"Ilex Forest, huh." He mumbled to himself. Spade was now staring at the entrance to the dense forest, which was also known as Route 34. The Pokemon trainer had heard quite a bit about this forest on his way here, and all of it had excited him instead of scared him away. People were indeed quite afraid of the dark, and darkness in a forest was something that most would rather avoid. Spade enjoyed the dark, it relaxed his mind to be surrounded by it. Despite this, he was here to search for Pokemon to add to his team and not having a light source would prove to be a disadvantage. Fortunately, his trusty Sköll held enough fire in his tail to do the job. "Come on out, buddy." He said softly, releasing his Charmander from the depths of it's PokeBall. The red light briefly lighting up the surrounding area before Sköll's tail lit up the vicinity around the two of them. "Well, we're off. Be on guard Sköll, who knows what's waiting in there to pounce on us."

The two of them entered into the Ilex Forest, and were greeted by a great number of trees, and perpetual night. "On second thought, it's not as dark as I thought it was going to be. But since you're already out here, might as well tag along for the entire time." Spade then remembered his Swinub, and thought it was probably napping anyway, so he left it alone for the time being. As the two moved deeper in the forest, there was beginning to be less space to properly move. Thanks to the light provided by Sköll, the two of them were able to watch where they were going without much trouble. It would have been very unfortunate to trip and fall in an area like this. Who knew what was waiting in the trees and shrubbery that surrounded them.

Spade heard a voice a bit further into the forest than he currently was, and decided to move in on it. It was true that trainers ventured into this forest from time to time, but since it was close to night time already outside of the forest, he wasn't expecting anyone else to be inside the forest. Him and his Charmander moved onward till they uncovered the source of that voice.

I thought you were tailing it, Skitty!" Cried the unfamiliar voice. "I'm pretty sure it was a Pikachu, or so I thought; it kind of looked like a rugged costume attempting to look like a Pikachu I guess. " Scratching the back of his head, a blonde male resided within the Ilex Forest. Beside his Skitty, it wasn't until they heard something footsteps behind them.
"AH, Damia--, ah?" A hesitated, stiff smile fixed upon the male's face. Emerald gems stared at the soul of the individual he had no familiarity toward. He wondered, just who the hell was this guy and why was he here? "You're not my brother," the blonde stated. He and Skitty were both surprised by the male's sudden appearance, along with his Charmander, and wondered just where his brother could have gone. Though there was a high chance this was Alec's fault for there have been a number of instances he lost track of older sibling, he wasn't great with direction.
"Either way," he'd grab the male's hand, "I'm Alec! And with your Charander here you both can the light way out. I think my brother got out of this barely lit forest on his own, I lost track of him chasing this odd looking Pikachu." Alec nonchalantly stated. He began tugging the male by his hand and pulling him forward, "Besides, I'm not so good with what my brother calls 'having a sense of direction,' but with you here everything should be fine!" Rosy cheeks beamed with joy as the male showcased a personality of joviality.
Poor stranger had no idea who he just met or what he just got roped into. "Anyway, that Charmander of yours looks cool and healthy! I'm so jealous, I'd love to have a Charmander one of these days," he'd look back toward the stranger, "how about we gamble for it, huh-huh?!" Alec asked the male with gleaming eyes.

The individual he meant was quite friendly. The blonde immediately reached for Spade's hand, and introduced himself. "Ah, my name's Spade nice to meet you. Cute Pokemon you have there." He said, pulling his hand away after the introductions were over. Spade watched as Sköll waddled over towards the Skitty to introduce himself. The Charmander wasn't a mean boy, he enjoyed friendly interactions, especially with new Pokemon he had yet to meet.

"I'm sure your brother is fine, regardless I'm here to find some Pokemon and until then you'll have to wait. I'll help you out of the forest after some more adventuring." He told him. The blonde didn't seem to be in a panic, so it was obvious that his brother would be just fine. Regardless, Ilex Forest wasn't dark as the void, it was simply a place that was in enternal night. One could see quite easily during the night, especially once their eyes got used to the darkness. If it did prove to be more serious, Spade would think about leaving a bit earlier. But it would be a waste of his time if he didn't leave the forest with a new Pokemon or at least some experience. Being a new trainer, Spade was still struggling with giving both of his Pokemon chances to grow. For now he favored Sköll heavily, but he knew that sooner or later his Swinub would need to participate in some battles. It was probably better to have him battle as soon as possible, but time would tell what Spade would actually do.

