| DO YOU REMEMBER? LOOK AT ME AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID WE'D BE. WE BEAT THE HOUNDS, WE PUSHED THE ODDS. WE'D TAKE IT ALL - WE HAD THE CAUSE. WITH YEARS TO BURN AND YEARS TO TRASH, LIVIN' LIFE BASED ON FLASH. BUT SOMEHOW REACHING FOR THE STARS, I THINK WE WENT A BIT TOO FAR.
Azad Slade had never once been on a date in any capacity.
A fact that he'd become increasingly aware of as his nineteenth birthday was barely a week away. With the sun out and spring in full bloom relationships all over the region had blossomed and it felt like he was the only one who hadn't moved forward in that aspect of his life. When he grudgingly asked his dear elder brother about such a sensitive situation he could hear the foreign gym leader fall to the floor laughing.
"Little Azad, is growing up, what? You ready to get your head out of those books and into some gir-" The white-haired researcher cut the call immediately knowing he'd given his elder and eventually his younger brother another topic to hold over him as if they hadn't enough dirt already. The days following the short conversation the middle child would pursue his relationships with a new found fervor absolutely refusing to let his family win, not again, not when he felt like he was finally succeeding.
The first day of his newfound resolve the trainer would scroll through the contacts on his phone. The list of contacts consisted primarily of trainers and travelers he met that he'd either traded with or somehow managed to gain the researcher's approval quickly noticing he had a surprisingly low number of people he could call friends, and even fewer that he was interested in or comfortable enough to ask out on a date.
The second day he resolved himself to try online dating downloading one of those fancy apps that people were using to 'hook up' or so he'd learned by a few searches on the internet. The dark skinned man couldn't make it through the 'about me' before deleting the app pride and embarrassment ending that short saga.
Frustrated and with so few options the scientist found himself looking at the mission board hoping to find a job to take his mind off these new found struggles, only to find the answer he was desperately looking for.
Some sad nerd was looking to observe a date between trainers claiming that he himself had been out of the game too long and needed to find two individuals who knew their way around the dating scene. While Azad knew jack shit about the dating scene there was a very real realization that in a year of his research and training he could be the sad nerd writing this ad, and that was completely and entirely unacceptable.
Within a day the man found himself in Tanba City easily managing to convince the client that he was a natural with all things love. After all, if nothing else Azad Slade was decent looking enough to play the part (Something the Slade took pride in even if he'd never admit it aloud). Following his brief meeting with the client the man was given a more than fair amount of money for this date and a location to meet the other client that'd agreed to the odd mission.
After a long stop at the pokemon center to change into an appropriate outfit for the occasion going through at least three different sets of clothes before deciding on a classic black button up, a pair of white pants, and a cooler pair of sneakers that'd he'd worn only twice prior all topped with and a pair of aviators purchased at the start of his journey. The youth felt at least somewhat prepared despite the sinking feeling in his stomach that this might not have been his brightest idea.
On the way to the venue (I.E the Tanba City boardwalk overlooking the beach) the man would shoot quite the conceited text to his brother. If only to get back at him for the night two evenings prior. The conversation went something like this:
Going on a date tonight, thanks for such great advice and support brother. - Azad.[break] Little Azzy's going on his first date, wait till I tell mom! Love you little brother. - Saveed
Even now hundreds of miles away the man's text were still able to aggravate the younger Slade child. He wouldn't let it end like this.
Not my first date. Going out with my Girlfriend. Since you can't seem to hold down a relationship I suppose it's my job. - Azad
It took a little longer for the man to respond this time, leaving a smug grin on Azad's face, but as he arrived at the venue more than a few minutes early his PokeNav would vibrate.
"Cool, Can't wait to see a pic. ;)" - Saveed
Azad didn't respond.
The man was sure to have a picture or two by the end of the date and so he'd slide his phone back into his pocket prepping himself for the encounter. Getting a picture wouldn't be hard right? He'd call out his latest and easily his cutest companion (Something Dragonair would argue) to begin the operation "Alright Fai, be cute remember the plan." All Azad knew was that his date was a cute girl with 'multi-colored' hair. And while that wasn't exactly much to go off of the client insisted he'd know her when he saw her. He'd kneel down giving the eevee a rose he'd picked up earlier. "When you see a girl with Multicolored hair run it to her. Understood?"
The pokemon was a smart one and so it'd take the rose between it's teeth giving his trainer a solid nod before waiting. Azad feeling slightly more confident now that he had a plan in motion would slide his phone while Fai scoured for the date, the trainer hadn't even noticed when the pokemon scurried off the girl in sight.
"Of course. What do you take me for."- Azad

This...was stupid.Vivian honestly wasn't sure what had possessed her to take on a mission such as this. Maybe it was the money reward? No, it was definitely the money reward. But still. The actual hell did she know about 'love' and dates? Aka, the stuff that made her sick to her stomach? Honestly, the only way she'd managed to convince the client that she was a 'love doctor' of some sort was through good ol' intimidation....but...
She was a fighter - not a lover. That wasn't to say she'd never been on a date or have something akin to a boyfriend. No, that'd just have been pathetic if she hadn't. It was just...back in the city, whatever form of 'love' she'd found was...violent. And usually didn't last long nor were they good experiences. And, to be frank, it never really bothered her to begin with. Most couples were destined to break up anyway or something, right?Either way, having to actually be cutesy with someone was...really foreign to the girl. Having to not be an ass to someone would be today's main challenge, and honestly, she wasn't entirely sure if she was up for the challenge. What if they looked weird? Oh god, what if they wanted to do something disgusting like...hold hands? The thought was enough to make her sick to her stomach, honestly.
