narcotics operations are always a pain in the ass. it's not enough to just bust a few users or a dealer. no, they always want the whole she-bang. that means months of stalking, scoping out involved parties, and then finally the bust. countless man hours padded with paper work and danger are surmised into a climatic sting. it's just a drop in the bucket, scope wise, but a bust in celadon's casino will pave the perfect pathway for the regional rangers to start cleaning up the discrete underground of kanto's illegal drug trade. and, for that, they bring in the expendables. a convict for life without parole paired with a promising young recruit placed outside of her division. what was supposed to be raising and caring for their enlisted canines became using them for detecting, confirming, and ultimately assaulting suspicious substances. for an operation with such a high risk and low reward, it's only natural to for them to reserve their more experienced agents for more nuanced tasks. that leaves victor and natalia to share their misfortunes with their only remedy - liquor, truly a fitting covenant for soon to be baptism. a trial by fire always starts with a slow gas leak. glamour neon lights bombard all that dare enter celadon's game corner. the putrid smell of second hand smoke seeps into their lungs, clinging to their clothes, here to swallow them whole in gluttonous vice. radio silence pricks at the wire hidden on his ear while victor surveys the scene from the bar. a distinct absence of clocks allows the patrons to get lost in the slots, emptying their wallets in what seems to be a few minutes. in reality, hours pass and neither make their move. they're waiting for when the game corner dies. that's when they make their move, only after confirming a shift change. " fucking shit." a disdainful mumble leaks from victor's throat. he's nothing more than a beat up kid. dark bags weigh on his eyes, matching the bruises and cuts that dress his arms and face. it's almost off putting to see the two of them together, a pretty lady seated by such a dirty tramp. but no one pays them any mind. after all, who's to blame him for trying to be hot shit and shooting his shot.

The curse from her current partner caught Natalia's ears and shook her from her thoughts. They were pointless thoughts she usally pushed aside. Thoughts like where was she going and how was she suppoed to get there. Thoughts like revenge and missing home. The curse, however, was a good reminder that she was here, now, and that's what currently mattered. She could dream and remanice back home. "It's not all that bad." She teased Victor with a blonde brow quirked. "You know, smoke aside."Natalia honestly wasn't a fan of the way things smelled within the Game Corner, she'd never come for her own recreational use. Not to mention when it came to smoking she could only think that whoever was piping in or piping out probably tasted like an ash tray. Speaking of tasting, her eyes drifted back to her partner for the night. While she was in a pretty dress, he wasn't looking to terribly shabby for the evening. Though it was noted how unfair the stereotype was. The stereotype stating that men could dress however they wanted while women were forced to wear a dress for such occasions. Though, she did rock the dress. So. Plus. "I would have thought you were the kind of guy who would thrive in a place like this... or are you more into cock fights?"The question was posed just before Natalia took a drink of her iced water and batted her mascara covered lashes at her partner. Always a tease.

" says you." he makes a motion for another drink. they can add it to his tab. not that he'll ever pay it. after all, he's on the side of justice. what'll they do? arrest him? ha. the same cannot be said for his partner, stuck with just water. it's cheaper, cleaner, and healthy, something she has the privilege of pursing. victor will never deduce her intention but it probably has to do with avoiding intoxication right before they take down the game corner. but he doesn't care. he doesn't need to. " why's that?" a simple enough question with a loaded back end. he has a guess and tries to prod her along that path. there's a snappy retort ready, he just needs to wait for the right word. it's his petty way of getting her back. she can tease but victor bites.

There were a few options she could take here. She could quickly tell him that it was because of how he presents himself but wasn't that the obvious answer? Instead, she thought perhaps she could try to be clever... or, perhaps, she could be honest. "Because you seem the rough type, Vicki."Alright so maybe she shouldn't have gone the even more teasing route, but how couldn't she? He was leaving it wide open for her! If there was one thing Natalia couldn't help but enjoy, it was being a great big tease. Mostly because she'd actually deliver in the end. Unlike most of those she teased, though she liked to think she was getting better and not every tease ended in an absolutely failure or disappointment.

" oh." that's it. just a plain, apathetic answer which played to no emotion. but on the inside, there's something more. something victor would never display. fuck!somehow she avoided it entirely. his retort, his wittiness, it all hinged on her answer revolving around his status as a criminal. but no, she had to give a vague, general response. he can only grunt in response. swirling the new drink the bartender pushed toward him. a refracted reflection of his distorted face glares back at him. " tch. then you stick out too much." her pet name goes unanswered. it's on the tamer side of what gets tossed around in the penitentiary. another gulp and a bitter scorch empties past his throat. it hits the spot. just enough of a pre-game for the festivities that are bound to come.

"You mean, I'm pretty?"Her reply was almost immediate and she couldn't help but let out a warm laugh. She was pretty sure she'd just gotten a compliment from a criminal. Which, honestly, wasn't that hard to do with most softer criminals. But Victor wasn't soft, and it was a feat to get such a compliment from him. "Thank you. I think that's the nicest thing you've ever said. Should we put it on record? I can put it in my notes."Without a moment of hesitation, she sat up, making a small spectacle of herself just because, well, waiting was boring so why not have a bit of fun with the partner? "Victor Lee compliments me by saying I stick out too much."Her tone held the mockery one would take when 'acting out' a small scenario. Yes, that would fit just beautifully.

