"It feels so good to be away from that city." The male said with a sigh of relief. He needed a break from the large metropolis that is Kogane City. Though the rush of being in a big city was fun, he missed being able to stretch his legs around the ocean. Spade came from Asagi City, spending most of his life around the water and experiencing the melody of the seas on a daily basis. It was a great way to relieve stress, and just clear one's mind of unnecessary thoughts. Not many feelings beat looking out at the ocean, staring at the endless horizon, and enjoying the few of the waves breaking against the shore. He shook his head free from the memories of his home town, and kept on walking along Route 35. At least there was a small body of water to somewhat enjoy.

He had heard of a National Park being south from his current location, but honestly, there wasn't much excitement drawing him towards that park. It was nice to be away from Team Virus, doing his own thing, and exploring the region like he had always wanted to. Now he had two friends on his journey with him, though the two of them were both asleep in their PokeBalls, or at least doing whatever it is Pokemon did inside them. "I still haven't had my first Pokemon battle against a trainer... Though I'm sure it'll come, there's no reason to rush things. I'm enjoying the start I've had anyway." He was always thinking, but nowadays, he made it a habit to pay attention to the present instead of looking too far ahead or reminiscing too much about the past.

Spade also went out of his way to move along the grassy areas of Route 35, though sticking close to the small body of water nearby. He wanted to encounter another Pokemon, regardless if it was going to be captured or defeated. Him and his Pokemon needed training, and the new trainer wasn't going to slack off. He had already started his Pokemon journey a bit later than most, so he had a lot of catching up to do in that regard.

| Oswald had been on his way to the National Park, somewhere he had heard a lot about but hadn’t explored just yet. Kogane City was quite the place to explore and lived up the expectations that Oswald had. He was still a Lumiose boy at hear that wasn’t a surprise to anyone seeing how that was where he was from. There was something about the Kalos city that resonated with him in a way that no other place has just quite yet but when he found that place it was going to be one hell of a city that was for sure.
Along the way Oswald had stopped in the Route just before the Park. He had some time to kill and was honestly curious as to how the Route was like. It was a nice little path next to some water, adding to the peaceful vibe the place was giving off. From where he was he could somewhat see the entrance to the park that he was headed to, giving it only a couple of minutes before he would reach it. The stop was not only just to take in the scenery but also for some training, something his Pokémon could use.
However it seemed as if he wasn’t alone on this route, someone of close enough age to him and he figured this person was relatively new to the trainer thing just like he was. ”Looking for a Pokémon too eh?” Oswald called out to the other trainer on the route. ”I’ve got a good feeling about today; feel like we’ll run into something interesting.” He added as he began to look around for something that catches his eye. Something to add to his journal would be great, making this stop definitely worthwhile. The only thing about it was now finding a Pokémon.

As his search for Pokemon continued, a passerby decided to join him in his endeavor. This was the life of a Pokemon trainer, huh? Traveling the region, meeting new people and pokemon, and seeing how far one can get on their journey. Spade was definitely of a competitive nature, so his goal was eventually to become the strongest trainer their was. A natural goal, of course, but it was good to aim high, so even if one misses by a few meters, they were now much closer than when they originally started. "Yes, so far no luck. But with your energy, I'm sure we'll get something good." He responded in kind. "My name's Spade, by the way." He said, just before he got interrupted by two Pokemon he had yet to see.

"You are good luck, huh?" A smile was fixed on his face. His hand dug into his pocket for his PokeDex and extended it towards the two new Pokemon. It was a Pachirisu, a electric type, and a nidoran, a poison type. Interesting. Though, neither of these truly enticed him enough to capture them. It wasn't that they seemed weak, it was simply they didn't give him the same feeling in his chest that he received when he first met his Charmander, and though on a smaller scale, when he came across Swinub. "I'll take the Pachirisu! It looks fast, I want to see how well my Sköll can adjust to a speedy Pokemon." He exclaimed, reaching for the specific PokeBall on his belt. Enlarging the device, he threw it a few meters in front of him and released his Charmander.

