clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
"If we come across another damn zubat.." Vivian trailed off into a quite, angry mutter, complaining mostly to Astaroth, who happily skipped - yes, skipped - by her side. The two had decided to explore the mountain once more after their...less than successful attempt a little bit ago. Aka, being robbed blind by rattata's - aka, 'the incident'. Ugh, just thinking about it made her blood boil.
But, they weren't here to reminiscence of pass experiences. They were here to train themselves - to get stronger...hell, to maybe even find a new companion for their team. But, so far, their luck really hadn't gone great. And look at cave wall after cave wall was honestly getting a bit boring, if not confusing. The further they trailed into the cavern, the more confusing its almost labyrinth like rooms became. 'Why can't things ever be straight forward?'
Eventually, Vivian would pause on the gravely edge of one of the higher levels within the massive cavern, eyes squinting as she tried to make out whatever she could in the poor light. Asta pulled and hugged at the best of her leg frantically, likely paranoid that she'd fall over...Which was a bit offensive. She wasn't clumsy and she wasn't an idiot - she'd be fine.
"Stop it," she grunted, using a leg to send the small pokemon rolling with a 'nudge' that was none to gentle. After a couple of more minutes of staring off into the distance, it became clear to the girl just how useless this was. The cavern, just like that damned Ilex forest, looked the same. Everywhere.
"Stupid Johto," she grunted bitterly under her breath as she went to step back...
And then she slipped.
"Holy shi- FUCK," the curse erupted from her in the form of a very embarrassing shriek. Foot sliding forward on the gravel, she slid forward, actually falling over the edge and onto one of the lower floors. It wasn't a huge drop, but that didn't mean it wasn't going to hurt like a bitch. And best believe the female was letting down a lovely stream of curses as she partially ragdoll rolled down. Instead of falling none too gently onto the ground though, the frazzled young woman landed on something warm, something...fleshy?
She slowly opened her previously tightly shut eyes, blinking several times as she tried to calm down her rapidly beating heart and disoriented thoughts. Unbeknownst to the girl who was still coming to her senses that she hadn't broken a bone, she had actually landed exactly on someone, and was currently using his back as a comfy seat.
Oops.

| DO YOU REMEMBER? LOOK AT ME AND ALL THE THINGS WE SAID WE'D BE. WE BEAT THE HOUNDS, WE PUSHED THE ODDS. WE'D TAKE IT ALL - WE HAD THE CAUSE. WITH YEARS TO BURN AND YEARS TO TRASH, LIVIN' LIFE BASED ON FLASH. BUT SOMEHOW REACHING FOR THE STARS, I THINK WE WENT A BIT TOO FAR.
It'd been a relatively peaceful day honestly. The dark skinned researcher had designated today to training as opposed to research, honestly it was something he'd been doing a little more often as of late seeing his pokemon's growth as well as his team's growth despite the team consisting solely of two pokemon. In fact expanding his team is why the trainer decided even to come to Mt. Suribachi the location was known for a variety of interesting pokemon and word had it that way back when one of the prime karate master's between Johto and Kanto spent a full year training in the cave honing its skill. If someone who trained with his father could find a year's worth of interest in the mountain surely Azad could find something within a day.
Thus the man traveled today he had Metang at his side not to battle with, but simply to serve as a sort of protector in the mountains. With the seasons changing and the influx of rain a few of the paths had become less stable and more slippery Metang's ability to fly and really catch the man with their more psychic oriented abilities served as a great safety net for the man if he were to lose his footing on the paths. That said The trainer wasn't planning to battle with the pokemon today, no his plan was to focus on the second member of his team which of course left the usually mild mannered golem slightly moody despite their unwillingness to admit it. Even so the mission came first and so the Metang would follow beside the white haired trainer red-eyes surveying the surrounding only to spot a girl above trekking with her own pokemon only for her to slip cause not only the girl to fall but a fair amount of rubble, and dirt alongside her.
Determining the rubble was more of a concern Aros immediately sprung into action Floating upwards using a powerful confusion to move and blast the rubble away, allowing the girl to simply fall where the pokemon knew she would be safest. That said this wasn't the ideal scenario for their trainer, but Aros was sure the man would get over it even if he'd be sullen at first.
And sullen he was.
Metang's sudden disappearance was surprising, but even more was the slew of swears and curses from above only for the man to be pummeled by a body as soon a he looked up forcing him immediately to the ground. Dressed in a pair of solid black pants and a gray sweater the man was none too pleased to have been thrown to the ground used as a pillow for this foul-mouthed, clumsy traveler, there was no doubt someone so reckless was and crude was a trainer.
He can't even move yet as the girl decides to relax on his spine as if he were some sort of mat where she could regain her bearings. Each time she shuffled the stranger would get slightly heavier each movement inching the researcher to full blown anger. He'd give it three seconds using the time settle his tone failing miserably to keep his annoyance in check.
"If there is a body still on my back at this point it must be either injured or dead."

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
Instead of plummeting towards her death, or broken legs at the very least, Vivian had landed on something kinda...nice? In a weird, odd way. Still - that didn't make the scraps she'd gotten from the fall any less annoying, and she was still a bit frazzled from her 'near death' encounter, and so, it took her a few moments to realize just what she was sitting on. Until it talked.
