[nospaces] [attr="class","Vgentempbox"] [attr="class","Vgentemptitle"]first round: solo performance! [attr="class","Vgentempdiv"] [break][break] The time of day was night, and the ceiling above the dome had just finished opening. The spectators, audiences, and viewers were all in awe--both home and those who were here live. The scenery above them was filled with a starlit sky, but among those stars came fireworks. It was all in celebration of welcoming those who were to be competing in this year's celebration. There were those who were here of their own goal, volition, some for others, and even those who simply wish to learn and shine like any other. The outcome of today's match-ups were unprecedented, anyone could come out on top. It just all depended on how exactly they performed. [break][break] The Solo Round was always the scariest, there were those who shined at it and others who did not. The competitors were all gathering behind the scenes, prepping their Pokemon and choice of clothing. The three judges sat before the stages upon a panel where, in front of them, there was a machinery that would calculate and tally each of the judges scoring per competitor. The three of them, talking amongst themselves, were definitely excited for what was to come. [break][break] As the fireworks began to calm down. Entering upon the center, concreted stage was Bluebell. "Hello, hello! How're you all doing today?! Are you ready to kick off the first contest of this year with a bang?!" She rose the mic and pointed it toward the crowd. "I know I am, haha!" She giggled, "Let's all try to remember that, win or lose, everyone here tonight will shine in their own way; some will make a name for themselves right here and now, whereas others will leave a mark on this stage so that you'll never forget their faces." Raising her hand into the air, she'd showcase a single finger, "Sadly, only one can take home tonight's ribbon and mark themselves as a target for future contests. I wouldn't wanna be them if I were you," Bluebell, once more, tittered at her comment. [break][break] "For tonight's first showcase we will start off with the Solo Performance. The Solo Performance, for those of you who're new to this world, is an act where each contestant will stand before the judges with one, or two, Pokemon at their side to showcase and create magic before them. By utilizing a Pokemon's technique, style, grace, and set of moves, the goal is to create a story as such! To tell us a tale as old as time, we want to see that story come to life through their work and bewitching performance! Isn't that right?!" The crowd roared with cheer in excitement and joviality. Bluebell was doing a great job riling them up.[break][break][break] "And now, without further ado, let's get this thing started with our first performance of the night, here are our contestants!" Each screen showed the faces of each contestant that were to be performing in tonight's contest. There Eleven Contestants, and but only four among them were capable of moving onward to the next round. Taking in a deep breath, Bluebell would call the first competitor, "Contestant Number One, let's get this show on the road!" The match would now start. [attr="class","Vgentempheader"]rules of the first round! Listen up, maggots. The fight for The Telltale Ribbon has begun. The first round is a Solo Performance, which is where you will conduct a performance that incorporates creativity with a Pokemon's moveset, as well as a Trainer's performance alongside that Pokemon. It's not about finding out what the theme is, but how well you work with what little information you have. Should you wow the judges with your performance and creativity, you'll definitely score more points. We'll also be judging on a few other details, but that's to be revealed during the feedback portion of the judges and what they were looking for/what they liked. ♥ [break][break] Now, onward to the rules: [break][break] - The First Round is a Solo Performance: Arceus, Alceides, Chelsea Wolfe, Eric Sutton, ROY CASE, april fallon, Kyle Lee, Mirai Soleil, ASHLEY LEE, Zatka Matrick, Jaye Canterhold.
- There is no posting order for who goes first, and who goes next.
- You all have from June 11th, 2018 to June 14th, 2018 to get your performance posts up. Should they not be up by then and you miss the deadline, you're automatically disqualified. June 15th, 2018 results will go up after everyone has posted. Happy role-playing! ♥

Post by ROY CASE on Jun 11, 2018 3:06:56 GMT -5
Everything in this contest hall smelled weird and Contestant Number One, Roy Case, was glad that he finally had the opportunity to get his performance over with so he could end the night. He didn’t have any nice clothes, so he really only had bothered to roll up his sleeves to his elbows, clutching the microphone some assistant shoved into his hand. He walked to the center of the stage, breathing deeply. After roughing up some dork in Tanba, he’d discovered that a fable was sort of like a fairy tale, and so Roy had skimmed through a few in preparation for his performance. He just wanted to get this part over with and get to battle stuff, but did his best not to show it.
“Once upon a time,” Roy cleared his throat. He ditched his mean, gruff voice for something a bit lighter and said, "Once upon a time," because that was how all these stories started. “There was a magnificent steed!”