"You keep your hands off my Charmander, or we'll leave you here with your sense of direction." He scoffed, not so seriously, but his tone conveyed a tone that hopefully put the gambling thoughts to rest. "Alec, let's see if we can get us some new Pokemon instead. I do wonder what lurks in this forest. It would seem like some unique Pokemon hide behind the trees, I just hope we get lucky enough to have them come and greet us. Let's keep moving a bit deeper into the forest, shall we?" He said before beginning to move forward. His Charmander following quickly behind. Alec would surely follow as well. Though he didn't get far before two Pokemon stood in their path. He withdrew his PokeDex which pointed out that the two 'Mons standing before them were known as 'Combee' and 'Cherubi'. Both were weak to his Charmander. "Well Alec, I'll take the one on the left. Your skitty looks like it can hold it's own." The Combee was Charmander's opponent, one that wouldn't prove too much of a challenge. But, underestimating a Pokemon, despite the typing, was never the smart thing to do.

The Combee started instantly, using Sweet Scent to cloud the field with it's pollen. Interesting, it was planning on lowering Charmander's evasiveness. It did work though, but Charmander wasn't looking to avoid any of the blows that Combee would throw at it. Instead, he would run right through the Pokemon. It was better to take it out as quickly as possible anyway, seeing how Sweet Scent attracted more Pokemon to the scene and it would not be good for Charmander to be surrounded. "Sköll, close the distance and use Flame Thrower when you're close enough." He told his Pokemon. It began it's rush towards the Combee, but was met with a Gust of wind from the Bug/Flying type. It managed to catch Charmander off guard, but he shook off the minor damage and kept on going. As Charmander got close enough, Combee reacted with Bug Bite. Unfortunately for the bug type, Sköll's maw was filled with fire as it released a point blank Flame Thrower that would leave the Combee unconscious and Sköll as the victor. "Good job buddy, now get back here before something else appears."

tldr; Spade introduced himself. Told Alec to watch his hands, no gambling over here. Kept it pushing, no brother searching till after the journey in Forest was over. Met Combee and Cherubi. Sköll made quick work of Combee despite it's best efforts. Flame Thrower for the win. On to the next.

Alec whined, cheeks puffed annoyed by the man turning his gambling challenge. He was here to find Pokemon though and as that topic caught Alec's attention. He couldn't help but realize that the male's name was Spade. Of all names, that wasn't a name for anyone normal that's for sure. It was pretty funny, but he'd contain his laughter until their adventure was over. Wait until Damien hears about this.
As they continued their walk into Ilex Forest Their movement became stale when two Pokemon made their presence known. The duo were not planning on allowing them to venture any deeper then they could, and that wasn't fun at all. Those who tried to halt Alec's path toward seeing his big brother were considered nothing but enemies amongst him. This was the perfect opportunity to gain Starly some form of recognition. "Alright then, I suppose you could use the practice. Father did give you to me as a gift, let's not waste it." Releasing the entrapment of his Pokemon, manifesting onto the field was Starly.
Starly was only able to utilize two moves at this time; neither showed much effectiveness, but for these Pokemon they would prove to be nothing but a simple challenge. "Alright Starly, utilize the sky to divert the Cherubi's attention!" Flying at a soaring speed over the Cherubi's head, it wasn't sure where the Starly would land first. "Dive from above"! And Starly would utilize tackle, slamming beak first into the Cherubi. "Perfection!" but the Cherubi, among a light dust cloud, retaliated with Magical Leaf. As Starly was assaulted by the onslaught of chromatic leaves, it would only produce minor injury here and there. "Time to retaliate once more." The Starly would Growl with annoyance and anger due to its beautiful wing suffering some injury. Rising into the sky once more, it would maneuver about the battlefield within a swift manner. "This time attack from the side!"
The Starly would utilize the trees for coverage. Soaring past, over, around, and under some barks, branches and trees here and there. The Cherubi, unable to keep track, would come to be rushed back and forth with one Tackle the next. The Cherubi would attempt to utilize Morning Sun, but before it could do so Starly would knock it out of concentration. "Keep it up, let's finish this with the next! Dive from above!" And with one last assault from a tackle, the Starly would slam down, once more, from above on top of the Cherubi; K.O'ing the Pokemon. "Nice job, you may not be able to produce much at this time! But you'll be a strong, elegant bird before you know it. Right, Skitty?" Alec stated, praising his Starly's work.

