how he'd live his life. If he'd believe in justice, from his very core, then it had to be normal and how he naturally felt. And, if Frederick would continue to be an influence in his life, then he had no doubt that such a path would reveal itself before long. He had already made his decision, taking fifteen years in the process, but at this point, there was no use worrying about it. He had spent so much time dawdling, just thinking, but now he was finally getting live experience! Alceides would make sure to bump into this man as much as he could, sure the man would have answers along the journey!
Standing up and affirming that he was enjoying himself, as well, the boy beamed his crooked smile at the man, for the first time releasing his true happiness. The conversation had taken a curve, oddly, yet, it was partly thanks to him and his words leading him to realize his feelings on a ranger life. Up until now, he had never even considered justice or anything the likes of it. He was in his own little boxed-in world, knowing only what he was told and never doing much to find information on his own.
"Thank you, I hope we'll keep meeting each other on our journies!" the boy answered, eyes gleaming toward the man. Unbeknownst to him, he had just taken on the figure of an older brother and that meant that he was going to attempt to be around Fred tons. Was this meeting a blessing, or a curse?
Alceides had thought that, while the boys conversed, the Pokemon would be lost in their own world. That thought, however, was delightfully proven false when he said the word 'battle', the Nidoran at his feet standing at full attention. The very sight caused the boy to break out with a chuckle.
"He's ready to go, isn't he?" he asked, rhetorically, smiling at the spirit of the Pokemon. It was something that he admired in his own.
"Good, there'd be no point if you weren't trying your all, too!" he answered, glad the man had no intent to take it easy on the boy.
He considered letting Slothy out to begin the fun, but it was more likely that he'd get fired up if he came around later. Momo was already out of her ball and shaking with glee at the prospect of a contest. To her, everything was just a game and this was no different. Nodding at her, she dove off of his shoulder and into a spot not too close or far from the one Frederick had named Tiny.
Most likely out of kindness, he would nod at the boy and indicate that he should initiate the combat. Fine with him, though, he was often better at countering. Taking a deep breath, and shaking away all thoughts except battle he was ready.
"Okay, Momo! Let's start things off with Swift!" he ordered, the Aipom gathering the energy in her tail, taking the form of a single star, before swiping it and releasing multiple toward the Nidoran. How would they react? Alceides' blood was pumping already!

Good. It seemed Alceides wasn't too opposed at the possibility of failure. Though it was possible that he could have felt that he would win no matter how hard Frederick tried, he suspected that the younger trainer was humble enough to realize that every battle came with the strong possibility of failure. In fact when the long haired trainer accepted the challenge in the first place he knew full well that he may not come out on top. That was simply the nature of battling, one that only leads to frustration if you don't accept it. His eyes narrowed as he watched the Aipom, yellow eyes quickly examining it's body and movements as it got ready for battle. The cheerful pokemon was with out a doubt going to be quicker than his nidoran, so he was going to have to anticipate taking some hits. Hopefully Tiny was fired up enough to power through a couple strong hits without letting it get him down. As soon as Alceides started to give his instruction to Momo Fred would suddenly speak out, his voice regaining the firmness from when he last addressed the pink pokemon. "Double Kick."Tiny bolted forward upon receiving the order, moving in to close the gap while his opponent charged up it's swift attack. From the look of determination in his beady little eyes it was clear he had no intnetion of avoiding the attack, instead aiming to charge through and deliver a strike of his own. Even as the stars released by his opponent cut through his skin Tiny didn't seem to lose any momentum, pushing himself forward with raw determination. Once close enough he would kick himself off the ground to lunge forward, bringing his rear legs forward while in the air to deliver a powerful double kick with both legs directly toward Momo's face. Not only did the feet connect, but there was also the risk of the purple monkey coming into contact with one of the poisonous pins bristling from his body. With any luck one of these would prick Momo, poisoning her. lvl 10 Nidoran Male (Poison Point)Poison Jab | Toxic Spikes | Double Kick | Horn Attack | Focus EnergyTiny was hit by Swift!Tiny used double kick! [attr="class","sintop"] [attr="class","sinmain"] [attr="class","sinlyric"]undecided [attr="class","sinlyric2"]but optimistic [attr="class","sin"] [attr="class","sinbody"]Honestly, one of the most amazing things about the scene unfolding in front of the youth was the change within Frederick. He had given off an incredibly stern, yet, palpably warm aura yet it was kicked into full gear when he was commanding his Pokemon. Voice hard, though not harsh, he commanded his 'Tiny' to act the moment Momo had began to charge up her Swift. That was what he was friggin' talking about! It was no fun to sit around, waiting to exchange blows. Momo and Alceides were at their best when they were constantly moving, one of the reasons being a coordinator struck such a resounding chord within him.
This was the sort of combat he enjoyed, ever fluid and constantly changing. Despite the fact that she sent out the flurry of star-shaped energy blasts, the Nidoran had no intent on backing down or even moving tactfully. No, Alceides wasn't surprised by now, he had gotten a glimpse of the battle-ready Nidoran. There was no way he'd dodge or block or move, he would take it head on and retaliate.
"Man, I want that Nidoran!" he couldn't help himself proclaiming, a wide grin on his face.
Such fighting spirit was incredible, certainly larger than even Slothy's who had been rumbling within his ball with excitement. Getting in close, the Nidoran launched forward with its feet and savagely kicked his Aipom twice. Not only was it a super-effective move against the normal-type Momo, but the spines on the Nidoran had struck as well leaving the simian with a poisoned status as purple bubbles began to float forth from her.