She...didn't exactly have a lot of close female friends to get 'advice' either - and she couldn't read an article about it online without laughing her ass off about how stupid it sounded. Asking her mother was out of the question - the stupid woman was probably passed out drunk somewhere anyway. And she was positive the client didn't want to know the fastest way to get someone into your bed anyway. Really, she couldn't have chosen a worse mission for herself, now could she? After complaining to herself for a good hour or two, Vivian finally got herself ready to meet her 'date' for the day. Even thinking of such a thing left a bitter taste in her mouth, as though she were ready to throw up. This was almost demeaning...But, she had to go through with it, didn't she? After struggling to make herself presentable and then practicing how to smile 'nicely', the young woman finally left the confines of the pokemon center to start her search for her...'date'. All the client had told her was that he was 'tall, dark, and handsome'. The fuck did that even mean? Resisting the urge to sigh for the tenth time in the past minute, she trudged through the crowds that gathered, struggling not to snap at people to get the hell out of the way. No - she needed to be in a good mood. She had to be positive. Nice. And smile. She didn't practice her manners with Asta for an hour just to throw them down the drain because some passerby pissed her off. 'No cursing. No threatening. No teasing. Smile. Be nice. Do stupid cute shit. Get the money.' She reminded herself as she peered through the crowd. Wearing a simple shirt with some ripped jeans, she honestly wasn't the most 'fancy' dressed but...it was comfortable, at least?Ugh...why was her stomach doing little flips? She...wasn't actually nervous, now, was she? Hell no she wasn't!As she stalked through the crowd, mood worsening by the minute, she was stopped when a brown furry creature came running up towards her. It was...an eevee? Now...as much of a bitch as she could be, Vivian wasn't heartless. And so...yes. The eevee was pretty damned cute...Huh? Peering closer, she noticed it holding something in its mouth...a rose? Wait a minute, was this...?Yeah, from the way the cute creature held it towards her, there was no mistaking it. This rose was from her 'date'. While most would've found the gesture adorable, if not romantic, it took everything in Vivian not to sneer.
Holy shit this was corny! Did people actually fall for each other over stuff like this? Ugh, it'd take everything in her not to harass her date about such a dumb approach. "Alright little guy, lead the way." 'So I can get my personal hell over with,' With that, she followed on after the eevee, rose still clutched in one hand, an obvious tense, if not displeased look on her face, even if she attempted to try and smile. Head bowed as she followed the eevee, when it paused, she found herself staring at the feet of some stranger, she could only assume that this was her 'date'. For once in her life, she felt a bit...intimidated? Was that even the right word? All she had to do was look up, smile, greet them, and get this annoying mission done and over with...Right, that was all she had to do.Slowly, the brunette lifted her head to 'face' her date. Instead of her usually cruel smirk or irritated frown, an actual, warm smile found its way to her lips. It looked...incredibly odd on her. Not bad but odd. "Uhm...Hi-" Before she could even choke out the words, she found them caught in her throat, as though a meowth had her tongue as she finally realized who she was face to face with.Holy shit."Why the fuck are you here?!" | NOTES i am ready for this yess ---

When his eyes drift from his phone to the stranger speaking to him his heart flutters for a moment.
"Uh.. Hi, It's nic-" Fuck.
This was the worst possible scenario. There were literally 500 hundred ways this date could have gone awry 500 possibilities in which this evening could turn out terrible, but Arceus had chosen what Azad could only imagine was the absolute worst scenario. What was she even doing in Tanba city? The beaches and couples definitely weren't her thing, yet her she was rose in her hand. Looking just as surprised and stupid as he was.
Fai confused and happy to be a part of the drama would simply scurry up the side of the boardwalk railing watching the two trainers tilting his head more than slightly confused at the turn of events. These weren't the reactions the pokemon was expecting, but it'd be interesting for the furry playmaker to watch nonetheless it's brown eyes constantly flickering back and forth between the two individuals whose expressions were quickly moving from confused to hostile.
"Why are you here? He'd ignore her question entirely in favor of his own.
Azad's plan had crumbled before it even began, not only would this date be terrible he'd look like the biggest half-wit in front of his beloved siblings giving him another loss to carry in front of the two other Slade children. The researcher pinched the bridge of his nose attempting to figure out some means of salvaging the situation. Only now deciding to answer her question figuring it was best to at least try to be cordial, not for his brothers but for his reputation concerning missions. It'd be a stain on his record if he failed a mission so simple. It was only when the man removed his hand that he'd answer the woman's question.
"I needed.... funds." smooth. "Funds for my... research, This was an easy job. Or at least it was until y- never mind." He forced the lie. There was no way he'd let the woman know any portion of his actual reason for taking the mission. Figuring it best not to linger on his lie the man would change the topic.
"Let's just walk the boardwalk, get some food and call it a night. We have to at least make this look real so try to smile."He'd give his best attempt at smiling despite the circumstances quickly looking stupid all the while offering his hand to the girl. "Are you ready to go...D-dear." He manages to force the word through clenched teeth looking away from the woman as he says it.
At the very least the client was wrong, his date was definitely cute despite literally everything else.

This had to be a joke, right?
Out of all the people who could've been on this mission...Out of every single person in this damned region...Why the hell was he here?! Really, she would've been okay with Frederick - hell, maybe even that one wimp whose 'girlfriend' she punched oh so long ago...But Azad? Just remembering her time with him in that damn cave to his annoying-as-hell cocky ass smirk...Very, very quickly, the girl's attempt at a smile became an irritated frown, her arms crossing across her chest, her internal struggle not to snap painted clearly over her face. Even as he directed the question back to her, her lips were drawn into a tight, flat line. She wasn't saying shit until he spoke first - nope, nada.