Eyes widening, she glanced downwards, only to see that she was sitting on some...guy. So wait - that meant...Oh. Oh. Now, common sense would probably tell someone to get off of the big, scary man, right? Unfortunately for everyone she encountered, Vivian lacked even the basics of common sense. "Holy shit this is hilarious." She couldn't help but smirk slightly with an amused look. He sounded a bit upset - or, maybe just slightly irritated? Had she possibly found her newest target of entertainment in this dumb, boring mountain? "You're a big guy, it didn't hurt." She cooed slightly, giving him a little pat on the back from where she sat. She...didn't exactly thank him. Then again, who ever expected her of all people to thank anyone?
Thankfully, she had enough sense to stand up and get off of him before she was hurled down yet another cliff's edge in this arceus forsaken mountain. Standing up, she gritted her teeth at the slight scraps that had formed on her elbows and knees from her ungraceful fall. Speaking of which...she was just gonna act like that didn't happen. It was beyond embarrassing. What would people say years from now when she, the strongest trainer in johto, slipped and nearly killed herself in Mt.Suribachi of all places?
Letting out a slight 'tsk', and scraping off the gravel that stuck to her, she opened her mouth - probably to tell the man something, until a familiar cry made her perk up. Oh...shit, she'd forgot about Asta.
Sure enough, the larvitar was flipping out in concern and uncertainty if his trainer was alright. Tears were running down his face and his screeching cry was loud. He looked over the edge, trying to see through the gathered dust as he sniffled and hiccuped, desperately trying to see if his trainer had survived the fall.
Wincing slightly at the loud sobs of her partner pokemon, Vivian scowled. Why was he such a big baby all of the time?! Hell - why hadn't he jumped down to try and see if she was alright?! "Asta, shut up!" She shouted up at him in annoyance, unsure if he could even hear her through his wailing. Almost immediately though, the crying stopped.
...What?
With a squint of her eyes, she soon saw the shape of the larvitar hurtling down towards her, arms spread as though he expected her to catch him and happily crying out for her - the little idiot had jumped. And, despite his small size, Asta was heavy as hell. And so, with a grimace, Vivian crudely sidestepped, only sighing when the rock/ground type went crashing and rolling just beside her. Honestly, that fall sounded rough. 'He's fine,' she convinced herself with a slightly irritated look.
It seemed their luck had all but ran out as well, as her idiotic pokemon had not only went rolling, but straight into a nearby ponyta, who let out a shrill neigh of pain as the hundred pound pokemon was tossed smack dab into her. Her mane flared up wildly - likely in anger and shock, as she stomped a hoof down, narrowly missing the larvitar as he scrambled away from her.
Seemingly not all too hurt from his 'fall', Asta took a place in hiding behind her, peeking at the enraged horse from behind his trainer's legs.
"Good going, dummy." She groaned slightly - especially upon seeing horse-face over there had some sort of bug buddy too. Great. "Oi - if you're a trainer worth two cents, I wouldn't mind some assistance," Vivian called to the man from over her shoulder. Probably not the best way to ask for help, but...eh. She had caught glimpse of a metang earlier during her 'tragic incident' - had that been his own pokemon?

Wow. Just Wow. With each passing day these damn trainers just seemed to grow more audacious, this newest wanderer in particular grated against Azad's already bad temperament. The woman as opposed to getting the fuck off his back, instead, would pat him a couple of times coddling the dark-skinned researcher sarcastically only then casually removing herself from his person. Piercing green eyes would glance up only to see Aros moving the rest of the caught rubble away from the two using its psychic to gently place the falling gravel and dirt on the side of the path all the while watching his partner with something that Azad felt was mild enjoyment. There was no doubt in his mind that the two would definitely have to have a talk later.
With the girl off his back the man would finally stand up dusting himself off noting his white sweater was ruined for the day. All the while the catalyst to what was turning out to be a bad day was dealing with an issue of her own. Piercing green eyes were drawn to the panicking rock type pokemon above no doubt the other half of this newest posse sent to piss him off. While she dealt with her pokemon the researcher would remove his sweater, eyes halfway focused on the girl now. She was definitely cute, but with everything that'd just transpired it was a note that he'd force to the very back of his mind choosing instead to focus on what annoyed him about the stranger. dressed only in a black t-shirt and black pants the man spent a moment stuffing the used article in his bag figuring out what his next move was. He'd finish just in time to catch the girl's pokemon throw itself off the very same cliff she fell from moemnts ago only for the girl to sidestep the pokemon's landing earning a wince not only from Azad, but even Aros turned away from the fall. As it began to roll Azad pulled a pokedex from his pocket scanning the green rock type deducing that if it took that jump it had to be fine, the pokemon after all didn't seem too hurt.