As his tagalong showed his prowess with his Starly, Spade couldn't help but be sorta impressed. Though, he wanted to watch the Skitty battle more than anything; not that he could complain really, given that he had yet to see a Starly in person. The path to the top will only continue to reveal all these different Pokemon to me... I wonder what my final team will look like. It was a hard thought to ponder on, given the fact that he wasn't aware of most of the Pokemon that lived within the Region. Not to mention those that were home to regions beyond Johto. His story was only beginning, but it felt like he had a solid start, especially with the three Pokemon he lucked himself into. "Well, Alec. Let's move a bit deeper in no? Hopefully the further we go, the better Pokemon we encounter." He began walking past the defeated 'Mons, and into the depths of the forest where the light was much thinner than before. Fortunately, Sköll's tail kept the vicinity around them well lit, despite it's small size.

It wasn't a long walk before they encountered another duo of Pokemon. One looked like a flower that had yet to bloom, and the other looked like a ninja made out of vegetables. Some of the Pokemon he met thus far had quite the unique appearance, and have also given him quite the laugh when coupled with the thoughts he had upon first sight. "I'll take this one, he looks strong. I'm not sure you'd be able to handle him." He teased, only half meaning what he said. The PokeDex he used revealed the both of them to be of a double typing, despite both being grass; one had poison, and the one that Sköll was going to battle was type Dark. Interesting.. He mused to himself. "Well Sköll, you know the drill by now. We're not here to capture this one. Make sure you go all out alright? We don't know what it could be hiding." He responded in kind, awaiting his owner's instructions.

The nuzleaf started the battle immediately. Releasing leaves that cut through the air at a fair speed, looking to do the same to Sköll's skin. Unfortunately, grass did not hold up against fire. "Use Flame Thrower to burn those leaves to a crisp!" Sköll released a stream of fire that covered the area in front of him and made light work of the Razor Leaf that the Nuzleaf used previously. The collision resulted in a veil of smoke that covered the area in front of them. "Charge in, and use Slash once he comes in your line of view." He told the Charmander. Sköll dashed into the smoke, however unbeknownst to him, the Nuzleaf had utilized Harden to strengthen his defenses. Once Sköll actually made it to the Nuzleaf, and let off a Slash to its body, the attack did little to nothing. The Nuzleaf took the opportunity to let off a Pound to the Charmander's head. It got cocky, and thought that this would lead to a bigger opening. However, because of the closeness of the two, it led to the perfect opportunity for Sköll.

"Now! Flame Thrower! Before it manages to get away, hurry Sköll!" He shouted across to his partner. The Charmander's maw lit up with fire while the Nuzleaf was attempting another pound. The look on it's face when it noticed it's mistake was something to poke fun at, as it realized there was nothing it could do but take on the attack. Unfortunately for the Nuzleaf, it was engulfed in the flame and defeated. The Nuzleaf fell over, landing in a heap of leaves. "Buddy, that Flame Thrower of yours is getting much better. I like the control you're showing with it. Now come back here, in case something grabs you over there." As his Charmander returned to him, he watched over to see how Alec was fairing.