Now, despite her obvious frustration that he had singlehandly managed to make this mission far worse than it had to be, Vivian was...curious. Azad...he didn't seem like the kind of guy who'd be interested in stuff like this. Maybe because he was a nerd or something, but, honestly, she never took him as the type to go on dates. Kinda sorta like her - but in a less cool and more 'no one finds me worthwhile,' sort of way.
At his excuse, she stared at him with a rather deadpanned look. So, he was in it for the money too? His excuse didn't sound all too convincing but...who cared? At least they were both in it for a similar reason and not looking to make this...'serious' or anything like that. Ugh, just imaging this date being anything remotely serious with him of all people was enough to make the young woman nearly gag.
"...A good reason." She soon grumbled out, deciding to ignore his obvious little slip up with a scathing glare - the feeling was definitely mutual. Ugh, this couldn't have gotten any worse, could it? Despite her desire for the money that was being offered, it wasn't worth the mental strain that being around this guy caused.
About to suggest that he 'fuck off' and the mission be cancelled, she paused when the man began to speak, her eyes slowly widening as she realized just what he were saying. Did he...did he still want to continue this obvious shit show? Why? He didn't like her - she didn't like him. And she sure as hell didn't want to go on a date with him, fake or not. The idea of having to spend a 'lovely afternoon' with him made her feel ill, and she had half the mind to reject him right then and there.
...And yet....
'I need the money. Dammit.' She nearly groaned aloud, settling for just...glowering at him for a moment. "Don't tell me what to do." She opted to stubbornly, and childishly, grumble under her breath, trying to retain some of her dignity - but, the sigh she gave indicated that she'd otherwise follow through with this stupid, stupid mission.
The smile he offered her made her want to roll her eyes, while his words made her sick to her stomach. Right, right, lovey dovey crap. Perfect. Resisting the urge to laugh her ass off at him, she gave a tense, very forced smile. "Of course....honey." The words honestly sounded threatening more than anything - especially because she glowered at him all the while smiling.
"....You're fucking kidding, right?" The whisper was a bit louder than she had planned as she stared down at the hand he offered towards her. After staring for several long moments. an audible groan escaped her lips as she took his hand in her own in some...awkward sort of hold. His hand was pretty big compared to hers - warm too....God dammit, this was awkward. She tightly squeezed his hand - almost painfully so, and likely on purpose. "You look pretty stupid, by the way." She couldn't resist uttering these words in a low, quiet whisper, snickering slightly. "Like, more stupid than usual. I think I want to punch your face even more than I typically do...honey."
Just because they were trying to play the part didn't mean she wasn't going to attempt to make him miserable all the while. No, she was going to get some form of joy out of this.

He's spoken to her for no longer than five minutes max and he'd already rolled his eyes at least six times. The bickering simmered upon mention of the client and when the trainer offered his hand after a more than fair amount of protest the cute girl would take it surprising the man more than a fair amount. He refused to look the woman in the eye as they began to walk becoming hyper sensitive over every twitch below his forearm.
Her hands were warm, and despite the vicegrip they were so small...almost delicate. He'd halfway turn his face glancing at the woman in his peripherals only for the two to make eye contact for what could only have been a third of a second before immediately facing forward, blood rushing to the very tips of his ears. Thankfully her comment overshadowed the event.
"Believe it or not, I think you look beautiful." He'd keep his eyes forward still letting the comment sit for two seconds before finishing. "Most would say the same. Sadly the illusion breaks when you open your mouth." Only now would he turn toward her that trademark smirk plastered across his face.
Fai simply watched from his trainer from the man's shoulder more than entertained with the energy of the conversation now taking time to hop from the man's shoulder crawling across their arms to the woman's now using their temporary link as a bridge. Azad feeling the pokemon leave his side would simply note the traitor's behavior.
"So what do you have a taste for. I heard a couple talking about this new cafe on the beach. Great place for coffee and deserts." He'd pause feeling a need to cover up his knowledge on the trendier spots in the area. In truth the man had spent hours on the internet surveying popular 'date' venues soon after accepting the mission for more hours than he'd ever care to admit, "Or so I heard from some strangers in passing."
It'll be on me as long as you're own your best behavior. Darling." in the distance he swore he could catch the gleam of a familiar pair of glasses watching from afar. Before Azad could mention the watching eyes, however, a woman would approach them in passing the woman no doubt an island native of sorts who just didn't know how to mind her own goddamn business.
"Wow you guys look soo cute together ohmigosh, I write for the island newspaper and we're doing a special spread on couples." Without taking no for an answer the woman would urge the two to answer a couple of questions.
"I'll be fast I promise!" she'd look at the silver-haired man first catching him off guard shoving her pen and pad getting far too close in his space.
"What is it you like most about your cute girlfriend?"
With the focus on him and the stare in the distance the man couldn't back out of the question, and so his eyes would flicker to the girl in question. "...She's honest, tenacious, and free. It doesn't matter if she's wrong or right or how annoying she can be. She'll do what she wants no matter what and she's not afraid to fight for it." Eyes would move to hers quickly before moving back to interviewer his vice grip loosening if only slightly. "I respect that." There was definite truth in that, the man remembering their time in the cave and her sense of pride and accomplishment as they fought together. It was halfway through his response that the man realized he had no idea what the fuck he was doing and so any sense of honesty he had would be crushed with the remainder of his answer."I guess you could say she's like a wild pokemon." he'd finish to the interviewer with a joke adding his own spin on a fake laugh as the woman moved to the girl. He'd make sure his date caught the smirk as she held her notepad almost dangerously close. He'd at least managed to make it seem real, would the girl be able to weave through the interview without openly breaking the cover? The researcher doubted it.
"And what made you fall for this stud?"