"Well aren't you two a class act." The trainer scoffed watching the events spiral even further out of control ultimately leading to the surrounding pokemon looking for a fight. At the girl's request (if it could even be called that) the researcher would pull a pokeball from his belt. "I don't have time for this.". As he attempted to step forward the man would wince a sharp pain shooting through his ankle now. Making it quickly apparent the man wouldn't leave without a fight, thankfully he was at least halfway looking for one. Realizing he must've sprained his ankle in the collision the researcher could only swear under his breath, 'just icing on the cake.' A tap of a button later the ball would expand and with a toss the professor revealed his second pokemon. The ghoulish Spiritomb would float it's corporeal body expanding from the keystone immediately honing in on its two opponents and giving a curious glance to its one somewhat bewildered ally. With his pokemon revealed Azad would speak again annoyance and derision equally laced in his tone. "I suppose some competent assistance is a must, just don't get in my way, alright kid?"
With that the trainer's focus was on the battle "Varus take the offensive, Feint attack the Ponyta." And so the dark type would draw the already angry horse pokemon close before striking it quickly with a spectral fist. In response the fire type would Unleash a flame charge on the spirit pokemon dealing a fair amount of damage and in turn leaving the fire type open to a counterattack. Azad however would leave the fire type to his partner hoping she had at least some skill when it came to battling. Thus, the trainer would focus on the smaller bug type as it attempted to follow its friend with a tackle attack on the ghost pokemon only for the burmy to faze through the Spiritomb. Using this as an opportunity Azad would give his next command. "Hypnosis on the Burmy." Almost instantaneously hypnotic spirals would emanate from the ghoulish pokemon's eyes putting the bug type to sleep leaving it open once again. "Take it down with dream eater."
And with that the weaker of the two wild pokemon was put down. The sleeping pokemon would begin struggle in its sleep as a psychic energy surrounded the unconscious pokemon dealing damage and restoring the Spiritomb's health twice over until the sleeping bug pokemon was out of commission. Hopefully the same could be said for its ally as Azad turned towards the Larvitar and his trainer.

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
Impatiently staring at the man for a moment, the girl gave a small smirk as, despite his obvious irritation towards the situation, he otherwise had no choice but to help her. Er - it wasn't as though she needed his help. Nah, she was just curious in seeing if he was a trainer actually worth something. Too many people in this region could run their mouths but weren't worth shit when it came to an actual fight - and it was irritating. Not to mention, having an extra pair of hands would help make this encounter go faster, especially when flaming horse over there looked ready to burn down the whole cave. She watched as the man tossed the enlarged ball in his hand, calling out a...what the hell was that? A heavy, odd looking keystone sat on the ground for a moment, and the girl couldn't help but narrow her eyes. "Buddy, I think your geodude's dea-" Before she could finish her snarky quip, a spectral wisp quickly leaked from it, a dark violet in color as rips of vibrant green appeared in its form. As the terrifying being hovered before them, she realized just what pokemon this was - one she had only ever read about - a spiritomb. A familiar, excited spark flared in her violet hued eyes as she stared at the pokemon sharply for a moment. Just how strong was it?Or...more importantly, how the hell did this guy come across one?! Letting her slight envy of such a rare pokemon go, she opened her mouth, prepared to deliver sharp words of some kind to the man...However, before she could even get some form of 'stay out of my way' out {a custom for any person she double battled with}, the man who stood before her did. And, at first, she was genuinely appalled. Was this guy a mind reader or something? However, her slight shock quickly turned to irritation when she realized just what he had said. The fuck?!Kid...? Get in his way?...KID?!"Oh. Cute." Vivian partially hissed under her breath. Forget fighting the wilds - if this guy wanted to go here and now, they could wait. So what if he had a stage two and some ancient spirit pokemon? If anything, that just meant it'd feel all the more satisfying when she wiped the floor with him, right? Surprisingly, she was able to reel in her momentary anger before it exploded into a violent outburst - her glare still remained though.
"I'm not the one who hurt themselves, last time I checked." She sharply responded, giving him a brief look from the corner of her eyes, a taunting smirk on her lips. No - she hadn't missed his wince of pain, even if it had been subtle. Did she feel guilty that she had likely caused him some sort of pain from her fall on him? Eh. He'd be fine. If anything, he'd be in a world of more pain if he slowed her down. Before she could possibly assault him with her words more, the lighter haired man wasted no time in beginning the battle, quickly and effortlessly commanding his pokemon to finish off the foe. It was...impressive. Sorta cool. Maybe even awe-inspiring at how easily his pokemon listened to him. Would Vivian ever admit that though?Hah."Took you long enough. Let me show you how a true trainer works," she flashed him a wicked smirk before turning towards the remaining pokemon - the ponyta. "Asta, lets go." The larvitar puffed out his chest, probably trying to look cool in front of the obviously experienced