 "We're training today. No ifs, ands, or buts!" The bright, 'stern' words came from the 'professor-in-training' lips as she beamed down at the dark feathered bird before her. The pokemon's piercing red gaze was a bit...daunting, to say the least. It was abundantly clear that he was not a fan of this idea - likely because she refused to let him say 'no'. Too many times back in Sinnoh had the dark bird skimped out on aiming to get stronger - he was far more comfortable with just picking on the weak. But...not today! Not any longer!
"I know you're lazy-" That glare Iago gave her only intensified, and Amelia quickly swallowed. 'Right, still gotta play this on his terms,' she'd awkwardly cough, quickly changing her words.
"Er..I mean...I know you'd rather be spending your precious time doing other things. But, Iago! We're falling behind. Professors should be able to hold their own too, y'know." The long-haired female would lean down to look at the Mukrow, who'd scoff and look away. "When we're out researching, we can't depend on Eli to protect us all the time. Wouldn't it be nice to protect him for once?"
The bird would scoff even louder, spreading out his wings in an almost mocking expression at the mention of the blond. Amelia would only give a rather catty looking grin and a little, 'teehe'. "Oh please - you're not fooling anyone! I see how chubby you're getting - you enjoy and horde the little treats Eli gives you. You like him-" Almost immediately, a pebble was kicked into her face by the mukrow's flailing wing, earning a small yelp from the woman.
".....Love you too, Iago." The professor sarcastically stated towards the pokemon as she rubbed a particularly red looking spot upon her forehead. Her partner pokemon' unwilling attitude or not though, the red-head was determined about today. The look on Eli's face when she'd be able to show him that she could hold her own for once...it'd be priceless! And if they tried their absolute hardest...maybe they'd end up even being stronger than him? The image of the professor of all people being a 'damsel in distress' and she his 'knight in shining' armor...Now that was something she really wanted to see.
And so, with a wide, almost moronically cheerful smile that had quickly came to her lips, the woman began to almost cackle underneath her breath. "Hohoho! This'll be great!" She cackled with her hands upon her hips and her head thrown back in a loud laugh.
Iago, on the other hand, looked all the more exasperated by his moron of a trainer, and simply rolled his eyes....Before stretching his wing out to send yet another small rock flying towards his unsuspecting trainer.
"Heheheh- Ow!" The murkrow only smirked.

Back again! So, she'd definitely grind some good levels from all of this. Knuckles was sure to evolve with all of the experience they were racking up! And how exciting would that be?!? She honestly loved Infernapes more than she probably should. She'd miss Knuck crawling all over her shoulders and stuff though. Hopefully, he'd still cuddle from time to time...[break][break]
Either way, they'd gotten breakfast, then coffee and finished both quickly before they made their way out into route 29 again. It seemed like she'd spent her entire weekend not actually making any progress through the routes, getting too hung up on leveling up. But wasn't that the case in the games as well? Oh, she had to stop doing that! Comparing the games to actual, you know, real life. Seriously, what a dork... but she couldn't help it.[break][break]
The sound of cackling laughter made Roan flinch. She'd been checking behind rocks, various trees, different parts of the grass, looking for items. Because ironically, that'd been true as well! Finding random items!! Ha![break][break]
"...you heard that, right?" In a sense, it sounded a bit like a ghost type Pokemon. But those weren't native to the area. Knuckles gave Roan's cheek a pat, plam laying flat on it. "Yeah, I know, we'll be careful." She turned to give the plam a small peck of a kiss, which Knuckles quickly wiped off, before continuing down the route in hopes of finding the source of the noise.[break][break]
The shape of a woman and a Murkrow had Roan letting out a sigh as she made her way up. "Damn, I thought your cackle was a Ghost type. I was gonna be super excited." She waved toward the woman in greeting. "But look! It's a fellow ginge. Hello, I'm Roan."[break][break]
Could she help how giddy she was? A fellow trainer!!! And she looked... sort of the same age as Roan? Maybe older, probably older.

Too busy trying glaring down her jerk of a bird as he threatened to pelt more pebbles towards her, Amelia failed to notice the encroaching trainer until it was too late. The sudden sound of a voice behind her made her wince slightly, as she scrambled towards a pokeball on her belt - likely thinking it was a pokemon of some kind at first. Until the woman promptly realized that...duh - pokemon couldn't talk!