Trying to ignore the fact that she and this geek were holding hands, Vivian tried to focus on...other things. Like how nice today was - or that she'd get some good training in tomorrow...given she didn't throw herself over the dock after having to swallow down her pride like this. Any time the man looked over and their eyes met, he'd immediately be met with a hostile glower that lingered, refusing to look away in bashfulness. Although, her smug look of 'victory' at her taunting words towards him quickly faltered as he mentioned she looked...beautiful?
"...What?"
....She wasn't used to this. Someone complimenting her rather than saying how much of an ass she was - this was odd and she didn't like it. What the hell was that supposed to even mean? How was she supposed to respond to that? Was he...serious? Her thoughts began to grow a bit...frantic the more the comment echoed in her mind.
How the heck was she supposed to respond to that? She was...uncertain. Uncertain as to whether or not she should threaten him or maybe curse him out, or maybe just stay silent. However, her confused thought process was abruptly halted when the man spoke up once more with that familiar, annoying-as-hell smirk.
Ah. That was better...Although, it didn't make her any less pissed off though, not at all.
With a scary, tense smile, her grip on their held hands tightened considerably as she resisted the urge to dig her nails into his hand. "You're lucky we're on a damned 'date'. Otherwise, your face would be broken right now." She told him in a low whisper without taking her eyes off the path ahead of them. It was hard not to frown afterwards, and the only thing that prevented her from doing so was images of wiping that smirk off the man's face...If only she could've done it in real life.
Thankfully, she did manage to lighten up, if just a little, when the fluffy furred body of the eevee was soon perched upon her shoulder. Ugh, this damn thing was just too cute for its own good...Not that she'd ever admit to such a thing. She had an image to uphold....and this god damned date was ruining it with each moment she had to act nice to her pretend 'boyfriend'. She found herself, once again, glaring at him from the corner of her eyes as she struggled to reign in her slowly flaring temper, and she was only snapped from her 'trance of anger' when he spoke up.
For a moment, she quirked a brow, having a rather sharp, judgmental look as to just how he was suddenly so knowledgeable of the 'popular couples places' all of a sudden. Before she could question him about it - or more like taunt - it seemed as though he had some excuse for himself. The girl only let out a slight 'tch', but, otherwise didn't question it.
Completely oblivious to the subtle gleam of glasses in the shadows, Vivian...didn't immediately catch on to his sudden tone change - in fact, it only proved to trigger that sharp temper of hers as she gave him a rather hostile glower. "...Best behavior my ass, go suck on a-" Her aggressive, slightly violent words were abruptly cut off when she finally realized why he had suddenly shifted his voice.
....Mission stuff....Right. Fuck.
"I-I mean...a-aha..." She stuttered, trying to correct herself and 'smile', but, it looked more like she were attempting to growl at him or something. With a grimacing half smile she cleared her throat, "dessert sounds...great....Sugar...plum?" The hell did couples even say to each other? Why was this so damn difficult?
It didn't help when some woman with an annoying voice and an even more annoying face was stepping into her 'no no space'. Vivian bristled slightly, resisting the urge to snap at the woman to 'get back' or just go ahead and deck her in the face. What the hell was so hard to understand about not getting in people's face? It didn't help that the woman had the nerve to call her and that idiot 'cute' - they were not cute together. It was more of an insult than anything. The brunette couldn't help but slightly glare at the lady, but, did thankfully hold her tongue...Well, until she mentioned being a newspaper writer...and wanting to interview them.
Oh...Oh no. No, no.
Vivian glanced over at Azad quickly, giving him a pointed, glaring look - perhaps almost a bit desperate for him to say something. Why him? Because she was positive the moment she opened her mouth at this moment, she'd say something that'd otherwise ruin this mission. When the white haired male said nothing to stop the crazy lady - not that either of them could really fit in a word to her - Vivian silently groaned. Why her?! She wasn't that horrible of a person for Arceus to condemn her to this sort of fate, right?
"W-wait, wait, n-" The lady's question about her made her weakly sputter out, about to wave her hands and make up some poor excuse that they didn't 'want their business' to be put out to the world. But, she was a moment too late - the damned traitor started talking, and it took everything in her not to glower at him or mouth threats under her breath.
Staring at him as he spoke, she found herself feeling...quite the range of emotions. Most were just varying levels of anger and irritation, but...somewhere deep, deep down. She felt a bit...glad? To be honest, this was far from the worst thing people had to say about her. If anything, it was almost like...a compliment, sorta? And despite their obvious resentment for whatever this 'date' was supposed to be, there was no denying the slight genuineness of his words....
And the he ruined it.
Whatever shock or even slight softness that came to her eyes was promptly snapped up quicker than a munchlax in a buffet. It didn't help that he smirked as well - oh man, did he know how to get her blood pumping. With a shaky smile, the girl faced the interviewer, trying her hardest not to flip out and say 'fuck it,' nor end up babbling about nothingness in her slight, tiny bout of nervousness. She wasn't really used to situations like these. "Stud? I think you might be a little bit too generous with your wording!" She gave a forced laugh, trying not to twitch or smirk.
"He's..." Oh, crap. What should she even say? Handsome? No - that'd be a lie. Fun to be around? She'd end up laughing her ass off. Did he even have any redeemable qualities? Realizing she'd been simply staring at the emerald eyed man for several seconds with a rather intense look, she soon cleared her throat. "He's strong. It's something I admire about him. I know that, in a pinch, I could probably rely on him, even if it kinda embarrasses me to admit it. I'm not just speaking about his pokemon either. He's kinda cocky sometimes - and sometimes, I just want to kick-" She stopped herself, biting her lip to stop herself from blowing their cover before continuing, "he's a strong person in the inside." She corrected, a bit gruffly.