trainer - Vivian otherwise ignored it. The fire type before them stomped a hoof on the ground, snorting loudly. It charged forward, mane flaring wildly, becoming larger and larger before it wrapped around the pokemon in a fiery cloak - flame charge. "You'll be fine. Use the opportunity to get close and use screech." The larvitar nodded, bracing himself as the fiery pokemon charged at him. Its body slammed into him, the fires hotly touching his rocky skin and the force of the move sending him sliding back a little. However, it didn't phase the pokemon much at all, as his mouth opened and an echoing screech released itself from his gaped jaws. The ponyta snorted loudly in slight pain of its stinging eardrums, rearing backwards a bit. The wild ponyta used flame charge! It wasn't very effective... Asta used screech! The ponyta's defense was sharply lowered! After shaking itself off, the ponyta reared up just in front of Asta, dangerously sharp hooves glinting in the dim light of the cavern as it prepared to use stomp. "Quick - counter it with a stone edge." With a single stomp to the ground, sharpened pillars of rock jutted upwards from underneath the ponyta, making it cry out as it was sent skidding back a little. As its body crumpled to the floor, the swirls in its eyes clearly showed its defeat. The wild ponyta used stomp! But, it failed! Asta used stone edge! It's super effective! The wild ponyta fainted! Giving a nod of 'well done' towards her pokemon, who beamed in front of the Spiritomb, Vivian turned her attention back towards her...companion. "So, you're not a shitty trainer. I guess that's one redeeming quality about you." It was meant to sound like a compliment. Maybe. Okay, perhaps she was purposely being snarky, but, she was still a bit annoyed that he had the nerve to call her a damn kid. She was a woman, dammit! Still though, she didn't mind acknowledging actually good trainers. Even if her way of complimenting others was...snide, at best. Brushing off whatever dust may have gathered on her black tank top, she stared at him for a moment. Well, several moments, actually, before abruptly asking, "are you actually hurt?" Was she concerned?Pft. No.She just wanted to see how many brownie points she could award herself. 5 for just a few scraps - maybe a sprain, 10 if she managed to break a bone. With burmy unconscious Azad would glance over the Spiritomb who looked no worse for wear. Thankfully any damage done by the fire type had quickly been recovered by its dream eater leaving the wisp pokemon ready for future battles. The spirit's draining move was quickly becoming one of Azad's favorites if for that reason alone. With the quick analysis of his own pokemon complete Azad's focus would turn to the second side of the battle piercing emerald eyes focused as stones jutted into the Ponyta's side knocking the second wild pokemon out leaving the two trainers and their respective pokemon victorious. Varus wasn't fond of children, but still the amalgamation of spirits would give the smaller larvitar a fair once over before the entirety of the spirit would return inside the odd keystone unwilling to discuss or deal with newcomers in the slightest. The now glowing keystone would instead simply float at its trainers side ready to reveal itself at the researcher's behest. Aros, however, seemed a bit more worried about his partner's condition. The man seemed to be moving oddly, more so than usual and so it'd simply float close behind the trainers back it's deep almost grinding voice imparting a warranted amount of concern to which Azad only responded with a pat on the golem's head.
"I'm fine. Let's keep moving." He'd keep his voice low communicated with the multi-brained pokemon attempting to walk normally. Memories of his father and the elder Slade's training resurfaced as the discomfort further cemented itself in the professor's body. Pain is an illusion; it's in the mind. While the memorized mantra did little for the man the combination of spite and pride made it a little easier for Azad to hold himself together. He wouldn't give the stranger the satisfaction and so stubbornly he'd continue forward. "Not entirely incompetent. You battle better than you balance." He'd speak to the woman his eyes focused on tanktop clad stranger's still not pleased with the situation at hand. In truth she'd taken out the Ponyta rather efficiently. As a battler she may have held some skill Azad would relent internally, but then again there was only so much the man could judge from a single battle.
"You weren't concerned when you landed on me." He'd glance at the girl passively now halfway inspecting her for any injuries. Even if she'd found sanctuary on his back she'd still taken quite the tumble and there was a fair chance the the rougher woman hurt herself more than she was willing to let on, not unlike himself. Nothing in particular stood out, but as he or rather 'they' moved forward he'd keep an eye on her lest she make the same mistake twice and crash into some other unsuspecting trainer, or worse. "Don't fall to a guilty conscience now kiddo." He'd choose the word carefully remembering how it'd gotten under her skin the last time. Was it petty? Perhaps. Was it deserved? In his mind without a doubt.
As if the idea that the two would travel together was fact set in stone the arrogant trainer would begin to move onward every third or fourth step would result in him faltering ever so slightly. He'd use, or at least attempt at using the girl's pride to reel her in on this hopefully short journey. "You coming, or can you not keep up?" All the while his team would follow the trainer floating closely behind the researcher Aros still very much concerned about the injured trainer and his own pride. Forcing that ankle of his would only cause larger problems in the long term.

