Her bike easily cruised along the long stretch of paved road, trees flanked to both of her sides. That delivery had been her last job. Her schedule was free. All that was left for her to do was ride along the route, enjoy the nice summer's breeze, and set up camp somewhere for the night.[break][break] Azalea was clutching the edges of the front basket. The small Salandit seemed engrossed in her surroundings. Johto was new to her; the trees, the smells, and even the skies felt foreign to her. “This feels great,” Jenna said down to her poison-type, feeling unusually energetic today.[break][break] The last few days had gone well for the young Courier. She hoped it could stay that way.[break][break] There were pokemon in the distance; a whole group of them that had taken up the road. Gently, Jenna pulled on the brakes and eased to a slow stop, not wanting to bump into any of them. Just from one glance, she could tell they belonged to someone. That was the only explanation. Why would such a diverse arrangement of pokemon gather otherwise?[break][break] A man with blonde hair was walking. They were heading in the same direction. “Afternoon.” She greeted with a small wave, glancing at each of his pokemon before directing her gaze to his face. He seemed nice. Clean-cut. | ”Hmm?” Cid turned, pulling down his glass to get a better look at whoever had spoke to him. He was pleasantly greeted by a rather cute thing riding on a bike with a basket, a passerby making her way through the route no doubt. Now what was even more interesting about this little encounter was the Pokémon residing in the basket of the bike.
Now Cid had not expected to see an Alolan native here in Johto and he definitely didn’t expect to run into one like this. Today had just gotten much better; the professor could barely hide his smile.
”And a beautiful afternoon it is.” He began, his glasses now back to covering his eyes as he made his way over to the girl and her Salandit. ”Cid R. Valentine at your service. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Cid flashed the girl with a bright smile and then looked down to the Salandit, leaning in a bit.
”My! My! I can’t forget about this beauty right here, nice to meet you as well.” He’d offer a hand and if the Salandit would let him he’d give the alolan lizard a little peck on the hand.
Their meeting would be interrupted by a Combee and a Grimer making an appearance. IT was definitely not a welcomed distraction but it was one that would be dealt with. Before Cid could make a decision on who would face which Pokémon, Nova had jumped and attacked the Combee with an Ember attack.
Cid hadn’t gotten too annoyed with the chimp, it was a good attack to use after all so there wasn’t much harm done. ”Excuse me while I handle this but I’m afraid the Grimer might be more interested in you than myself.” He’d turn away from the two and focused on his Chimchar.
The Combee used gust, blowing the Chimchar into the professor who caught the Pokémon. ”Let’s go for another Ember.” Cid said as the Chimchar leaped from his arms and into the air. Another stream of embers flew from his mouth, knocking the Combee out of the air. Nova then followed the attack up with a Scratch, dealing the finishing blow on the bug type.
As Cid went to go congratulate the Pokémon on a job well done the Chimchar surprisingly evolved into a Monferno. When the evolution was completed the newly evolved Monferno lunged onto his trainer.
”Congratulations, looking stylish.” The professor laughed as the Moneferno climbed his body and clung on to his back. Their battle was over and now he’d watch carefully how his new friend would do. He’d have to ask her at some point where she met her Salandit.
There had been many changes to the Pokémon that appeared in Johto but so far there was no record of Alolan Pokémon. His curisosity needed to be satisfied so she’d have to bare with the million questions he was sure to ask her when he got the chance.

Since coming to Johto, she had been bombarded by admirers; people would stop and stare at her, knowing she was exotic. The Salandit was good at dealing with all of the attention. The lizard had been raised to be admired. It was a lesson that had been taught by her own mother. Female Salandits would grow to be revered leaders. Jenna may have intervened by removing her from her siblings, but she couldn't go against nature.[break][break] “Jenna. Nice to meet you.” The Ranger allowed a small smile to grace her features. “The little lady is Azalea.” The poison-type looked up at him with a curious expression fixed upon her features. He had manners. When he extended his hand, the Salandit complied.[break][break] Jenna just hoped her lizard would stay humble. One hand pressed against her cheek, the Ranger still leaned against her handlebars, one foot planted to the ground to keep her bike upright. If the man was fascinated, that would mean questions. Jenna was used to the inquires. Azalea was a stranger in this region. Her kind was rarely seen beyond the small islands they inhabited.[break][break] The Ranger twisted her head, spying something that had caught her attention. She had seen a flash of yellow, followed by a low buzz. A wild pokemon? Jenna supposed they had been standing around long enough to attract attention.[break][break] As Cid dealt with the Grimer, she finally focused her eye on the Grimer that had approached them. “Alright. Let's do this.” Azalea nodded, understanding that this would be her fight. She hopped down from the basket, watching their poison foe. It was dragging itself across the ground, arms flailing. Eventually, it'd be close enough...[break][break] And when it was, Azalea was ready. The poor sludge never stood a chance. One Flame Burst was all it took–one cloud of fire and fury to render their foe unable to continue. The Grimer sunk to the ground, slightly charred but not to a serious extent. The few burns it sustained were nothing serious. A small nap would be more than enough recovery time.[break][break] Jenna, after patting a hand down on her lizard's head, turned to look at Cid right as his pokemon evolved. “Congratulations.” It seemed like every time she met with someone new, their pokemon were evolving. The Chimchar had already been a bit of a handful to deal with and now with this evolution he’d be even more all over the place. Cid didn’t mind, he enjoyed having such a high strung member on his team. The only one that came close to him in terms of energy was Loki.

The two Pokémon often clashed which lead into some hilarity but Cid always reined them in preventing it from getting any more serious than need be. They were a bit even in strength before but now, Nova had a clear advantage over the little fox Pokémon.

”Why thank you.” Cid responded, looking over to the Monferno on his back who let out thanks himself. ”Though don’t be too kind to him, it might go straight to his head.” The man laughed.

The Professor had kept an eye on Jenna and her own battle during theirs, watching as to how she handled the Alolan Pokémon and he wasn’t disappointed with the result of their battling. They wouldn’t be able to talk too much as another pair of Pokémon appeared. It was a rather unusual pair of Pokémon given the current region and how the two Pokémon appeared to be fighting each other.

When the two bug Pokémon noticed the audience they suddenly had their anger turned to them. ”I hope you’re ready for round two.” Cid smiled, pulling out a pokeball. Cid then released the Pokémon that resided in the capsule, his Beldum, Arbiter.

The Beldum was a bit more on the aggressive side and Cid wanted to work on controlling that. Once the steel type found a target it did not relent until that target stopped moving. And even now it made a target out of the Kricketot, taking off like a rocket towards the bug that was not ready for that speed.

Arbiter crashed into the Kricketot, sending the poor Pokémon flying. Cid could only shake his head and let out a sigh. ”What am I going to do with you?” He joked. Nova winced at the sight of the impact, glad that it was the Kricketot and not him.

A lot of Cid’s other Pokémon were a bit wary of the Beldum for obvious reasons. The only one who seemed to not care was Cid’s Wartortle, who respected the Beldum ferocity. The Kricketot got up, its body now beginning to glow a faint red aura around it.

Cid was well aware of the what the Pokémon was trying to do and it was anything but good news for the Beldum. ”Wrap this up with another Take Down.” Cid didn’t need to say anything; the Beldum was going to keep attacking regardless of what he said.

Another Take Down was more than enough to finish the fight, preventing the Kricketot to use Bide. It would have been quite bad if the Pokémon managed to pull of that attack given the kind of damage the Beldum could dish out. Now only if the Beldum was more of a team player then it’d be even more of a danger.
