I WALK TO THE TUNE OF MY OWN DRUMS
Hailing from Sootopolis in Hoenn, Lars here hasn’t had much luck with his own personal journey when he was much younger due to unlucky shenanigans happening. Eventually, he learns about the history on his mother’s side of the family, and has decided to go to the region of her birth in order to settle things.
The advantage he has is that practically nobody in the extended family knows that he exists (at least that’s what he’s currently aware of) so he can slip into the region and explore around under cover of anonymity. At least, until he discovers that there’re other members of the extended family he’s a part of and chaos begins.

FRIENDSHIPS
His trust and friendship is hard-won.
Call it paranoia, or just a really uncanny sense of intuition; but due to what had happened to him when he was still growing up he’s developed a distaste for people who are being idiotic on purpose, especially when they do it just to seek attention. Preferring to stay out of the limelight himself, he’s content with operating in the background—it comes with the climate that he’s been exposed to back home.
It’d take a good long while for him to legitimately open up to other people, as he has a very uptight way of handling things, but make no mistake: when one does succeed in getting past the many layers he’s thrown up around himself, he’ll definitely have your back—and will cover you, even if you have to go to the gates of Hell and back.

HATESHIPS
If there’s one thing that really gets on his nerves, it’s idiots. While he’s also an idiot himself, at least his idiocy isn’t the kind that can literally drive anyone else he interacts with up the wall—he prefers to go directly to the point no matter what happens.
Another easier way to set him off is to cause anarchy in his organized little bubble—he’s aware that he has OCD, and while it does drive him batty, he believes in a system of doing things.

LOVESHIPS
He knows he’s definitely on the bi side of things, having several fleeting romances with fellow travelers he’s met while on the way to Johto. While these never lasted long, he’s still trying to adjust to the fact that he finds guys just as appealing as the ladies are. He wouldn’t mind hanging out with another guy or two, or a girl for that matter.
Being a feisty individual himself, he seeks out someone who can bring balance to his unstable life—he doesn’t care if the other person has a sordid or unsavory past; as long as they understand him for who he is, he’s fine with that. Just don’t go around and breaking his trust and loyalty, because once that’s gone, it’ll be a literal hell in a handbasket to get his affectionate side back out again.

ZU ANDERSON
An underlying reason why he’s in Johto is because of the unfinished business that his mother Catherine had left behind.
After the patriarch and head of the family left them behind due to several business decisions that had folded due to unfortunate circumstances, she had passed a few years afterward. While this effectively made Lars the head of their family (and taking care of his two younger siblings), this also made him the next in line to take care of the von Klaussner business that she was a part of. Being the youngest of the siblings, and actually choosing to not excel in anything specific, Catherine had left the region to follow her heart for love.
He’d stumbled upon secret papers and letters that their mother had left behind while going through her things after her funeral and had found the strange symbol (symbolized as a necklace) that signifies one is part of the extensive family. While he has no idea what the hell it means at first, the little clues he’d found in the letters and diary entries that have been left behind lit the curiosity in figuring out what it all meant.
While his own personal journey back in his home region ended with a disaster he would rather not talk about—and leading him to think that his entire family is cursed—he decides to travel to Johto to check things out, leaving his original team behind in his siblings’ care for their protection, and to figure out what his mother had left behind previously. Whether it’s riches or power he doesn’t know about yet, but he’s looking for answers to this symbol, as he has so many questions about it.