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
"And I punch better than I battle. Watch it, old man." Of course, it took only a couple of seconds for Vivian to threaten him, her sharp, violet hued gaze becoming even sharper as she glowered a him - however, a smirk definitely played on her lips. If she was a kid, then this guy was as old as dirt. After all, his hair was a ghastly white in color - for all she knew, he could've been one of those disgustingly old people trying to act young. And hey, it was a bit too dark in the cavern for her to tell if he had any real wrinkles on his skin. Letting out a scoff, she watched from the corner of her eye as her larvitar only beamed at the odd, ghastly pokemon, not seeming to mind his distaste for him at all. Had he been taller, he surely would've tried to grab at the odd keystone that floated along, however, a sharp glance from his trainer was all it took for him to, grudgingly, leave the amalgamation alone and return to her side. "I'm not concerned." She corrected snarky, giving him a glower. Instead of taking his inspecting stare like a normal person, i.e thinking he was looking her over for injuries, Vivian couldn't help but feel like the punk was sizing her up. If he wanted to fight - they could fight, here and now. She was just waiting for him to make a move or show any violent indications, but, instead, he merely taunted her...calling her a freaking kid once again. "I'm not a damn kid- fuck you." She grumbled under her breath through gritted teeth, "I should've landed on you harder." Secretly fuming - well, it wasn't a secret, she sent quite a few angry glances over towards the man - she only answered his question with a scoff. Speeding up, she, none too gently, shouldered past him, taking the lead now. She was positive Mr. Limps over there would lead them off of a cliff. Or maybe push her off of one. Asta, however, paused by the man's side briefly, staring up at him before looking at his leg, something akin to sympathy and concern in his scarlet colored eyes...much unlike his trainer. However, after a brief glance, the larvitar sped back up to return to Vivian's side, who hadn't spared the white-haired man a second glance. Just as Asta returned to her side, it seemed their newest foes had appeared, yet another odd duo...The wooper looking a bit more...out of it than its companion. But, either way, they would work. Whether they intended to fight back or not didn't really matter to Vivian either. She was a bit irritated at the moment - and just picturing Mr. Limps smug, snarky look irritated her even more. And while she wanted to have Astaroth handle both of these twerpy pokemon by himself, even she wasn't that idiotic. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, the other trainer's assistance was...helpful. Somewhat. God, just thinking about it made her want to throw up in her mouth. "Don't get cold feet on me now, old man - come on," she regarded him in an icy taunt. "Asta, engage- use crunch on the anorith." The larvitar was a bit startled by her abruptness in jumping into battle, but, quickly followed her command. The sharp teeth of his mouth became basked over in a pale glow, their sharp accents becoming illuminated as he charged forward. The anorith was a smart one. At the same time Asta's teeth harshly crunched down onto its body, its plated form became cloaked in a faint, almost metallic sheen, helping in blunting the damage made by the attack. Asta used crunch! The wild anorith used harden!
"Tch. Asta, use stone edge." Once again, jagged stones that tore through the ground headed towards the wild pokemon before abruptly erupting underneath it. The odd, ancient pokemon let out a little cry as it was sent flying a bit. However, a claw of the anorith quickly lurched forward, scooping up one of the broken, rugged stones from the stone edge attack and sending it hurling at the larvitar - and hit him straight in the forehead. Man, who knew a rock bug could have a hell of an aim? The larvitar pawed at his face, whining softly in slight aggravation at the stinging sensation, but, it otherwise didn't do too much damage. Asta used stone edge! It was super effective! The wild anorith used smack down!
Despite how tired the anorith looked, in a surprisingly speedy motion, it crawled forward, partially slamming its wild companion out of the way from where the wooper idly sat, as it lunged towards Asta. An extremely sharp claw was posed, glinting in the dull light and posed to strike as it threw itself towards her pokemon - this was the chance they needed. "Asta, use the closeness to your advantage. Grab its claw with a crunch and finish it off," she demanded. Fangs becoming a steely white once more, they caught the anorith's clawed 'hand' just as it neared towards its face, harshly crunching down and locking it in place. In a surprising show of strength, the larvitar reared its head back and sent the pokemon flying with a single swing of its head, letting go at the last minute and sending the pokemon colliding into a cavern wall. This time though, the anorith didn't rise back up - it'd been defeated. The wild anorith used scratch, but it failed! The wild anorith fainted! Vivian didn't say anything - she didn't have to. That didn't mean she didn't have the biggest shit-eating grin she could muster though. | NOTES I'm sorry this took so long! larvitar + 2 levels ---

In seconds the girl had jogged ahead of the white haired researcher pushing past him easily taking the lead. Azad could only roll his eyes as the spiteful, energetic girl began to push their journey forward. He'd have said something more, but trying to speed up significantly on this ankle wasn't feasible or even possible at this point and so he was resigned to let the woman have her way, for now. Piercing green eyes stayed at the woman's back his glare focused knowing she didn't realize and if she did she didn't care. Following the trainer's push to the front was her pokemon that seemed a little more interested and concerned about the researcher eyeing the man carefully somewhat concerned to which the dark-skinned man would carefully kneel making sure to keep pressure off his injured leg. "I'll be fine little one." the man would the attempt to pat the rock type's head before Azad could however the pokemon had waddled off to its trainer not wanting to be left behind.
As it waddled the man would stand tall shakily before pushing forward making sure not to fall too far behind himself lest the girl complain about that too. "Aros scout ahead, we know our new 'problem' doesn't have or know much in terms of safety. Make sure she doesn't roll off another cliff." The golem was hesitant to leave his injured partner but, a second glance from his trainer found the pokemon obeying the command sending it deeper into the recesses of the cave floating above the party leader and moving far forward taking the lead. The metang would remain just barely in sight of the small caravan of people and pokemon alike it's red eyes serving as a sort of beacon for its trainer.
Before the steel type could get too far ahead, however, it seemed like their next fight had begun. As Azad reached the duo another battle had already begun. The opponents this time were Anorith and a Wooper, while the former was fully engaged in combat the latter was watching preparing to attack the rock type that had intercepted its friend. Just as the water type prepared to unleash its move, Azad's voice traveled through the darkness. "Feint Attack." The keystone would almost meld with darkness the keystone slamming into the rather dopey looking pokemon with a solid faint attack giving the water type something new to worry about.