He tossed his pokéball and it crackled to life, summoning his girafarig, Bedevil, onto the stage. Pent up and angry, the pokémon began running about, galloping in circles. But, Roy was relieved to see she was following instructions, and remembered to run backwards, the black head on her rear end chomping at the wind in its face. “Violent and infamous, the steed crushed mountains and frightened children, for she was rumored to be an agent of the black knight!”
Roy stole most of the details of the story from an author who’d gone to take a coffee break in Tanba’s library. He’d gotten down all the important parts and then asked a bunch of scrawny kids whether or not it was any good.
Bedevil sprinted straight towards Roy, though facing backwards, she ran smoothly, breaking the wind with a rough and tumble style. At the last moment, Roy jumped up and kicked off from Bedevil’s back, leaping high into the air with the microphone, they’d managed to almost synchronize their kicks with each other. Roy’s sent him into the air and Bedevil’s Stomp sent shards of stone scattering through the air. Roy landed and Bedevil continued galloping backwards. Back in Kogane, he and the Coldblood Crew would pull off the same stunt, running across moving cars just to annoy the drivers inside.
“Through the kingdom, many feared the steed, and almost everyone feared the black knight!” Bedevil noted her cue and made another charge from across the stage. “All! But, the prince!” Rack emerged from his pokéball, summoned by the subtle handiwork of a practiced thief. The croagunk took shape before Bedevil reached Roy, and when the Long Neck pokémon reared its legs for another Stomp, Rack took to the air with a jump that exceeded Roy’s. As he fell, his Poison Sting cast a violet streak against the night sky, before finally clashing against Bedevil’s black head and sending her off.
Roy had been meaning to test that move since they’d done something similar in the National Park. Once, practicing long into the night, he realized how it lit up against the sky, and thought it might go over well with all the prim and proper types in the seats.
“The handsome prince, had, at one time, been turned into a frog, as you can plainly see,” Roy explained. The gangster had taken this next line from another crew member that was insulting both himself and Rack when they’d failed to return from a raid. One of the scrawny kids helped him with the wording. After some discussion, he went from their bully to their student as the thirteen year-olds taught him about classic fairy tales. “That prince was meant to turn back into royalty when kissed by his true love, but, alas it was not a true love, but rather… well you can see it was more a Summer fling kind of relationship…”
Roy’s heart was beating so loud against his ear drums he didn’t hear if the joke had landed or not. He simply moved along to the next stage of their play. “Though unrecognizable to his kingdom, it was the prince’s duty to rid the land of all evil! He was so pure of heart, it was said by many that when he was born, no darkness could live within him, and it fled at the sight of his visage.” Roy still wasn’t crystal clear what ‘visage’ actually meant, but the nerds had given it the green light.
Bedevil ran from behind both Rack and Roy, lowering her black head as if to charge them with the miniature skull. Roy had trouble with this next part, and depended on Rack’s help. His Anticipation let him sense the charge without looking backwards, and once he’d gotten the timing right, he tapped his foot against the stone stage. Once… twice… Three times!
Roy and Rack jumped at the same time, both tumbling in opposite directions to avoid the charge. Bedevil galloped for a moments longer, spooking some of the patrons in the front row. But, a few meters shy of the patrons she stopped and bucked, bringing her hind legs high into the air. The trainer only knew she could do it because he’d been kicked upside the head enough times.
“The prince made it his quest to make pure the steed’s heart!” Roy narrated. He swept an arm towards the pair, who now strafed one another in a loop. Their suspense had gone over quite well with the fairy tale book club (which quickly included the author, as the teenagers and Roy himself wanted to speak with him directly to get some questions answered about the story’s plot) and so Roy let it hang for a few moments. “And, on a fateful Summer eve… they clashed!”
Rack’s Poison Sting connected against Bedevil’s Astonish, producing a strange combustion between the two attacks. They backed away and strafed each other once more, this time much closer. Again, they clashed, doing their best to perfectly match the other’s timing. The pair were especially good at this part, as Roy saw it as a great chance for the two party members to become friends. But, in actuality, it just deepened a tangible rivalry that was playing out on stage. For the third time, they clashed, but didn’t back away, strafing each other with only a few inches of separation.
“The prince was determined to clean the steed’s soul, and claim the beast for himself!” Their strafing quickened, until they were practically sprinting in a circle for a moment, “Soon enough, the prince found pureness of the steed.” Rack stopped at this verbal cue, catching Bedevil’s true head. “He was shocked to find that he could not separate this light from the dark!” Bedevil reared up and crashed back down cracking the stage and forcing Rack to roll backwards in evasion.