"He'd be that dumb magikarp that keeps latching onto your fishing rod regardless of how many times you kick and punt it back out to sea. Strong-willed, and unyielding, even if annoying." She finished with a nod, giving a grin towards the interviewer, a bit proud of herself for not screwing this up...
That didn't mean that she didn't risk looking over at Azad to briefly frown and blow him a raspberry before turning her attention back to the woman though.

Wow, okay. That feeling in his chest that'd appeared so often throughout the date the one that seemed to destroy him from the inside whenever he held her hand, or caught her eye for a second to long. That feeling that really shut him down for moments at a time. that feeling increased tenfold. Almost in awe the man watch her at first only out of his peripherals, but as she continued the woman drew Azad's full attention his heart skipping an extra beat with every word she spoke.
The idea that he was strong wasn't something unfamiliar to him. No he'd worked hard for that, but he didn't quite think so, not yet. Constantly being compared and eventually comparing himself to his siblings Azad knew he wasn't there yet, but here this girl came not only complimenting his pokemon on their strength, but complimenting himself on his own strength. The man couldn't even fake a smile for a long moment his mind still rattling from the compliment. Even when she gave the addendum it still wasn't enough to really bring him all the way back the silver-haired trainer still attempting to process her statement. She'd shaken him truly with that, and he couldn't fully hide it.
When the interviewer laughed, he'd attempt something akin to the laugh prior, but it came a bit too hollow. The woman now that she had the two would attempt to ask the man another question, but he'd interrupt the interviewer not even a third of the way in.
"Ms. As much as we'd love to finish the interview, we have a reservation at a restaurant we have to keep. Good luck with your article." And with that his then loose grip on the woman's hand would tighten ever so slightly as he urged his date along his eyes deep in thought as they left the journalist to dry. After putting enough space between the nosy investigator and themselves the man would speak aloud ending the pregnant silence.
"You... held it together back there, I didn't think you could pull it off." Despite speaking the man's voice was lower still seemingly focused on navigating the two across the beachfront. With his mind still back at the interview moments ago the date on his end had become awkward to busy attempting to convince or really simply decide whether she'd meant what she said, or if she'd just said it for the interview, and even more if he meant what he said or if he said it for the interview. If only to move past it he'd force himself to believe the latter on both accounts even though the organ beating wildly in his chest spoke another story entirely. The researcher would chalk it all up to nerves blatantly refusing to consider the only other thing this feeling could mean.
Hyper aware of the space between them now, Azad would attempt to normalize the air between the two the only way he could with her. still trying to deal with the conversation despite his attempt at convincing himself. Annoyed with his own feelings more than anything he'd speak up antagonizing his date once more.
"This is so stupid and this entire date is annoying." "What you said earlier has me really shaken."
"You're the most irritating person I've ever met." "You're on my mind."
"After we get this desert, I'm gonna take you down, and for the record you couldn't break my face if you tried." "And I don't know how to deal with it."

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
Of course, Vivian was painfully oblivious to the effect her words had on him. She didn't compliment people often - if ever. But, she was...somewhat serious about what she'd said. Sorta. She didn't call people strong if they were weak - no, that was just cruel. And, as annoying as the man was, and as much as she wanted to just...push him off the side of the boardwalk, there was something about him. Something that stirred feelings of awe in her - and feelings that she really didn't want to think about. All she needed to see him was as an obstacle - a target she'd take out when she was strong enough. And she wasn't about to let this damned 'date' change that. And yet, even through her blatant, perhaps even harsh taunt towards him, she caught sight of his emerald gaze fully staring at her, and, for once, her glare towards him seemed to falter - if only slightly.
The interviewer opened her mouth to speak again, and the brunette bristled, likely on the verge of telling the lady to 'buzz off' and go bother some other stupid couple. Thankfully, her 'date' was much more mild-mannered than she was, and handled the situation with ease. Vivian only huffed, resisting the urge to either glower or secretly flip off the woman as they walked away. It was because of her now that things were awkward and a tense silence had settled upon them. She'd rather them be screaming and threatening each other than this. This just felt...awkward. And it allowed her thoughts to wander - and for her to realize that he was holding her hand. Again. Wasn't this just great?
When the man spoke up, she couldn't help but feel a bit grateful - not that she'd openly admit to it though. What she supposed was meant to be a compliment only made her glower at him from the corner of her eyes, appreciative of the familiar feeling of irritation rather than just...whatever the hell that had been back during the interview. "Tch. Don't underestimate me, idiot." The words were stubbornly stated with a hint of a warning...despite how true his statement had been. It was hard not to blow their cover back there when all she wanted to do was scream at the woman that this 'stud' was not, nor never would be, her boyfriend. Just the thought of it made her sick to her stomach. She was way outta his league anyway!
Almost immediately, they had fallen back into a silence that was...mildly uncomfortable. With each quiet, passing minute, she became aware of things. Like, for example, that his hand was actually pretty warm - and not in a completely horrible way. As well as the fact that she was way too close to him. Several times, she found herself staring up at him in what seemed like a mixture of a glare as well as a look of curiosity. When he suddenly spoke up, she was, once again, grateful...Until she registered just what he was saying. His antagonizing words that just begged her to flip out were appreciated - it'd make her get rid of ever possibly thinking of him as anything more than an irritating threat but...at the same time, why did she feel a bit...disappointed?
Either way, the young woman's eye twitched slightly as she struggled to maintain the 'fake' smile on her lips, the one she had practiced making for hours. What the hell was his problem all of a sudden - was he trying to get decked in the mouth?! For a moment, she felt her free hand clench, forming a fist as she glowered up at him, struggling not just...erupt into a frenzy of colorful, creative curses. 'I'm doing this for the money. I'm in it for the money. I need the money.' She had to remind herself several times as she could feel her blood beginning to boil.