We should battle sometime, I could use the practice y'know!" Alec complimented. It'd been sometime since he actually took part in a real battle. Mostly watching his elder brother fight, the only time he ever battled was when an opponent caught his attention. Though Alec is in no way weak. The man he'd been traveling, unbeknownst to him, was actually someone who, too, came from an intriguing background. Though it was up to the male to tell him of his identity. For now, they continued to walk. As Alec trudged behind the individual they would come to run into two new Pokemon: Budew and a Nuzleaf. The Budew caught Alec's attention, it's glistening greenery gleaming underneath a patch of light that shone through the trees above.
As Spade took to battle, so did he. "Starly return, Skitty go!" Returning the Starly to its respective ball. Skitty would be sent to the battlefield. Landing unto the stage, the Budew took notice of the threat before her. Conducting the move Growth, she'd enlarge her body to become a giant; she was at least the size of a human child. As Skitty watched the Budew tower over here, the Budew would then use Absorb as though to steal the energy in which Skitty possessed. "We can't allow this, Skitty. Retaliate with Double-Edge!" The bigger they are, the harder they fall. And as Skitty rushed forward, body enveloped within a golden light, she'd crash into her enemy as a powerful assault led to the Budew's body taking heavy damage. As the Budew fell over and encompassed even more great damage. Skitty would land atop of the Budew's body as it began to shrink back to its original size.
Skitty, now circling the beaten Budew, wasn't done just yet. The Budew stood its ground and once more tried to utilize the move Absorb. Stealing some of Skitty's life force little by little, the Budew wasn't going down so easily. And thus she'd slither a vine around Skitty's leg, enticing the pink Pokemon within her grasp as she began to drain even more energy. "Skitty, get out of there! Retaliate with Disarming Voice, finish it!" And thus, in order to get out of its grasp, Skitty would release a wailing cry as purple hearts fluttered directly out of Skitty's maw. "Nice, job!" The Budew, in distraught, was badly beaten.
"Let's do it one more time, Disarming Voice!" With one more cry escaping the Skitty's maw, she'd release a sound wave that'd cause the Budew's defeat. The shrieking leaving it in a state of disarray. And with the enlargement of a ball capsule, Alec would toss it in an attempt to catch the Budew. "You're coming with me!" He exclaimed, the ball capsule would then slam into the Pokemon's head. Absorbing the green creature into the ball, he'd await to see if his capture was successful.
"Woo, let's see if we successfully caught the little pea." Alec spoke with an added titter. "Say, Spade, did you really come into this forest to catch Pokemon? You could've did that anywhere, why Ilex Forest?" Alec inquired.

The Skitty performed quite well. Spade was glad he ended his fight quick and got to see the cat like Pokemon in battle. Though he wondered if it was a good choice to capture the Budew, it wasn't of much concern to him regardless. [break][break]
"Why I chose Ilex Forest?..." Interesting question. Pondering on the question for a few seconds, a response popped up in his mind. "Well, I do like the dark for one. So this area was pretty cool, but I also expected to find a suitable grass type to put onto my team. Unfortunately, so far, that isn't the case. But it is hell of some good training for my Charmander here. Right Sköll?" Char... CHAR He replied, looking quite happy and proud of himself for taking out two Pokemon back to back. Though he was getting tired, he still had it in him to battle one more Pokemon before they called it a day.
"What about you? You said you had a brother? Are you both trainers? Were you looking for something in here other than Pokemon?" He inquired. Though, soon after, another Pokemon showed itself. It was a Burley. Spade was very uninterested. "Well, it would seem our luck had died down. Give me a moment Alec. I'll get back to you after this battle." He turned his attention to the bug type Pokemon that stood in their way. [break][break]
"Sköll! Use Fire Spin!" He ordered. A whirlwind of fire immediately shot forward towards the Bug type. "Now, time for our combo! Use FLAME THROWER!"[break][break]
The attack connected with the previous whirlwind of fire, causing an explosion that should have knocked the Pokemon out. As the smoke cleared, Spade looked on with his Charmander to see the result. To their shock, the Burley was completely fine. Remnants of protect showed itself, which informed Spade of what had just happened. Well, it wasn't going to happen again. From what he learned, Protect hardly worked if used twice in a row. [break][break]
"Sköll, once more! Flame Thrower!" He shouted, pointing at the bug type as if it would make the attack much stronger. [break][break]
The Charmander released a large stream of flames from its maw, engulfing the bug type in a cocoon of fire. This time, it was over. The Burley could not withstand the scolding hot flames against its leafy, bug like body. The Pokemon dropped to the floor as Spade and Charmander captured another victory. "Well buddy, you did great today. You can get some rest now." He said, drawing the PokeBall that held his Charmander. A red light enveloped the beautiful Pokemon, and brought it inside it's structure. "So Alec, where were we?"