“Our prince,” Roy changed the introduction of the story’s protagonist. The author claimed it was a way of drawing the audience into the story. The man was peeved about his story being stolen, but mentioned something about a ‘good kid deserving it.’ Roy didn’t have the stomach to explain that the good, nerdy kids he’d recruited weren’t benefiting from the book club, and that, in fact, he couldn’t quite put together why they were helping him. “was astounded! This beast seemed to live in both light and darkness. Perhaps she was not better off for it, but she was free and wild, and the Prince lost the heart to break her.”
During that narration, Rack watched Bedevil run the perimeter of the stage. She’d run a length forwards, and then spin around on her hooves to run backwards, but in the same direction a flipping trick that Roy was sure exhausted the girl. “The steed escaped into that evening,” Roy said, timing the line with the moment that Bedevil ran by him, so he could easily return the girl to her pokéball for a well deserved rest.
“Unsure of what to make of the steed, our prince still knew that the black knight needed to be conquered, and so he trekked to his dark hideout, a grave hole that led underground,” Rack approached the crater that Bedevil had created with her first Stomp, looking down into the destruction as if it were a long tunnel. “As far as our prince knew, the two had never crossed paths. But, according to every account, the black knight was a warrior just as formidable as the prince. Unknown to him, they’d both been very close at a certain point in their lives. But, this secret wasn’t made clear until midnight.
“From the shadows of the cave, came that black knight!” Rack used his Feint Attack and a shadow appeared from the small crater, one that perfectly resembled the croagunk, but disappeared after a few moments had passed between them. Roy raised the tempo of his narration. The book club relentlessly reminded him how important the climax of a story could be. “Our villain blended with shadows, fading in and out of the night's darkness,” Rack repeatedly used his Feint Attack, clashing with the shadow that represented this black knight.
Roy swallowed deep, “For five days and nights the two clashed with one another, incessantly fighting with no end in sight,” he narrated the ongoing shadowboxing, parroting the erudite words the club had written for him. He was still baffled by most of what he was saying, but the erudite vocabulary of the first few drafts were almost a completely different language, and he hadn’t been booed off the stage just yet.
“The only break in their duel came with the reemergence of the steed!” Her pokéball rolled slyly into the crater, Bedevil seemed to appear from the ‘tunnel.' “Both the black knight and our prince did all they could to convince this mighty monster to fight for them, sure that the steed could break their stalemate.”
Bedevil strode between Rack and a version of the shadow that was being maintained by Rack’s Feint Attack, repeatedly used to keep up the illusion, at a great physical tax to the Toxic Mouth pokémon. “But, the steed already knew what they did not,” Roy explained, and Bedevil bent at her knees lowering herself down to their level gently, still standing between them. Together, Rack and his shadow straddled the girafarig, the shadow facing the same side as the black head. Rack faced away from the shadow, relieved to be off his feet for a change.
“Both sides of our prince ride both sides of the great steed as one!” Roy explained, and Bedevil continued her laps around the stage, flipping every so often, and carrying a near unconscious croagunk on her back. “Some say they did good until the last of their days, while others still recount the horrors of our prince and his steed. They lived a life most complicated, and true to themselves. And for that reason, they were happily ever after.”
Bedevil charged from behind Roy once more, the last stunt of their show, Roy jumped off her once more, this time landing towards the center of the stage with a bow. He gestured towards his pokémon, for the both of them to do the same. As quickly as he could manage, he took off from the stage, too anxious to gauge any definitive response from the crowd. Instead, the trio escaped backstage and collapsed in a messy heap with one another.
Before succumbing to nerves and exhaustion and falling into a sleep, Roy only thought of how badly he wanted a nice and simple battle to take the place of that horror show.