If it wasn't bad enough that she could just barely cling on from the fighting move, but the poison made sure that she was kicked while she was down. The usual grin on his face had faltered, changing to worry as he encouraged his partner to get up.
"I know it hurts, Momo, but we haven't even shown him the extent of our bonds, just yet!" he cried, lifting her spirits and leading her to cry in agreement. Surely, they couldn't take much more damage, especially not from another Double-Kick, but they couldn't stop with such a poor showing.
Grinning once she was ready to begin again, he considered his options. Getting in close was probably a bad idea, though, they probably knew that he'd be thinking as such. There was something they could do, but it would probably leave them wide open. Eh, well, whatever will be, will be.
"Use Sand-Attack! he would command his Pokemon, who would dig her tail into the ground before swiping upward creating a wave of sand.
Hoping to take advantage of the distraction, they would begin their true assault only hoping the first portion succeeded. Regardless of the outcome, her trainer would fearlessly relay his orders.
"Use your tail to vault up, and use Scratch when you get down!" was the second order, knowing fully well that this was the climax. Entering their range was incredibly reckless, but it showed his incredible inexperience. He had bonded with his Aipom, there was no doubt, but they had not fully created an original attack style. Their moves were sloppy, too rushed, they reeked of the boy's nature.
Yes, it would be a rude awakening for him.

Frederick nodded as the kicks landed and the poison started to take effect. Though he kept any praise to himself, watching in silence as the two pokemon battled. It was interesting to see how Momo seemed to perk up as her trainer offered encouragement, the sight nearly bringing a smile to the stern trainer's face. But his features were unmoving, focused intently on the movements of both his team and their opponent. Not even the praise toward his pokemon was acknowledged, his face looking like the compliment went in one ear and out the other. Despite the serious damage she had taken Momo looked like she was planning on fighting till her last breath. Good. That at least showed that Alceides was getting the most out of his team, even if his methods were very different from his own. Yellow eyes darted between the pokemon as Momo used her tail to kick up sand into Tiny's face, the cloud getting in his eyes and causing him to take a few steps back in a vain attempt at getting away from the cloud. Knowing his pokemon, Fred was sure that if he didn't step in immediately the nidoran would start flailing about and make the situation worse. "Calm yourself Tiny. Focus your energy and wait for the follow up attack and give them another set of kicks.." Upon hearing these words the poisonous rodent would take a deep breath to help focus energy. As he did a faint purple energy started to form around his body, the glow revealing his outline inside the cloud of dust. The next moment the aipom came charging forward, looking to land a scratch attack. Once again Tiny made no movement to dodge, instead using his keen hearing to detect the direction of approach and turn to face the attacker. Rearing up on his back legs this time he would kick his forelegs up toward the attacking pokemon. He felt the scratch rake across his body, letting out an irritated grunt as he powered through the attack. Between the two attacks he wasn't in the best shape, but he clearly still had a good amount of fight left in him. lvl 10 Nidoran Male (Poison Point)Poison Jab | Toxic Spikes | Double Kick | Horn Attack | Focus EnergyTiny was blinded by Momo's sand attack!Tiny used double kick! [attr="class","sintop"] [attr="class","sinmain"] [attr="class","sinlyric"]undecided [attr="class","sinlyric2"]but optimistic [attr="class","sin"] [attr="class","sinbody"]Overzealous in his actions, the boy had utilized two attacks in succession without giving it much thought. The reasoning behind it was most likely his subconscious, and for now unrealized, desire to become a coordinator deep within. Just how did that pertain to the situation? Coordinators used combination moves more often than not, utilizing two moves in their set in order to create a greater one. Though it wasn't as beautiful as one would expect to see at a contest, it had the same sort of rhythm.
Needless to say, a contest wasn't about the battle - the two had very different rhythms and it seemed he had not learned the difference just yet. As his Momo descended, ready to attack and deliver scratches to the Nidoran. Within the cloud that had emerged after the Sand-Attack, the Nidoran was enveloped in energy as Frederick had commanded him to focus. Throughout the whole battle, the man had maintained his stoic disposition and, truthfully, it had bothered him a bit.
He wanted him to get just as fired up as he was, instead he seemed solemn. Alceides was beginning to understand what he said, his reasoning as being a ranger. Using those ideas, a Pokemon battle would be something you attended to almost like a chore. Is that why he refused to smile, or get into it, even when his Nidoran was complimented or into the battle himself? It was an odd feeling, frustration, and understanding mixing with one another.
Regardless, he couldn't attend to his thoughts any longer when the dust finally cleared and revealed their plan. Standing on his forelegs, hind legs pulled back in preparation, they aimed for the moment Momo began Scratch and slammed both of his feet into the Aipom one after the other. The air knocked from her, poison racking up damage, and a super-effective critical hit all lined up and launched her backward.
Leaping forward to catch her, he bit his lip in frustration as he experienced his first actual loss. Up until now, Momo and Alceides had powered through any challenge they were met with. Losing stung, but he already went into the battle believing that even a loss would be good knowledge. Calming down, he realized it was true. He had learned how to properly chain moves, and just how strong a Pokemon can become when truly in sync with their trainer.
Frown morphing into a smile, he released a sigh. "You battled hard Momo, there's no regrets." he spoke to her, before sending her back inside of her capsule.
Briefly his fighting spirit flared up again, demanding him to send out Slothy and battle more. But surely Frederick had more pokemon, as well. Continuing on for the petty sake of pride was worthless.
"I think we can stop there, you've shown me just how far I am." he shot him a grin as he spoke, though still holding Slothy's ball within his hand.
"Although, if you want to continue, I'll surely oblige," he left the decision up to Frederick, not really caring if they continued talking or continued battling. He was simply having a good time!