...And then she snapped.
Letting go of his hand and coming to a stop, Vivian faced him. She perched herself on her tippy toes, hands roughly grabbing at the collar of his shirt and yanking him forward to where their faces were on a similar level, foreheads nearly pressed to one another as her fiery violet gaze bore into his own. To any who passed by...they merely looked away, probably thinking they were spying on a couple being a little bit too intimate in public. But, for Vivian, it was anything but. Her grip on his shirt tightened - trembled even, mostly out of restrained anger. "You have any clue how hard it is for me not to punch the shit out of you right now?"
She continued to glower at him, mentally contemplating how bad would it be if she just...elbowed him in the gut? Okay, okay, what if she tripped him...over the boardwalk? Despite the millions of terrible things she could do to him to make this day the worst of his life, she instead only gave a frightening glower. "You might be strong," she started, recalling her previous words towards him, "but I'm stronger," she was quick to add, making sure he understood just who was pissing off....Even if she knew she was bluffing. Not that she'd ever admit to that, of course!
"If you think you've got the balls to take me down, you better not disappoint. 'Cause you'll only get one chance to do it before I show you how strong I am."
She gave a victorious smirk, as though happy to finally get some of her usual meanness off of her chest. "You got that, old man?" [googlefont=Poiret One]

He was fuming, she was fuming, but at least this was something they knew. This was normal.
The hand holding had ended and only venom remained in those deep red eyes of hers. She faced him evenly forcing herself to meet his gaze despite height limitations, his own eyes marred with irritation anger quickly overcoming even that. She stepped close and he refused to back down their faces inches apart as she yanked him forward, the man refused to flinch as she stretched out his collar. Fai would hop off of the girl's shoulder to the nearby railing watching the two curiously very much interested in the affairs of the two as the trainers themselves refused to budge.
He'd let the girl speak her piece saying nothing only huffing every so often as she made her point. People would pass simply turning their heads away from the scene as from afar it seemed romantic the people completely unaware of the situations tension, despite the whispers Azad still wouldn't back down at this point the stubborn man couldn't have cared less about the mission or the passerbys. As she snarled and spoke Azad grew fiercer, because that stupid feeling in his chest even lingered now perhaps even more than it did prior. Despite the anger being so close to his brash date only made his heart beat faster finding himself more lost in her eyes even than he was angry. It was completely and entirely inane.
She finishes her tirade, and needless to say he began his own. With such a wide range of emotions hitting him at once the man chose to focus on the one that made most sense to him. "You always say you're 'this' close away, but I think you're just full of it." He'd glower at the girl pushing further now placing his hand against the railing in an attempt to close her off. "Fuck the coffee, how about we settle this right here right now." Waves would crash against the sand below as he spoke punctuating the statement. No cute smirk, or sassy tone to accompany the challenge. "It's a date between trainers, so let's do what trainers do best." Fai watching intently not too pleased with the current change of pace would glance between the two watching tempers flare. The pokemon had begun to form its own little plan obviously seeing what these two did not being the intelligent and unbiased fox it was. If this indeed led to a battle the pokemon just hoped whatever the girl chose to use would side with him who had become willingly entangled in the drama of these two stupid teenagers.
With his point made the man would move past the girl hopping over the railing onto the wet sand waiting for the girl to join. "C'mon kid don't punk out now!" Fai simply shook his head before hopping onto the sandy beach floor himself ready to enact his own plans.

Their uncomfortable closeness was otherwise disregarded by the passionate emotions that surged through the young woman - which she could only assume, or hope, was sheer, utter rage. Who the hell did this guy think he was talking to?! As she finished speaking, she had a sort of victorious smirk on her lips - as though she was positive she had managed to shut the man down. She expected him to back off - to shut the hell up, hell...maybe he would've even tried some crappy ass apology for irritating her in the first place.
But, that was jut wishful thinking. She knew that Azad was just as fiery natured as she was when it came to spats like this - their 'cave' adventure had proved that to her. And sure, maybe she was secretly relishing in this bit of normality for this otherwise odd day...but, that didn't make her feel any less irate though. Oh, no, she still definitely wanted to punch him or just...do...something!
'Oh. Shit.' Her gaze briefly flickered towards his hand, which not trapped her - otherwise turning the tables from what she thought had been a victory. Immediately though, her scathing violet gaze returned to his own once he began to speak, her eyes narrowing as he grip on his shirt briefly tightened. "Full of it?" She repeated with a scoff, lips parting to unleash a whole new spiel of her wrath. However, for the second time today, the pale haired man had managed o make her falter in her anger - something she was quickly becoming tired of. However, at his stated challenge, a brow would quirk, her face full of restrained anger relaxing somewhat as she actually listened to him. Quickly though, her lips pulled into a smirk.
Now he was speaking her language.
To hell with this whole 'date' shit. Why kiss each other when you could just beat the crap out of each other? Now that sounded a lot more fun, didn't it? "If you think you're up for the challenge, try me." She sneered, missing the eevee's subtle disappointment in the two trainer's otherwise failure of a date. Really, it had lasted far longer than Vivian had expected it to, in all honesty. Him calling her a kid - once again - was just a cherry on top in getting her blood to feel like it was being set on fire - she couldn't wait to wipe the floor with him. "Oi - shut the hell up. You're way too eager to get your ass handed to you."