[attr="class","Darlingpostdiv"] [attr="class","Darlingpost"] Tanba city bustled even more than usual; the presence of the first annual contest added to that, and the community made sure to take advantage of the golden opportunity. Shops and vendors posted both inside and outside the vicinity, hoping to snag a few extra dollars from the unsuspecting spectators, who most willingly paid the boosted prices. [break][break] Haruka, as well as many, --if not all the other contestants, had been within the confines of the large stadium since earlier that afternoon. Sound checks, costume arrangements, special effects; these were all mandatory preparations made before the starting hour. And at long last, with fireworks glistening in the sky above them, it was time. [break][break] As the MC for the event, Bluebell did her mandatory introduction, only setting fire to the hearts of every viewer and participator in the contest hall. You could say she did a job well done. [break][break] Sitting backstage, Haruka faced her partners; a trembling Kirlia, and a rather serious Riolu. Hime was nervous but still seemed excited, while Kishi was rather indifferent about having to perform. The girl summed it up to the fact that Kishi just was not aware as to what a contest was about, despite practicing with Hime and Haruka for the past week. [break][break] “Okay you two,” she said taking one of their hands into each of her own, “We have worked hard this week just for this moment. Just don’t forget what you learned, and remember not to get scared by each other’s moves. We practiced so that we wouldn’t get hurt,” she finished, aware of how startling and scary seeing another pokemons moves up close could be. [break][break] Reaching into her nearby bag, she pulled out a small designed cape to drape around the riolu’s shoulders. It was a gift from her mom after Haruka called her about the contest, and she even had made something for Hime, -- a crown of flowers similar to the one that Haruka wore at the moment. Kishi fiddled with the cape, uneasy about its weight on his back while the trainer fastened the crown atop of her Kirlia. [break][break] It was almost time for the three of them to head out, and she opted to not use her pokeballs for their showcase, knowing that she didn’t have any of the effect balls. Only experienced contest participants used them as they were hefty in price, and quite hard to make. So she had to make due. The prior performance had ended, and it was finally time for them to step up onto the stage. With a smile, she put her right foot forward, her two partners following behind her as they traversed onto the dimly lit stage. [break][break] “Now entering the stage, we have Haruka Birch and her two partners, Hime and Kishi!” [break][break] The spotlight turned on, illuminating the image of the trio as they stood still. Their faces were void of any expression as they waited for the music to start. Instead of addressing her audience, the trainer opted to just let their actions do the talking. What kind of story were they trying to tell with their performance? Was it a tale of love and hardship? Was it a song of heroism? Honestly she was unsure on the answer, only knowing that her pokemons emotions could only be carried so far. But she hoped that they could all entrance the audience with their dance. [break][break] The first chord echoed in their ear, the lighting shifting from the bright yellow to a more calming blue and purple tone. They breathed in sync, waiting for the upcoming cue, not moving an inch from their beginning poses. [break][break] “Kirlia use magical leaf,” Haruka calmly cue’d, the pokemon already carrying out its instruction without hesitation. From her, a vortex of the green leaves traveled around them at a rapid pace before reaching a peak, and softly falling from their height. Kirlia’s flashy moves and techniques were the key to this trio’s performance, while the other two would provide back up however they could. [break][break] As expected, the music transitioned, giving way to the Kirlia who was the first to move. With her frame and natural elegance, it was no surprise that she could so easily mimic the movements of a experienced ballerina. She moved from a cross, one of her hands sweeping out to be taken in by the awaiting Riolu. [break][break] “Hime use Psychic,” she said, the Riolu noticing another instruction as it helped by tossing the Kirlia into the air, the small pokemon spinning as it produced the effect, her psychic power shattering each leaf into soft shiny particles. [break][break] Though a performance is coordinated by a trainer, it was still a pokemon performance, and as such, the spotlight was on them as they danced. In parallel unison the two twirled as Haruka tried her best to accent their dance, her own dance movements being fluid at best, but still weak in comparison to that of an expert. [break][break] Catching Hime, the Riolu carried on with their scripted routine, taking the hand of the Kirlia into his and spinning her in and out elegantly. “Okay Hime, use Charm, and Kishi use Copycat.” she said softly, her eyes following the pokemon as she continued to dance. [break][break] With the use of copy cat, Kishi was able to copy the move Psychic, circling around as the Kirlia used Charm to produce a pink aura and manifested heart shapes. Taking those shapes with his new Psychic ability, Kishi moved the effect to encircle around them. They pulsed on time with the music before dispersing due to the interference of Kishi’s next move. “Swords Dance.” [break][break] From the Riolu, a dozen manifested swords appeared, encompassing the trio and rotating around them, piercing the hearts before being raised. For a theatrical appearance, her Riolu kneeled, much like that of a real knight, and the swords clashed above it’s head dramatically. [break][break] Hime twirled around the steadfast Riolu, stopping on his side before placing a soft hand on its shoulder. This was a dramatic depiction, and the Riolu continued to stay in his position. Now time for the grand finale. “Dazzling Gleam, Hime,” Haruka chimed as the music was peaking. The small fairy type nodded with affirmation before glowing with light and color, outshining even the spotlight and allowing Kishi and Haruka to get into their final poses. [break][break] As the move dissipated, Kishi had taken the Kirlia’s hand as if it was pledging itself to the fairy pokemon, and Haruka held her head low with her hands raised at her sides like she was diverting all attention to her pokemon. [break][break] The spotlight faded, leaving them standing on the dimly lit stage to await the audience’s reaction. Her heart raced, her mind a foggy mess as she bowed before moving to step off the stage. Her performance was over for now.

