Aria held her arms up on either side to help keep her balance as she tip-toed across some of the larger rocks aside the stream. Her gaze was mainly focused on where she placed her steps, but every now and again she would look up to make sure that she was not taken by surprise by the environment or the wild Pokemon that she was sure were nearby. She looked to her left and across the stream to see a girl around her age on the other side. What was she doing there?

Aria found solid ground before looking back over to see her waving and saying... something, but she couldn't quite make it out over the sound of something moving in the water. Aria's eyes scanned the water's surface for what it could be. It seemed to be creeping towards her.

"Oh, um-" the words escaped her mouth before she reached to her belt for Mareep's pokeball. The wool pokemon let out a cry from behind Aria and she looked back, having forgotten she already let him out.

"Mareep!" she called, before turning back to the motion that was at her front. She could see it more clearly now, a fish pokemon racing toward her. The pokemon splashed near the shore and launched some mud into the air and near Mareep as he approached. Mareep turned to Aria, waiting for instructions.

"Use Thunder Shock!" she called, watching as Mareep focused the charged energy in his wool and then launched it into the air. The yellow energy raced upwards and then back down on the pokemon and Aria gasped when the attack didn't seem to have any damage at all. The water pokemon used its body to hurl more mud at Mareep, some of it landing in Mareep's face. Oh no!

"Shake it off, Mareep! Use tackle!" Mareep charged in the direction of the water and when the water pokemon came up to attack again, Mareep was there. He charged his body into the water pokemon and hit him full force. "And Tackle again!" she called. Mareep followed suit, launching itself down on the water pokemon, dealing a finishing blow. The two attacks seemed enough to get get the job done, Aria noted. Must not have been a very strong Pokemon, then.

The battle over, Aria turned her attention back to the girl across the water. She was trying to tell her something, maybe? "Hello?!" she called back, now that her attention wasn't being stolen by a wild Pokemon. She leaned down to make sure Mareep's face and coat were clean, but kept her eyes locked on the trainer across the stream.

Aria took note from the other girl to look at the stream, towards the falls from which she came. They were definitely something else. There wasn't much like this over in Kanto. Aria's gaze fell to her new friend's partner, a Pokemon she didn't recognize. It was tall and orange. Mareep seemed to have taken a likeness towards her. Mareep gave her a polite sniff. Aria nudged Mareep with her foot, as if to say 'Not the time, Mareep!' He looked up sheepishly (haha get it?) and Aria returned a smile. "I'm Aria," she introduced herself. Mareep's attention was stolen all of a sudden. Aria tried to follow his gaze.

A bit further down the stream, an orange pokemon seemed to have gotten stuck on land. She didn't have a water pokemon yet, this was her chance! "Mareep!" she called, and he stood to attention. His eyes locked on the orange pokemon, the shade similar to the Buizel now beside him. "Thunder Shock!" she called, and Mareep yet again released the charge from his wool coat. Electric energy shot from his coat into the sky and back down again into the Magikarp, which shuddered from the blow. It flapped, trying to make it back to the water. Or maybe it was trying to attack? Aria couldn't quite tell.

"Again?" she said, but at that point she felt kinda bad. Mareep complied, sending another shock to the fish pokemon. He retaliated with another sort of jump. She reached for one of the small balls on her belt and gave it a click, then chucked it into the direction of the orange pokemon. Now that she was closer, she recognized it. Weak now, but with her help, it could become a strong Gyarados. Though it wouldn't quite be a dragon type like Swablu would become, it would still make a valuable ally.