The Charmander immediately recognized what was going on, and straightened it's posture. "Sköll, use scary face!" The technique was meant to lower the speed of the Pachirisu, which it did effectively. It looked almost as if the Pokemon had been paralyzed. However, despite this, the quick squirrel looking thing immediately retaliated with a quick attack. The speed at which it launched itself caught the two of them by surprise, and Charmander was caught by the attack. "Hmmm, it seems Scary Face doesn't do much when faced against an attack like that. But I'm sure it's natural speed is still lowered. Sköll close the distance, and let off a flame thrower." That it did. As the Pachirisu was retreating to it's initial position, Sköll charged forward and once it was close enough let off a roaring flame thrower that engulfed the electric type in it's essence. As the fire dissipated, the Pachirisu was left on the ground unable to move. "Good job Sköll. Though for now, we'll have to wait to use that move when you're close enough because it's too much of a risk for you to shoot it at a long distance since it's a bit inaccurate at this level." His Charmander came back to his feet and awaited what was next. "I wonder what else will show."

| ”Spade, huh? Oswald, nice to meet you.” The trainer responded, introducing himself to the fellow male. And it would seem like Oswald was good luck after all seeing how shortly after a duo of Pokémon appeared before the two trainers, one of which caught Oswald’s eye the most. Pachirisus were a native to Sinnoh so seeing them here was a treat. While data being recorded in the Pokédex was important Oswald enjoyed recording things in his journal such as sketches and writing down additional notes for him to view later. It was just a fun little thing that Oswald did.
With this in mind he rushed to get some things down before his friend here engaged in battle with the Pachirisu, taking not that Spade was using a Charmander. The other Pokémon that appeared was a Nidoran, the male variant. Something that wasn’t too unusual for this part of Johto but an interesting find nonetheless seeing how they weren’t common where Oswald was from. In a similar fashion to his friend here, Oswald decided to use his Charmander in battle as well. Summoning forth Sol from his pokeball the Charmander let out a bit of a roar, ready to battle.
”Alright, let’s not let them steal all the spot light.” This was something odd about the Nidoran ever since Oswald had released Sol for battle. The way it glared at the Charmander suggested that there was more to its desire to fight than just protecting territory. Next thing the duo knew the Pokémon lunged, using a Double Kick attack. Since their opponent had decided to make this battle close quarters, Sol countered this attack with Slash, the two Pokémon getting a decent hit in. The Nidoran was appearing to possibly be a tougher foe than Oswald originally thought going in.
Next the Nidoran fired off a poison sting attack, one which was countered by Sol using ember. Due to the spread of both moves and despite their clashing there were a few strays that managed to do damage on the two components. ”Alright, you smokescreen!” Sol created a smokescreen, obstructing the Nidoran’s view. In its rage, the Nidoran lunged forward in an attempt to find the Charmander. But alas it missed and Oswald took this opportunity to order a Fire Fang, a move that delivered the final blow to the Nidoran. With that done, Oswald congratulated the Charmander on a job well done. Would they have another worth opponent?

"It seems we both have similar taste in Pokemon." He chuckled, drawing attention to the two Charmander that stood by their owners upon victory. "Maybe you can be my first rival, eh?" A bit of a tease was tossed Oswald's way, but before Spade could build upon it another duo of Pokemon found their way towards the group. It seemed they were drawn in by the noise made by the previous battle. The ditto that stood in front of him and his Charmander looked eager to engage in battle. Spade had learned about the pink blob in school, it had a unique ability to transform into a replica of whatever Pokemon it mirrored. It even learned the same moves, which fascinated the Virus member. However, a Pokemon like that didn't deserve to be on his team. Instead, this would be a good lesson for Sköll. Defeating oneself was key to growing, despite the peculiarity of the situation.