★ Shut up and dance with me. The word for tonight was magical. Zatka played with his white tie a bit anxiously awaiting his turn on the stage. They only had yesterday to really practice with the full props. He'd spoken with the effects people and he would have his giant white screen and light. He had to do all the effects himself, however. When the dome opened to reveal the night sky the only thing going through his head was perfect.
"Next is Zatka Matrick and his partners Flynn and Flash," the announcer said and he stepped into full view of the crowd sending heart pumping as he carried Flynn and Flash walked at his heels. He gave a proper bow both to judges and the audience.
"Thank you," he said into the mic letting it die down. "Tonight is a special night. Not just us but for everyone. I do hope we dazzle everyone and that our story brings dreams of happily ever after into your beds tonight."
With that he stepped back the trio making their way for the screen as the lights dipped low. All that could be seen for a moment was the darkness and the stars. The crowds whispered as they wondered what was going to happen. Then the screen lit up and there in the center was Flash.
"Fire and water had never mixed well. Even more so for this young pokemon. His life filled was with tragedy and it all started with water yet it also brought him happiness," Zatka began telling the tail. His hands moving to keep the props going even as the cyndaquil before him acted out the scenes.
"This will be fun. You'll see," a young man said patting his cyndaquils head. The large ship before them filling with people. Scared and excited the cyndaquil was simply happy to experience something new with his trainer.
They spent the first day exploring the ship together. The pair racing one another down the halls of the ship as they learned where everything was. A simple joy in each wobbly step as they got used to the movement of the ship. On the second day, they relaxed enjoying the open oceans sun and warmth. It was the third day when tragedy struck a storm kicking up and forcing everyone below the decks.
It was then Vash struck the metal sheet and looked to Flynn. She used rain dance and the scene became all the more dreary. Flash keeping up his fire but it flickered and sizzled with each raindrop. Casting long shadows that forewarned of the tragedy to come.
"It's okay Cinder," the young man said unable to hide his own fright. The rocking ship feeling suddenly too dangerous for comfort. They remained huddled together in their cabin for what felt like forever. Until yells reached their ears from the halls. The pair looking to one another worryingly before moving towards the door. The next words they hear making their blood run cold.
"The ships sinking!"
With little knowledge of what to do the boy opened the door in a rush. The pair nearly being trampled by other panicked people. He grabbed up his cyndaquil worried for his safety as he hugged the wall. Feeling himself crushed time and time again by moving bodies as people tried to walk the tilting ship. The stairs were in sight when the ship tipped dangerously to one side.
The people pressed together struggled to free their limbs to struggle to continue moving forward. The young man begged those in front of him to pass his pokemon forward to safety. The cyndaquil clawing at his boy not wanting to leave him. His reassurences falling on the cyndaquils deaf ears as it cried for its trainer as it was snatched away. Push and pulled forward his body was covered in a damp blanket as he was handed upwards towards the lifeboat.
Vash quickly pushed the clear forty gallon tank into the scene. The ship disappearing off to one side as the scene transitioned. It was heavy but it had to be done and he'd be damned if he'd let his small frame ruin their show.
"Yells filled his ears and before he knew it he was in the water. Struggling against the wet blanket as it started to drag him down. His fire could not help him and he was about to give up when the blanket fell away and he floated upwards. The cyndaquil sputtering as he broke the surface only to get a mouth full of salty water. He cried out struggling against the waves. Unable to see in the darkness what had happened to the ship or his human.
His paws beat at the water struggling to stay afloat as he was pushed farther and farther away from what he knew. As though by the mercy of the god itself his paws touched something solid. He clambered onto its wooden surface panting and trying to wipe water from his eyes so he could see. It was half a wooden deck chair the planks holding together strongly while water licked at him through the slats.
No one was in sight, nothing was. He looked up at the deep grey sky the clouds rolling above him were steadily getting lighter. He dug his claws into the boards as he laid his head down exhausted and unable to cope with the idea his trainer just might be dead.
When next he woke he felt the sun. His fur was matted with salt and his throat felt like sandpaper. The sea had calmed and he was left alone and adrift. He tried calling out for anyone and all he managed was a squeak. He turned his head to the water remembering its taste from last night. He was so thirsty but couldn't drink it. He began trailing his paws in the water wondering if he was going to die.
It was a splash that brought him to. A questioning blue face meeting the cyndaquils own. The finneon had never seen a fire type before. Let alone one that could float in the ocean. She circled his little island giving questioning noises. He was unable to answer though as he plopped back down making his own noise of despair.