Swallowing down the slight embarrassment that welled within her, the long-haired female turned to stare at the other trainer before her, cracking out an almost prideful looking grin. While most normal people would've been almost offended that their laugh sounded similar to that of a ghost type...Amelia? That was possibly one of the finest compliments someone could give her!
"Hehehe," she chuckled under her breath once more, beaming proudly towards the trainer - Roan was her name, yeah?. "Maybe it'll attract a ghost type? That'd be pretty cool, right? Ah - maybe I should do it even louder?!" The almost excited, peppy reply came from the professor as she clapped her hands together, bright blue eyes filled with wonder. Thankfully, she was brought down from her..er, 'creative', idea by a firm peck to the head via her murkrow, who'd taken perch upon her shoulder in order to glower at this 'newcomer'.
Brought back to reality thanks to the little bird's admittedly needed gesture, she'd give a sheepish smile. "My names Amelia - oh, nice hair. Really love the color," she'd snicker, giving a small, rather goofy wink...And earning yet another roll of eyes from Iago. The debby downer of a bird would suddenly perk up, letting out a shrill caw of alarm.
Almost immediately, two shapes came crawling forth - a rather odd combo though. Was this because of the recent migrations? Interesting....Johto really was an amazing place. Ah - but, now wasn't the time to get sentimental. She was here to train, not nerd out! "Hey uh - Roan? You mind lending me a hand? I'm not really the best of battlers," she'd admit to the other woman without shame. "We'll take on the Tyrogue...Based on its body mass plus typing, Iago'll be a perfect match for it. In fact, based n the way its-" Before she could finish her little..'spew' of 'helpful' knowledge, her murkrow lurched off her shoulder, heading not towards the fighting type, but, the paras instead...Otherwise, completely ignoring her orders.
"...." The professor twitched slightly, watching as the glowing wings of the murkrow struck the paras' side in a Wing Attack. It was enough to flip the little bug over, its legs wriggling in the air as it struggled to get back onto its feet. Clearing her throat, she'd try to, otherwise, play it off. "I-I mean we'll totally take on the paras. Y-Yeah, go Iago! Uhm...do your thing!" Was this how battling worked?
Thankfully, the bird was more than competent enough to handle his own. It seemed that nasty attitude was followed by a somewhat scrappy persona, as he'd nimbly dodge a Scratch by the paras' flailing claws as it tried to flip itself back over. Another Wing Attack not only sent the bug/grass type flying back into the thick bushes, but, otherwise won the battle. Admittedly Roan was soaking up every bit of information she could glean. There was little she knew about environments and the like, but perhaps she could get a hang of things if she had somebody to show her the, uh, real life ropes. Really she was a sheltered girl who just got thrust out in the world. A paranoid sheltered girl, because of the internet. She knew all the bad things that could happen... she just also knew that if she had a strong Pokemon at her side that nobody could overpower her. Which was the goal, and the point, really. To be an ace trainer! Past that, maybe champion! But seriously, she just wanted an Infernape for the time being...[break][break]
"No worries! We've got the Tyrogue!" She gave her Chimchar a kiss on his fur before letting him down, grinning. "Let's go! Acrobatics!"[break][break]
At her trainer's words, Knuckles launched from her shoulders and swiftly attacked the Tyrogue with ACROBATICS. He tried to return the favor with a FAKE OUT but the Chimchar's trainer's words were too quick.[break][break]
"Follow up with another Acrobatics!" Any good gamer knows if a move works you find no shame in using it over, and over, and over again until stamina is down or you've been Disabled.[break][break]
A swift movement and the Tyrogue's attack missed. Knuckle's body swiftly moved to perform his ACROBATICS, nailing the Tyrogue straight in the side. As it tumbled away into the bushing, Knuckles returned to Roan's shoulder and licked her face. The redhead let out a laugh, giving her chimp a pet before feeding him a treat. That's how you gained friendship, other than walking around with them.[break][break]
"Great job." She looked over to the fellow redhead and gave a nod. "You two doing okay? Looks like that Murkrow really knows how to handle itself." She honestly couldn't tell gender. Maybe she should have pulled her Pokedex out, but she'd be told the gender if this lady wanted her to know. Right? Right.