Arms crossed Azad's eyes flitting from his new-found battle to his arrogant companion. He can't help but huff as the keystone shone brightly in the darkness releasing the massive wisp pokemon once again. "Cold feet? What a joke." With a new enemy introduced the wooper bewildered and annoyed now would lock on to the spiritomb firing a torrent of mud at the ghost type pokemon dealing a light amount of damage. Judging by how injured, or rather uninjured the massive wisp was it was apparent there was a massive gap in power. Knowing that the wooper held little threat to his pokemon the researcher would use this time not only to finish his own battle but to learn a little more about the girl's green pokemon. He'd flip the pokedex from his back pocket quickly scanning the ally pokemon. Despite taking his time to research the man had no intention of simply ignoring his own battle "Confuse Ray." And so a familiar orb of light would appear bursting in front of the water type leaving it confused entirely. The pokemon would attempt to respond with a water gun, but confused the pokemon would simply fire a torrent of water at the wall closest to it
"Finish it. Hypnosis into Dream Eater." He'd glance u at the battle halfway more interested in 'Larvitar's' entry still sifting through information concerning rock type. They were pokemon known not only for their power, but for their odd and large appetite eyes drifted to the battling pokemon impressed with it before flickering back to his own fight just in time to catch the water pokemon collapse asleep. In moments a dark blue aura would surround the wooper its entire body writhing as it experienced its dream being snatched away by the demonic pokemon promptly leaving the enemy unconscious.
He'd watch the girl's battle end as the wisp returned to his trainer the keystone once again seemingly absorbing the spirit. Even in the blackness of the cave he could still catch the girl's features brighten in the darkness, a trainer celebrating a win with her pokemon, even if the girl was rude, crude, and generally irredeemable she too, was human. So much so in fact the trainer caught himself smirking in his temporary gawking, catching himself he'd cough twice cutting his smirk for something more neutral. Though that image of the rude stranger with her pokemon was one that stuck with him. "Since you're so set on leading try your best not to get yourself killed, for the second time today." And with that he'd cross his arms waiting for the girl to continue moving forward unwilling to limp in front of her.

clever as the devil but twice as pretty ____________________
This guy...he..was strong. Vivian could tell that right off the bat. Over their course of traveling together, even if brief, he had an air to him. And the way his pokemon carried themselves...It was impressive. And yet, it annoyed her. By a lot. Like, in a way that sorta made her pissed off and want to punch him. Of course, she didn't though. Nah, she already did enough to him by hurting his ankle. Had it not been broken though? Oh yeah, definitely. Still, she did somewhat admire his efficient way of battling. Not too flashy, nor did he made stupid decisions. He wasn't weak, and Vivian could respect that.
Sorta.
She still wanted to punch him.
Especially when she realized he had aided her in battle. Asta wouldn't have been able to handle the two pokemon in battle on his own - especially not a water type. However, she decided to overlook the fact that the man may have 'saved' her in favor of just letting out a little 'tch' and looking away. Despite her obvious annoyance though, she did feel a bit of pride swelling for her larvitar, who danced and cheered by her feet, as happy as always. He looked up expectantly at her, and though Vivian rolled her eyes, a ghost of an actually happy look coming to her face. "Alright, alright. I'm proud - good job." She praised him, and Asta responded by partially attacking her leg in a hug, nuzzling his face into it.
Ugh, his optimism was rubbing off on her, wasn't it?
The sudden cough made her freeze, her head whipping back towards her 'companion', embarrassment slightly burning through her - had...he saw that? For a moment, Vivian was unsure whether she should threaten the man not to say a word of what he'd seen or to just act like it'd never happen. And so, for a moment, she awkwardly glowered at him, Asta still hugging onto her leg, much to her disdain. "Shut...up," the girl grumbled, reply a bit weak in comparison to her earlier snarky tone and sharp replies - she was still a bit frazzled. The last thing she needed was this guy going around and spreading rumors that she was some corny, stereotypical 'pokemon softie' or something and ruining her image.
And so, with that, she only scoffed, giving the man one last, final glaring look before continuing forward...Well, after shaking Asta off her leg first and snapping at him to 'go hug a stalagmite if he was lonely'.
As they continued on their little trek in silence, Vivian...honestly had no idea where she was going. She was completely, and utterly, lost, and had a feeling she was leading them deeper into the damned mountain rather than out of it. Now, she could've maybe asked Mr. Limps back there to throw her a bone and help her. But...aha, that wasn't an option. She'd rather swallow a geodude than do that. And so, with an almost pouting frown that grew deeper the more confused she grew, it was becoming increasingly obvious that she had no idea where to go.
"Oi - Limps. Do you hear that?" She suddenly spoke up after a minute, deeply irate look pausing as she looked around. It...sounded like something was heading straight towards them? But...where?

She was lost.