It wasn't hard to realize his thirst as he tried to slop together some saliva and failed. The finneon told him to open his mouth the fire type too weak to argue opened it half-way mindlessly. A burst of water entering his maw. He slopped his mouth together realizing it wasn't salty. He cast her a questioning glance and she simply had him open his mouth again. He wanted something to drink so badly he complied drinking the water she shot from her mouth with vigor.
With some of his energy returned he was able to tell her his tale. His head drooping as he thought of his trainer. Convinced she couldn't leave him alone or he'd die she promised to help take him to land. Thus began their journey.
Many days passed with her giving him water and sea weed. While he didn't like the taste it filled his belly and kept him alive. As they floated there across those endless waves with nothing or no one else in sight the two became close. So when she went missing for an entire day he was infinitely worried.
He paced his small island calling for her to no avail. He sat down trying to wait for her but stood back up ready to call again when his wooden island rocked. He paused looking into the water seeing dark shapes move beneath the surface. Their fins slowly coming up to cut at the water. Suddenly scared he huddled in the middle doing his best to remain unseen. The sound of wood breaking reached his ears as one came up biting his island home. It spun with the force and he looked to the place where a chunk had been taken out. Splinters falling into the waters below.
For hours they circled the sharpedos taking a few more bites before determining what floated in their waters was unedible. Night fell and he was wide awake. His eyes searching the waters for his unseen attackers. Waiting for them to come finish the job. When a friendly blue face showed up though he began crying. Part of him having worried they had eaten her.
She apologized several times before hopping onto the wooden slats to comfort him. She looked to the stars deciding she wanted to show him something special. She nibbled at his wrist trying to pull his paws from his eyes. Finally she told him to look up and he did. The stars shined brightly in the sky. It was pretty but he didn't know what she wanted him to see.
Without warning the whole place lit up with color. Vash had motioned to Flynn to release her aurora beam straight up. The beam going from black and white to a dazzling array of color as it passed the top of the screen. The darkness from the lack of light everywhere else only seeming to amplify its colors.
"It was unlike anything the cyndaquil had ever seen before. It was indeed beautiful. She asked if he could to anything like it. So he spat out a few embers. The small flames arching into the water after a moment. She smiled and told him she wanted to see more. It was that night the cyndaquil felt love. The pair taking turns lighting up their little island in the night.
It was but two days later that land came into sight. Their journey over as he collapsed into the sand welcoming the feeling of solid land even as his body still wobbled with the motion of the ocean. He looked back into the waves seeing her friendly but sad face. This was goodbye for them both.
The screen raised as the lights came back on. The cyndaquil hopping down to stand in a sandbox while the other half was filled with water that Flynn plopped herself into. The pair looking at one another sadly to keep up appearances even as their trainer walked around center stage.
"This was goodbye," Vash said and started approaching the crowd. "You young lady would you mind. You and your mother."
He brought down a little girl from the audience putting her center stage with her mother. He handed her the microphone and bent down telling her what to say.
"Look mommy," the girl said twisting her form as she spoke in nervousness.
"Oh my, my dear he looks hurt," her mother said bending down to speak into the microphone.
"Can we keep him mommy,"the little girl asked. Vash motioned her to approach the cyndaquil that looked up at her with big eyes.
"I'm not sure dear,"her mother said and the little girl picked up Flash at Vash's silent request. "But he definitely needs help. Let's take him to the pokecenter and we'll see from there." Vash motioned them away from center stage.
"Everyday she returned," Vash said motioning to the finneon. "Hoping to catch a glimpse of him and know he was alright. That he had become happy. And for many days she didn't see him."
He motioned them back center stage the girl grinning as she rushed back over Flash in her arms. "Yet one day he did return with his new family. And while they enjoyed the beach he looked out into those waves looking to see her friendly face." Flynn popped her head out of the water with a gentle smile.
It was all that needed to be said as the cyndaquil returned her smile. Their act finally over with those last few actions. Vash motioned mother and daughter back to their seats before taking a bow with his pokemon. Hoping his narration and the performance pleased the judges. He returned the pair and headed off stage.