With that, the brunette hopped over the railing, following on after the silver haired male. While she wasn't a fan of the wet sand, it was obsolete in the idea that she'd finally get to wipe that stupid ass smirk off the man's face once and for all. Even just picturing it in her mind made her want to hurl herself into the ocean. Really, she had to give it to Azad - he had the ability to piss her off faster than any other, for whatever reason. Facing him, a red and white ball tossed itself into the air, the red light forming into Asta - her trusted larvitar.
The rock/ground pokemon tilted his head, obviously confused - why was she fighting that nice trainer from before? Did she make him mad? His trainer did have the tendency to make people mad pretty easily...The larvitar could only sigh in exasperation before looking over at the eevee in an almost quizzical manner.
"Lets hope you can put some skill behind more than just your shit talking." She taunted crudely. [googlefont=Poiret One][googlefont=VT323]

His emerald gaze was focused entirely on the woman as she leaped off the side of the boardwalk a grin on her face now as she accepted his challenge. The man would move to the dryer sand before fully readying himself for battle a mix of cockiness and anger plastered across his face all the while. Finally, he'd have the chance to put this arrogant, annoying, selfish, crude, honest, powerful, pretty, witty, passionate, freedom loving... he couldn't remember where he was going with his train of thought but winning and taking her down a peg would definitely be worthwhile. While Azad toiled over thoughts of his future victory preparing an assortment of lines and statements, and quotes when the battle ended he'd miss Eevee positioning himself on the dry sand waiting for the opponents pokemon obviously plotting something or another. When the capsule flew releasing a rather curious and very confused looking Larvitar Fai would show no signs of hostility to the pokemon refusing to even get into a proper battle stance.
The eevee would actually chirp loudly to the Larvitar smiling at the rock type as if to say, 'Follow my lead'. Azad upon seeing the rock type would note it's abilities and power having seen it in battle a couple of times prior. Honestly Azad rather liked Vivian's larvitar it was a caring pokemon and the bond the two shared was in its own way similar to the one he and Aros had. As such it was no stretch to believe Azad felt a little bad for forcing the mountain pokemon out to fight his own ally, but that was they way the cookie crumbled he supposed. If he had to take the green pokemon down to show her up he wouldn't hold back. "Hopefully now you'll realize just how far out of my league you are little girl." As the waves receded the following crash would signal the start of this spur of the moment sunset battle. In the time that it took the two to prepare on the boardwalk a small crowd had begun to form among the people that came to watch the affair was of course the client himself. "Fai, start it off with a sand attack make sure the Larvitar can't see you!" The Eevee would begin to prepare the technique making its way over to the rock type quickly, but the pokemon's trainer couldn't help but see the fox pokemon was moving a bit oddly. Azad would simply chalk it up to pre-battle jitters. As Eevee approached it would wink at the larvitar purposely avoiding the rock type at the final second before kicking a torrent of sand up attempting to cover not the pokemon, but his trainer in sand.
"Fai what ar-" Azad had no idea what was happening but it was too late the dust had flown and surely war had started. Azad would watch in concern almost immediately ordering the normal type to cut the technique short until he saw the result as the dust settled.
The man couldn't help but smile confidently barely holding in a laugh. "Well Fai i'd say bad job but honestly it's an improvement." The normal type would return to the trainer standing directly in front of him now nodding heavily at the rock pokemon a sign that without a single doubt meant,
'Go for it.'

Adrenaline pumped through the brunette as the realization of a soon-to-be battle began to take its course. She was ready. The image of her finally knocking that stupid, arrogant smirk off of the man's face would feel so good. And, sure, she felt the slightest bit hesitant in having to beat down that cute eevee from before, but, if his trainer wasn't such an asshole, then maybe things wouldn't have turned out this way...Of course, the same could've been said for her, but, he knew what he was getting himself into the moment he still wanted to continue this dumbass date.
And there he went - calling her a damned kid again. Gritting her teeth, it was hard not to snap a reply back at him - no, she had to focus. 'Don't look at his stupid face and get pissed off - focus,' she had to remind herself of this several times now. Her pokemon, Asta, looked at her with a tilted head before back at the eevee, blinking once, then twice, before suddenly brightening up and eagerly nodding, seeming to finally understand.
And then, he made the first strike.
"Asta, counter it with- pfft?!" Any concentration she had - any sense of victory she'd feel was abruptly sent crashing when sand was suddenly kicked up not at her larvitar - but at her. The girl was left covered in sand just from the small kick, it covering her face and definitely in her hair and shirt...Honestly, she looked hilarious as she stood there, face blank and eyes wide. She was...honestly too shocked to even get angry just yet. Had this...really just happened?
Although, anger quickly set in when she heard the man speak up, obvious enjoyment displayed on his smiling face. "You god damned bastard - how the hell is this an 'improvement'?!" The girl nearly snarled, fist clenched and nearly trembled as she glowered at him, giving herself an, admittedly embarrassing, shake to get some of this damned sand off of her. So, this was how he wanted to play it? Fine then. She could 'win' this little game too then - and she'd win it well. "Asta - fuck him up! Use sandstorm!" It was a bit...childish, yes. That this was what had originally planned to be a challenge of strength and superiority had turned to.
But Vivian would be damned if she backed off and lost to it either way.
The larvitar let out a little cry, dashing towards the eevee...except, he didn't He moved directly past the furred pokemon, allowing a sudden whip of raging sand to lash out towards the man, intent on covering him in sand just as his trainer had.

The man covered his mouth stifling a laugh, "I'd say your in your element! Like sand you too are rough and hard to deal with it! He could barely hold himself down a snark and chortle managing to pass through his lackluster defense as the woman's temper once again flared. He'd glance down at Fai who feigned an apologetic look using his appeal to get one over on the professor. Eyes rose as she had to literally shake herself free of the sand that'd no doubt gotten itself everywhere. "I'm sure Fai did it by acci-" The trainer gestured to the woman eyes closed for a moment still barely able to watch the trainer. In truth he should have been expecting what happened next, but he didn't think the woman would be THAT immature. Behind him the crowd in a fit of giggles would watch situation more intently as the 'battle' continued. By the time Azad opened his eyes the opposing rock type pokemon had avoided the eevee entirely, the normal type simply stepping out of the way as the rock pokemon created a sandstorm heading straight for the white-haired researcher.