" tch." the immediate dismissal of his reply implies he disagrees with her assessment. leaves a more bitter taste than the liquor. his nose wrinkles in disgust, not unlike those dogs she trains. " you're too clean. dressed up girls don't go to casinos by themselves, much less to not gamble." logic carries a clean explanation, one that went unaccounted for on their side. yet, it doesn't seem to arouse any suspicion. but he's too late. she has to go and carry it along, getting carried away. victor doesn't pay her any attention, and never takes his eyes away from the bar counter. instead, he pays attention to the change of tone buzzing in his ear. white noise is broken by a deep voice. " all units are in position. when you have the clear, find a way into their backroom."

His dismissal only fueled her. On top of that, he wrinkled his nose like he'd smelled something terrible and Natalia found herself grinning because of it. What a face he'd made and she wasn't even properly putting the moves on him! Alas, all good things come to an end and Natalia found herself listening to orders over the radio tucked into their ears. "I know how to make a distraction worthy of being put in the back."She suggested quickly, looking at Victor with a smirk of sorts. Moving off of her chair, she brushed her hair over her shoulder to expose it and leaned on the counter. Her suggestion was hopefully clear in her movements. If they were 'rough' enough, they'd be escorted toward the rooms in the back, and then they could get a move on, now, couldn't they? Hopefully Victor could take a hint...

oh do you now? let's see it. victor awaits her grand scheme, none the wiser. all he does is watch her, his expression making a slow, daunting transition from his previous scowl to a confused frown. he can only stare at her dumbly. it's clear as day he doesn't get it. however, the way he handles it, expectant, waiting, paints her as the idiot. what is tact to a simpleton?

Feeling like an idiot wasn't a first for a female Ranger. Namely, one that trains K-9s, simply because they typically did whatever they wanted as pups and so presentations became a quick 'steel nerves' training session. This, however, was a totally different kind of embarrassed. It wasn't as if Natalia wondered if she was defective, just if Victor was. Or maybe, gay? To make herself more clear, Natalia reached her hand up to the back of his neck and slowly shifted her body toward him. "Ram me against the counter leading to the back."Whether she was instructing him or suggesting it as an idea was up for debate, but the way she bit her lip and moved toward his lap should have made her point more clear to him... hopefully.

on the counter is one thing, in his lap is another. it's a first but he remains steady. there's no flush or fluster. not even the alcohol paint him a different shade of red. steel nerves keep him collected. but the body is another thing. instinct, reaction, some can be controlled, others cannot. natalia will know soon enough what victor really thinks, even if its subconscious. " you want me to drag us all the way back there?" now his tone starts to convey his confusion. it's a bold plan but too audacious for victor to believe in. for a short distance, it may make sense, but the emphasis on the word all shows his concern on the plan. his hands steady themselves onto her hips. whether to lift her or toss her off is still up to debate.

It was as if Victor had never done this before. Which gave Natalia a moment to consider, had he? Slowly she lifted her eyebrow at him as she leaned back enough to see his face. Though only her face was leaned back, while her waist and hips were leaned against him. "Please tell me you've had a make-out session before." Partly rhetorical. "We start here, you get carried away, we bounce from table to table... or, I suppose I could leave you here, properly teased, and make my way toward the back and you could start the ram closer."As she spoke, her fingers played with parts of his hair around his hairline on his neck and his ears. Then there was how she moved her other hand down his chest. She needed to look into him and by the motions of her lap shifting on his, it was clear to anybody watching that she very much was. Though Natalia was starting to wonder if perhaps the criminal wasn't very good at winging things... or maybe he wasn't good at romantic things? Who even knew.

his eyes narrow at her question. behind the veil of annoyance lays a well layered glare. " are you retarded?" a genuine question to pair with her rhetorical. his tone delivers it as an answer but it also feeds into his next statement. " this'll never work." and that's something he's sure of. even if he knew the intricacies of such an act, such a grandeur would be too obvious. even he knew that. their cover is the only thing that protects her action. victor's no toy. but, from a spectator's point of view, natalia's actions fit perfectly with her absurd narrative. it becomes painstakingly more uncomfortable the longer it goes on. his grip reflects it, tightening, digging into both dress and flesh. another annoyance threatens victor's pride, one kept neatly tucked under the hem of her dress. " we might as well just fucking barge in," he curses silently.

A grunt had her stopping her movements. A pout was given in reply to him. Apparently she’d made him angry. Granted, she had just basically mounted him... “Well alright then, fine.” The smile that crossed her lips might have looked to spectators like something a girlfriend would give her boy toy but in reality she was trying not to jab out Victor’s eyes. “Is that what you’d rather? Barging in?” Judging by her tone, Natalia strongly disagreed with the option. “Because if we just go barging in, don’t you think it’ll lead to a much messier job? Or, is that the point?”

" if you're going to be obvious about it, then we might as well be obvious." she's still straddled onto him. the bartender's long gone, having granted them the courtesy of some alone time. while not unheard of, debaucherous scenes like these weren't uncommon. had this not been hours past prime time, it might've caused a scene. but not now, not when they had calculated when to attempt their infiltration. " might as well," victor concludes, " unless you have an actual idea."