He was finally in the mindset that someone should be in when they entered their first contest, only slightly mired down by the most recent of events. For all he knew, all of the people participating could have been involved, but the world had passed by him, kind of oddly, lately. For a while, he didn't even care about the upcoming contest and truly considered skipping it. What kind of world loses their Contest Queen, and a Gym Leader at that, and still moves forward? That was how he felt, at first, until he had gained encouragement from his Pokemon to continue moving forward. Day by day, until finally he stepped outside with them and began to train. He changed his mind all of a sudden, quickly deciding that he would enter the contest for Annie - to show her, and the world, that she didn't make a mistake when she spotted talent within him. He didn't care much for figuring out the meaning behind the theme, he had his own interpretation they had worked on. Deciding on members was the greatest issue, he had too many cute Pokemon ready to showcase both talent and beauty! But Aipom was the one who had battled with him inside of the tower, and the one who had helped lean toward his decision to become a coordinator in general. The next choice, Ophiuchus, was because of how dazzling she was when they had met. He had been enraptured by her beauty, so much so that he immediately captured her and began training her as a powerhouse. The two created an odd, though in his opinion, irresistible union. The acts that had preceded him had been...wonderful, simply beyond words. The first participant even told a story that his Pokemon re-enacted, melding together gracefully. The next utilized two pokemon of opposing types to come together and, honestly, it seemed like they had a lot of fun. That helped ease his nerves when the third contestant went way further - he used a fire and a water type! The combinations they made, especially with the Rain Dance, were so incredibly genius that the boy was astounded...but then it was his turn. "Now introducing, Alceides Belmont and his partners Aipom and Seviper!" Taking a deep breath, he took the stage and immediately was overcome with the urge to stop and head back. There were way too many eyes on the stage, way too many eyes on the trio. Momo giggled, wrapping her tail around his leg and pulling him forward causing the Seviper to do the same until they were dead center. He didn't want to admit it, but they were right. They just had to go out there and do what they practiced repeatedly. "Alright, let's set a scene they won't soon forget!" he cried, truly attempting to increase their, and his own, morale as the Aipom and the Seviper moved to stand opposite of one another. Aipom swiped her tail diagonally into space upper diagonal from her, sending forth a multitude of golden stars that assimilated to form a large one. Meanwhile, Seviper had taken a deep breath and released a steady spray of flames that engulfed the star and, with the provided moonlight, gave off an incredible glow. With their 'sun' set, Aipom leaped toward the Seviper who, utilizing her tail, flung the monkey toward the burning star. Smashing it with her tail, it created a meteor shower of stars that fell across the stage. Laughing with his Pokemon, finally feeling the groove of everything, he could order his Pokemon more confidently. This wasn't about him, after all, it was how well he could make them shine. He didn't want them to be held back just because he was struck with indecision. He wanted everyone to see them shine as brightly as they did to him, and hoped that they began to feel a bit of the same as they told their story with the stars falling around them. "Ophiuchus, use Sludge Bomb! Aipom, use Shadow Ball!" This time each of them created an orb out of energy with a similar dark hue, tossing the balls at one another as they collided. The result caused dark wisps to fall around, their colors causing the monkey and snake to blend in. The purple from the Sludge Bomb hid Momo while the black from the Shadow Ball worked similarly for Ophiuchus. Aipom was mostly bouncing around happily, laughing as she twirled through the dark aftermath. Ophiuchus, on the other hand, had stuck to jumping into the wisps and twirling with fervor before landing on her tail and repeating. The two were having so much fun, that he couldn't help but chuckle too. The last time he had enjoyed such a fun contest-like event was with Annie and now she was missing, striking him with a pang of anger that he shoved down for the moment. She was part of the reason he was doing this, she had a part in the darkness of the story he was trying to tell. "Alright, Ophiuchus prepare your Flamethrower," he announced with the snake taking a deep breath gathering flames at her core, Momo dashing forward and beginning to spin, "Momo, now use Sand-Attack!" This move had been sloppily started back when he battled Anastasia, worked on in the forest against several fighting types, and then perfected following the announcement of the contest. A small tornado formed around the monkey, made of sand, that she then shot forward toward the Seviper. Expelling the wealth of flames within her gut, the sand was instantly reduced into a cloud of falling shards that would set the mood for their final performance. Taking a step forward, a lump in his throat prevented him from moving forward. The nerves had finally caught up to him, along with the fear that he had caused misfortune to the ones he looked up to due to his impertinent thinking. But, glancing at the two partners at his side, he didn't want them to be unhappy because of him. They were smiling, laughing, they were having a great time! This is what they were meant to do, what he wanted to do, he had already started! Why bother with jitters now? Flinging off any further inhibitors, the trio moved to initiate their final combination. In similar positions to how they started, except the two pokemon were swapped, Momo was the first to act. Alceides' Aipom began to create the large star