"It seems selfish of me to say as I'm not the one actually fighting, but man. They could keep on coming, this is perfect for our Pokemon. Nothing like a battle royale to test their might." He exclaimed to Oswald, who was standing a good distance away with his own battle. It wasn't a Pokemon he recognized, though it's apparent features gave it's typing away. A bug type, something that Oswald's Charmander should easily take care of.

The ditto wasted no time in transforming. It's body shaped itself into a replica of Sköll, with the same moves and features. However, it didn't have the heart of Sköll, nor the guidance of his trainer. "Sköll don't be worried! He may look just like you, but he doesn't hold a candle to what you're capable of. Now, let's show him what you're made of! Trap him with Fire Spin!" Despite others opinions, fire spin was a very useful move, and would only prove to be a staple in his arsenal the stronger he became. Sköll released a whirlwind of fire that covered the psuedo-charmander and kept it still in it's tracks. The psuedo-charmander began to panic and utilized Slash to attempt to break the fire spin. On it's first attempt it got burned, however on it's second it managed to break through. Tsk... What did I expect, we're only starting out. His moves don't carry that much of a punch yet..

The psuedo-charmander began to gather fire in it's maw, preparing to use flame thrower. "Sköll, side step the flame thrower and use Slash!" As the psuedo-charmander released it's flame, Sköll quickly stepped to the side, and despite getting singed a bit on it's left arm it charged in before the flame thrower dissipated and let off a powerful Slash to the temple of the psuedo-charmander. The attack had left the 'Mon unconscious, and another victory was given to Sköll and his trainer. "You're on fire today buddy, I promise I'll feed you something real good today." Sköll's ears perked up as it returned merrily to it's trainer's feet.

| ”Well they do say that great minds think alike.” Oswald joked in response to Spade pointing out their identical partners. Another pair of Pokémon appeared before them, probably curious as to what was going on with all the noise that was made in the last battle. A Ditto and a Yanma, both finds that weren’t new to this region but the Ditto was rather rare. Fighting Dittos could be a pain the ass due to their ability to transform. If you weren’t prepared for such a thing the fight could go south real fast but it seemed his new friend here was more than ready to take on the Ditto.
So that would leave the Yanma for himself and Sol. They had the type advantage so that was a plus but Yanmas were tricky little things so it wasn’t going to be as cut and dry as one might think. ”A battle royale huh? I like the way that sounds, let them keep coming!” And with that the battle commenced with the Yanma making the first move. A tackle attack, something that didn’t seem like a big threat but this bug type was fast. So fast that it made contact with Sol, knocking him off his balance.
It did the same attack again, this time moving faster than before and again making contact. How was it getting progressively faster? ”Sol, we’re going to have to look out! I think it has the ability Speed Boost!” And it was an annoying one too. The Yanma was going to do nothing but get faster and faster with that ability but perhaps they could use it to their advantage. ”Let the Yanma get close and then use Fire Fang!” With the command out Sol stood his ground, preparing itself for another blow by the bug type Pokémon as it came at him.
The Yanma used Bug Bite, an attack that wasn’t all that effective but still did damage nonetheless. But the Yanma was close now and gave Sol the perfect opportunity to use Fire Fang. ”Now fling it and follow up with an Ember attack!” And Sol did just that. The Charmander flung the Yanma across the ground and fired off an Ember attack before it could regain its composure. The attacks overwhelmed the Yanma and took the win for the trainer/Pokémon duo. ”Alright! Good Job out there, Sol! That Yanma stood no chance.”

Spade made sure to keep an eye on his new friend while he battled. The other Charmander sure was strong, it would be very fun to compare each other's starters every time they would meet up with each other later down the road. It was interesting see how it used Fire Fang to combat the Yanma in close quarters. "You have a strong Pokemon there. It'll be fun to battle down the road, the next time we meet." He said with a smirk.