Amelia watched the trainer's battle with eyes full of nothing but awe...and perhaps slight jealously? She couldn't imagine herself commanding Iago nor any of her pokemon in such a manner. Making moves based on 'gut' feeling instead of research and accuracy...weren't they afraid of making a mistake? How could they keep their cool even in the midst of battle? How could their pokemon react so inline with what their trainer wanted? All of these thoughts floated about in the young professors mind - especially when she and Iago fought side by side. It was mostly just him...well, doing stuff. She had little idea what to say, and was far too focus on admiring the anatomy and skill rather than the art of battling itself...
That was what divided a professor from a true trainer, she supposed?
The question asked by her new companion made the red-haired woman jump slightly, blinking several times. "....Oh! Yeah, he's uhm...a handful. Back in Sinnoh, he actually picked a fight with his group's honchkrow-" A small 'eep' came from the professor when her hair was suddenly given a rather hard yank by the bird that settled upon her shoulder. It seemed that, years or not, that subject was still a sore one for him. Giving her murkrow an apologetic look, she returned her gaze back to Roan with a small smile - about to comment once more until yet another set of wild pokemon appeared before them.
Curiously enough, there was a mankey this time around...and slowly but surely, the red-haired woman looked between both fire monkey and fighting one several times until a loud gasp was heard from her. Grinning widely, she abruptly pointed a finger at Roan. "I just..have to observe the dynamic between these two! Can you imagine how much information I could...Oh my arceus," the woman could barely contain her excitement. "The synergy you two give off is already amazing - to see it put to use against a similar opponent...O-My-Gosh! I wish I had my notebook!" And there she went again, with that overbearingly...eccentric personality of hers.
Clearing her throat, she'd now mostly look at the chimchar, as she tried to convince him forward as well to fight to his absolute best.
"Uhm...Think of it as a challenge! Whose the better monkey!" The slightly childish, playful words that came from her lips exuded nothing but vibrance.
Iago, rolling his eyes at his trainer's complete disregard that they had their own battle to do, would otherwise take it upon himself to deal with that hopip. All of its damned floating was annoying. A Wing Attack was used to send the hopip plummeting back down towards the ground. It tried to desperately use Synthesis, but, a quick Pursuit fixed the problem entirely - aka, knocking out the poor pink thing. With a smirk, the murkrow returned to his position of taking perch upon the woman's shoulder.

"Oh, whoa, me and Knuckles? Alright, yeah." Roan found herself shaking her hands loose and tilting her head to each side to pop her neck. Like she was getting ready for a fight. It's how she always won the Smash Brawls, so, why not?[break][break]
"Yeah!" She agreed with the professor, throwing her hand out. "Let's show 'em what we got! Move in close with Acrobatics, then use an up close and personal Flamethrower! Be quick, cause if he hits it'll hurt like a son of a bitch!" It might not have, but Roan felt like her entire core was on fire and she couldn't help how she was grinning. This felt so real, so awesome, so fun! Gods, there was nothing like it![break][break]
Knuckles ignored the FOCUS ENERGY the Mankey pulled off, pumping its fists together to ready itself and even managing to give off a LEER in the process! Chimchar didn't hesitate to follow out his orders. He used his ACROBATICS to hop and twist around surrounding objects and get close, hitting the Mankey back just as it was about to reel back for an attack. Its tail helped it stay up, which the Chimchar quickly lit on fire with a FLAMETHROWER as instructed.[break][break]
"Yes! Great job! Acrobatics again!" Roan quickly instructed with her fists clenched and up near her face.[break][break]
Knuckles wasn't bothered by the flames, not really, and maneuvered around them to deliver another ACROBATICS attack, knocking the Mankey out of the ashes that had been left behind by the Chimchar's earlier attack.[break][break]
"Oh yes!" Roan moved over to pick up her Chimchar and twist around in circles with him. "Knuckles! You are so the man!!" Excited glee came from the both of them in bounds and the redhead looked over toward the professor with a grin. "He was awesome, right? Mankey stood absolutely no chance!" Could she really help how she was laughing? Her Chimchar was a badass, thanks.