A torrent of sand would almost immediately envelop the green-eyed trainer the grainy pieces of dirt and rock covering him entirely. No orifice was safe. By the time the storm passed the man would have sand covering him head to toe: his shirt, his pants, his shoes, his hair even in his mouth. So much so the professor would be found coughing out bits and pieces of grainy substance as the dust cleared leaving the man coughing out bits and pieces of the grit no longer any smirk on his wildly disheveled face. "What the fuck!" He'd call across the now mounds of thrown sand. "Eevee don't let up Sand attack now."
The pokemon was more than happy to once again jot across the field once again kicking up a torrent of sand with its hind legs even more this time attempting to cover the girl entirely with sand. Even more Azad would follow the pokemon dashing to the girl. If she wanted to play rough then they would play rough. As the man ran however he'd trip over a mound running into the girl entirely. Falling into the sand entirely if he missed.

Hard to deal with? Tch - she'd show him how 'hard to deal with' she could be, in that case. Vivian didn't bother hiding her wicked smirk and harsh laughter when the swirl of sand partially swallowed up the man, covering him, from head to two, in sand. By the time the whipped up sandstorm died down, the poor man had it everywhere - and finally, Vivian felt sweet, sweet revenge. "Now that I can barely see your face, you actually look kinda cute." She taunted, letting a hand rest on her hip - and trying to ignore the uncomfortable feeling of sand being in every nook and cranny of her clothing.
She had expected that to be the end of it now that he'd receive a taste of his own medicine - and she was quite looking forward to holding at least some sort of victory over him...But, of course, it wouldn't be that easy, now would it? "E-eh?" She blinked slightly as the trainer issued his eevee yet another command, and the adorable bundle of fur came bounding back over. Except, not towards Asta, but towards her. "Wait- don't you fucking dare-!" The girl tried to threaten, not keen on getting a mouthful of sand again, but, it was too late. Another torrent of sand washed over her, covering her, once again, in warm sand. She spat, trying to get the disgusting grits of the mess out of her mouth and she shook her head, trying to get the stuff out of her hair.
Fucking great - it was in her bra too.
"Damn you!" Vivian hissed, coughing slightly as she glowered daggers at...Wait - where did he..? Her eyes flickered about before landing on the man that charged towards her now, having lost sight of him in the blur of sand. Before she could possibly issue out a command to Asta, who looked quite amused at this whole thing from where he went to sit next to Fai, her stupid 'date' tripped forward, running straight into her and sending them both falling. It, thankfully, didn't hurt much due to the softness of the sand, but, they could've landed on a bed of feathers for all Vivian cared. No - she was over this.
With both of them laying on the sandy ground in a slightly...suggestive position, the laughter and even the cooing 'aws' of those looking only fueled the girl. She was going to make him pay. He wanted to play in the sand so damn bad? Then fine - they could play in the god damned sand! She scooped out a heavy amount of sand, beginning to pelt the man with it. Sure, it was a bit childish as opposed to her just...punching him or something, but, it was honestly a bit funnier, and strangely, satisfying. And, if anything, she could just give him a black eye once she was done with this or something. And so, Vivian continued to try and smear sand in his face, smirking viciously.
"Hah! Fuckin' choke on it!"

The crowd was having more than it's fair share of fun watching the once battle turn into a sand war. With the two trainers now on the ground covered in sand the pokemon would simply sit on the side relaxing next to each other enjoying the rays of the evening sun as well as the battle that took place before them. How odd it must've been to see the shoe on the other foot, the two trainers going at it tooth and nail while the pokemon simply watched from afar. Fai no doubt making small conversation with Asta as the show went on.
Azad couldn't give less of a shit about the oohs and whistles of the crowd as he was pelted with sand, he couldn't be bothered about the precarious position they were in, even his outfit which he'd taken so long to prepare, and the look that he worked so hard to cultivate and keep pristine prior to 'this' had become irrelevant entirely. No, all he cared about burying this girl in the dirt. and so while she scooped sand pelting him with wherever he could Azad too scooped full arm fulls of sand pouring it on the girl as they shifted constantly finding better positions in which to bury each other.
He was covered yes, but so was she as the two continued to fight Azad taunting her now any sense of control he'd once had erased by the course of events. "You're fucking dead!" After getting hit with another mouthful of sand he'd now purposefully tackle the girl the two in their continuous assault of each other would roll down to where the sand became wet Azad still attempting to bury the girl, thankfully at this point the water had recceded for the moment forcing the duo even closer to the water Azad unaware entirely. "Now how do you feel!" An assortment of taunts and calls, swears, and whatever else would litter the sandy battle ground while the texture of the sand itself changed into something even more malleable. The wet sand sticking harder to their clothes and hair. Azad didn't know when exactly it happened, but by the time they'd begun to roll no longer was he grimacing or scowling, instead a smile and a broad one at that would have taken over the professor's expression.
As the two sifted and shifted the woman would manage to find her way on top now the sun at her back giving Azad a moment to see her smile the sunset just behind her. He couldn't help but be reminded of the one she'd shown at the cave cocky, proud, but honest. In a sense it was just as bright as the sun behind her and even more stunning. Before the man could think more on the moment the water that had receded prior had finally come to collect its due, that is to say.
They were both smothered by a wave.