It was apparent with the increasing hesitance in her steps and the slowing of her pace. Azad despite his realization and his understanding of exactly how lost she was remained silent, not because he too didn't know where in the cave they were, but because he was enjoying simply watching the girl bumble around the smirk on his face growing ever so slightly the deeper they got. That is also to say he wouldn't do any better seeing as exploring caves wasn't really a specialty of his. At this point he was just betting on her stubbornness and when she'd turn and 'cave' in asking for assistance. after all there was no way the girl could be that stubborn, Could she? On occasion he'd simply sigh making sure it was loud enough for his partner to hear if only to aggravate the girl further petty revenge for the troubles she'd brought to him. Metang would fly above the party serving as the true vanguard for danger, the steel type's red eyes serving as a beacon for Azad. Honestly as long as he had Metang the man wasn't worried about getting lost, no if anything he was concerned about wild pokemon in this darkness and being caught by surprise.
And for good reason.
At a point the woman would stop her meandering christening Azad with a new nickname as she spoke her voice echoing through the hallowed cavern asking if he'd heard something. "Nothing, but the sound of your stalling 'fearless leader'. Seeing as we've stopped again could it be? That you don't know where the hell you're going? Gasp." He deadpanned his sarcasm almost palpable. He'd limp forward slightly only for Metang to fly back to the trainer a series of metallic grunts that seemed extremely urgent directed at the researcher. Before the man could fully understand what the metang was trying to tell him, he'd hear the rumbling himself attmepting to figure out what it was the cave floor began to tremble. Something was coming, something large and something fast and so without any sort of warning he'd tackle the girl to the side(doing wonders for his already injured ankle) just in time for a rhyhorn to stampede past the two slamming into a wall shaking the cavern entirely.
In the shaking from the ceiling a second beetle pokemon would fall to the ground alongside small pieces of rubble the pokemon having been disturbed the second pokemon also turned aggressive. With the shaking having ended Azad would open his eyes allowing emerald to meet scarlet getting a better look at the woman for the first time over the course of their journey, his heartbeat would quicken... "...You alright?"
Spiritomb noticing the danger would rise from it's keystone forming a certain boundary between the enemies and the trainers ready to defend the trainers or really its own trainer from harm if the two cave dwelling pokemon attempted to attack while the two were down and in quite the precarious position.

The man's highly sarcastic reply was met with a glare, until it briefly faltered into embarrassment. Yes - she wasn't the best at directions...But how the hell was anyone supposed to navigate through a cave like this? Every corner looked the damn same - it was a dark as a god damn jynx...and she hadn't seen Limps over there step up and try and take lead once...'He's full of shit,' the girl aggressively thought to herself...most likely to try and make herself feel a bit better. The fact that he managed to bruise her ego was no something she would willingly admit to - and if anything, it just pissed her off even more. "Hey - fuck off, I'm trying to get us through this fucking god damned dumbass-" Before she could even finish her sentence, which would likely include several more curses before it ended, that steel golem of his had hovered down to face the two trainers, several noises emitting from the creature, which only made Vivian feel even more irritated.
What the hell was it trying to say?...Was it mocking her?! Did it think this whole 'adventure' was a joke?! About to possibly include the poor steel/psychic type in her angry rant, the trembling of the cave floor intensified, briefly distracting her from her rage filled thoughts. Just what was this? Maybe it was an onix burying underneath? Or a pokemon that got a little too earthquake happy? Before she could open her mouth again to pester the man if he could identify the cause, she was tackled to the ground, a grunt escaping her throat as her body tensed considerably. One because of the close contact...but also because she was prepared for all hell to break lose as to why the actual fuck he had decided to just toss himself at her all of a sudden?
Before she could even get her throat ready to deliver a mortifying screech of wrath towards the man, a harsh gust of wind partially slapped against her face as a charging tank of a pokemon raced past, slamming into the stony cavern walls and causing the cave itself to shake. It was a rhyhorn - and one that seemed pretty pissed off for whatever reason too. But...that was aside from the point.
"Why would you...?" She breathed out slightly, her voice a rare, soft tone - she sounded genuinely confused. For a moment, she simply stared at the silvery haired man from where they were face to face, a rare look of nothing but shock on her face as her violet hues stared into his own. She hadn't yet registered their tangled limbs or closeness - or that she could feel his god damned heartbeat from how close they were. She was speechless - unsure what to say, unsure what to feel first...And then he spoke. She should've expressed her gratefulness - she should've said 'thank you' - or something. And maybe, deep down inside, she wanted to. Unfortunately, that emotions was quickly burned away by her embarrassment and irritation.
He had saved her. This...was unacceptable. She'd have been just a bloody stain underneath the rhino pokemon's foot had he not pushed her aside....And while, yes, she was a bit grateful - and yes, it made her pause and really consider that, 'hey, this guy isn't as much as a douche as I thought'
...It still pissed her off to no ends. And of course, she showed anger far better than she showed gratefulness.
"What the hell - I didn't need your help. Not now - not ever, so keep your damn 'heroics act' to yourself." She snapped harshly at the man, roughly pushing herself away from him so she could stand on her feet. Asta, who had been fretting over the possibility of his trainer being hurt, paused in his crying to stare up at her with big, teary eyes. He'd been outside the small boundary formed by the spiritomb, trying to keep the pissed off rhyhorn and equally angry kabuto away as well. The Rhyhorn itself had finally backed away, turning to face them, a single foot stomping on he ground several time, signifying it was ready to charge once more.