Another two Pokemon made their way onto the battleground. Spade took out his PokeDex to identify the two unknown Pokemon. They were both electric type, with the ability static. An electabuzz and a electrike. "You don't mind if I take this Electabuzz right?" He asked, before focusing his attention on the bulky Pokemon. It seemed rather upset with these newcomers upsetting the natural balance in its territory. Well, that wouldn't matter after the case, since Spade was going to capture this Pokemon, or at least attempt to.

"Sköll you ready? Last one and we get to go and rest. Give it your all buddy. Start it off with Scary Face!" He commanded his Charmander. Who in turn immediately acted, letting off his move that would in turn lower the Electabuzz's speed. However, this didn't work out in his favor, as the Electabuzz immediately shot off a Thunder Shock that caught the Charmander. "Sköll, trap him in a Fire Spin before he gets another chance to use that move!" The Charmander shook off the damage it received and retaliated in turn. Fire was released from his maw, and trapped the bulky electric type from moving about. The flames encircled the Electabuzz, damaging it over time but also frustrating him as well. "Don't let up! Use Flame Thrower before he has a chance to break through." Fire gathered itself in Sköll's maw before being let off in a stream towards the entrapped Pokemon. It caused an explosion that launched the Electabuzz a few feet back. Despite the damage, he was a tough one and went into attack mode immediately after getting up.

It was using Quick Attack, however, both Spade and Sköll witnessed that very same move earlier against the Pachirisu. "Wait for the perfect moment, and use Slash as soon as it closes in. He shouted towards the Charmander. Fortunately, the explosion gave the Charmander enough space to prepare itself despite the Quick Attack coming for him. Just as the Electabuzz was going to collide with Sköll, he met the electric type with an infused Slash that caught the Pokemon right on the top of it's head. However, due to the collision Spade's Charmader was sent a few feet back. Though he was hurt, Electabuzz suffered the brunt of the damage. It was time to attempt to capture the weakened Pokemon. Spade quickly grabbed at a PokeBall on his belt, enlarged it with a click, and launched it at the Electabuzz. The patented red light enveloped the Pokemon before sucking it inside the PokeBall, it dropped to the ground and Spade waited to see if he would stay in or escape.

| Sol was doing exceptionally well today, so much in fact that Oswald decided that maybe he should let the Charmander indulge itself in one more fight. Sol didn’t seem like he was experiencing any wear and tear so he should be good for one more. ”You and your partner aren’t too shabby yourselves.” Oswald smiled, having taken note of Spade’s Charmander. The two were doing well, and Oswald agreed that it would be fun to battle the next time they met and hopefully then they’d both be much stronger. It’d be a lot of fun Oswald was sure about it.
Two more Pokémon decided to come out of their hiding and face the two trainers. Before Oswald could settle on an opponent Spade spoke up, stating his preference for one of the Pokémon. ”Sure, go for it and good luck.” Oswald gave his new friend here thumbs up before focusing on the other new Pokémon that arrived. An Electrike, a rare find for somewhere like Johto and as such Oswald went to recording the encounter. Before Oswald could finish the Electrike went for the attack, throwing the trainer/Pokémon duo off as they were not completely prepared for said attack.
”Quick, use Ember!” The fire attack stopped the Electrike in its tracks. At least that’s what Oswald thought but the electric type kept charging, using the attack known as Spark. The attack struck the Charmander, managing to knock the poor fire type off of his balance. The Electrike was not done, it charged at Sol again, using spark once more. In response to this, Oswald had ordered a counter attack and this time it was another Ember attack. This time the attack appeared to stop the Electrike in its tracks, leaving the electric stunned a bit and trying to compose itself.
Oswald would follow this up with a Slash attack which was the final blow to the Electrike, the duo of Oswand and Sol being the victors. ”You did great today buddy, definitely deserve some rest and a treat.” Oswald gave his victorious Charmander a smile and a pat on the head, more rewards to come later. Oswald would watch and see the result of the capture before telling Spade that he would be on his way but hoping that the two of them would one day meet in the future. Today had been quite the eventful day, and a productive one too.