Already a bit frazzled from that...situation - and perhaps eager to prove {mostly to herself} that she was competent enough to not need saving - the idea of working together with the man was out of the picture. She'd solve this charging threat by herself. "Don't get in my way or I'll defeat you too," she snapped, stepping from out of the safety of the amalgamation, she stood to face their biggest adversary. "Asta, let's go!"
The battle...started off normal at first. Asta had used a crunch on the rhyhorn, which wasn't very effective against its tough hide, but, did cripple a bit in lowering its defense...The rhyhorn had charged, and the larvitar meant to jump out the way and counterattack with another crunch...but then that god damned bug happened. It, the kabuto, spat out a mudshot, obscuring not only the rhyhorn's view, but Asta's as well as it hit the both of them. In a matter of seconds, the larvitar was clinging onto the rhyhorn for dear life as the wild pokemon rampaged and charged about, roughly slamming its body against the cave walls in attempt to drive the larvitar off. It didn't help that the damn Kabuto kept shooting out mud shots either.
"Take care of the fucking bug!" Vivian shouted out at the other trainer, frustration at this stupid situation clear in her voice.

Well despite her reaction thankfully the girl was alright, when she asks "why?" he doesn't have much of an answer. He doesn't even know if he needs one, but he decides to stay silent in favor of making the situation more awkward... as if that were possible. Once she gets her bearings that attitude of the girl's returns almost immediately the woman making note to shove the man off of her Azad himself offering no resistance. Why he'd had that momentary lapse in judgement or failed to come up with even a response for his actions the man couldn't say, but now with his personal space having been returned to him the researcher had too many words for the reckless and cruel girl settling with, "Yeah, you're welcome." While the girl had managed to stave off injury for now it was apparent he hadn't himself. attempting to push himself up a fiery pain shot up the man's leg the researcher's eyes widened in pain. Pushing too hard on the foot prior had finally come back and bitten him as anyone could have guessed. He wouldn't be getting up for a minute at least not until he'd treated the injury appropriately. He'd pull himself to a wall Metang floating low now to help the man up. While he didn't appreciate how weak he looked there was no alternative, and so the man would give the steel pokemon an order resigned to the pokemon's help now, "Psychic." and so a blue aura would lift the trainer carefully setting him atop the Metang using the golem pokemon as a sort of seat since the man could no longer walk.
It was as the man finally settled himself that he was able to view the situation fully spiritomb remaining on standby defending the trainer and the steel type from any mud shots that came their way. Eyes would flit to the stampeding rhyhorn whose steps continued to shake the offshoot of the mountain before moving toward the kabuto who played a support role and the Larvitar barely hanging on to the bucking ground type. Just as bossy as she usually was the woman would order the researcher to do his part the man himself would swear under his breath at simply how chaotic the situation had become and the woman's continued recklessness. If they'd come up with a plan the battle would be over by this point, or at least it would be closer and more controlled. Even so there'd be time to argue and scream later (hopefully) for now he'd deal with the situation in front of him.
"Feint attack. The man offered a classic start for the ghost type pokemon the spiritomb appearing directly behind the kabuto slamming into it at least momentarily stopping the mud shot. While he'd definitely handle his side of the battle with the continuous shaking of the cavern thanks to the rampage his partner was trying to settle the researcher was becoming increasingly worried about what was happening and what would happen to the cavern.
The Kabuto in response to a focused enemy would now attempt to drain the wisp's health green bubbles appearing from it's mouth sucking bits and pieces of energy from the ghost type pokemon dealing slight damage to fairly healthy keystone. Another stomp from the ground pokemon once again draws his attention to the secondary battle before his eyes flit back to the kabuto. "...Feint attack again." And so the ghost type becoming a little more hesitant itself would slam into the fossil pokemon a second time dealing a more than fair amount of damage. As the battle continued tho something odd would begin to happen around the ghost type an aura of black energy had begun to form around the wisp pokemon as the battle progressed.
The kabuto now severely weakened would fire a final mud shot blinding the dark type saving itself for a moment longer, or at least so it thought the dark aura that seemed to be surrounding the spiritomb would expand and discharge in a circular radius the energy striking the fossil pokemon down leaving it unconscious. Amidst the chaos Azad would pull his pokedex scanning his own pokemon attempting to understand what happened the pokedex revealing the ghost type over the course of the journey had learned dark pulse. With the rumbling continuing the man would reveal an empty pokeball tossing it over the unconscious rock type if only to protect it if or at this point when the cave crumbled. As the ball rang the Metang would use psychic to retrieve the pokeball while Azad turned to watch the ongoing battle between the Larvitar and the rhyhorn.
"Varsus, Aros I don't trust this. Both of you serve as a wall to keep us safe if the cave collapses. Watch the ceiling for falling rocks." Despite the ghost's weariness the pokemon would watch the ceiling as Aros placed the his trainer carefully against the side of a wall behind the battling trainer. "Stay calm, and win." The man would attempt to be at least slightly supportive with situation worsening. Despite the chaos he wouldn't interfere with the girl's battle far too injured to deal with a third fight not to mention his pokemon were currently busy with the many other issues.