once more, sending the array of stars with Swift while Seviper concentrated on gathering energy. The star grew until it was the same size as before, sending Seviper slinking forward Alceides had Momo use her hand-like tail to catapult the Seviper up into the air with the snake wrapping her tail around the monkey at the last minute. The two ascended in the air, Ophiuchus tossed Momo up higher while she released a Dark Pulse. The dark aura radiated around the snake and smashed into the star - dying it black. "Bring it home, Momo, use Ice Punch!" the boy instructed, glacial energy forming at the fist her tail had formed before smashing into the star. Ophiuchus had landed first, Alceides running to catch her in his arms. Once he did, she wrapped her body around his left arm and shoulder. The Ice Punch froze the dark star and then it shattered into thousands of pieces - the whole sight reminiscent of Winter. Obsidian snowflakes began to fall around the trio, glittering from the pure white and the pure black. Bowing, uncomfortable with any applause, the boy rushed off the stage. He was desperate to get some air, relief filling his body when he was outside. Gazing wistfully toward the sky as he pictured a certain coordinator, he sighed. "I hope I made you proud, Annie!" Now he just had to make it to the next round, and if he didn't, at least he could say he finally had a fun, first contest experience! @tag // Notes: -- // word count: 1333 MADE BY NOVA

Post by Mirai Soleil on Jun 13, 2018 4:00:25 GMT -5
♦♦♦♦ ♦♦♦♦ This was it. The big night they had been waiting for. Backstage Mirai was sitting by herself eyes closed and visualizing their routine over and over. They must have practiced dozens of times in the past couple of weeks. When they announced the theme for the evening a while back she had to sort through quite a number of routines they had that would fit, figuring out which would work best with only a few adjustments. She also had to take into consideration who she would bring along to perform. The key holding their performance together was Floatzel. She long promised herself that her oldest trusted partner would be up there with her in their first foray into the Contest world. The rest followed after that, and in the end she decided to go with her new shining star, Mawile. Of course being the perfectionist that she was, Mirai's outfit that day was also something else. She had designed it herself, using the best of her fashion ability and with a bit of her science background too for a little trick she would reveal later. The image she was going for was a cool sorceress of ice with a slightly frozen heart. Crystal accents and accessories dotted the dark blue dress. She also had a staff made with a crystal ornament at the tip. Capping off the look was a crystal tiara/headdress that contrasted beautifully with her own blue hair. Compared to her flashy attire, what her partners for the evening wore were a little more subdued. Floatzel had a dark blue scarf with light blue crystal accents at the end. Meanwhile Mawile had a red jeweled accessory on his forehead and pink bow on his back that gave off the impression of tiny butterfly wings. The reason for this was that their performance involved them getting in pretty close contact with the moves and combinations they would use and so any extravagant accessories would only get in the way and make it more difficult to move around. And so they went with the bare minimum to stand out and complement their appearance for the show. Mirai finally opened her eyes upon hearing the contestant right before them announced. It was about time she headed out in preparation for their turn. Floatzel was quite focused and had this serious expression on her face. She had been training the longest for this and knew Mirai was relying on her a lot to execute her part perfectly. Of course she was a little nervous, but that's how it was for everyone even the most experienced performers. But she had faith and confidence in the hard work they had put in. Mawile was looking quite solemn as well. A huge bribe of a sweets buffet was on the line for a flawless performance that evening and the Deceiver Pokemon's motivation was at its peak. He wasn't going to forgive himself if he made a mistake, and more so if he made a fool of himself. While he didn't want to admit it, he also respected all the effort Mirai had put into this and so he resolved to do his share as best as he could. No further words were shared between them as they stood waiting for their name to be called and announced. Mirai had already said everything she wanted to say to her partners that night. All that was left was to execute. "Contestant Number Five, now entering the stage! It's Mirai Soleil and her lovely partners, Floatzel and Mawile!"
The lights dimmed and the hall had gone quiet. There would be no words in the performance that evening. Everything that would go on stage was practiced according to the music and signal cues from Mirai's actions. Slowly and gently the instrumental began to play. It was a ballad. A slow dance. The first spotlight opened up and focused on Mawile taking playful steps forward and adding twirls according to the beat of the melody. Far on the opposite side of the stage a second spotlight would shine on Mirai whose own dance seemed to be a more graceful variation of Mawile's. Her movements were smaller and less lively. The expression on her face was a combination of calm and slightly pained, as part of the act. She would occasionally make pronounced glances in Mawile's direction as if projecting feelings of longing while being held back by something in her heart. As the music approached the chorus, a third spotlight would shine, this time illuminating Floatzel who was positioned between the two. She would dance her way through the floor approaching Mirai and the two would eventually match their steps like partners. Floatzels movements were much sharper though and she would glance in the direction of Mawile's playful dance projecting expressions of annoyance and jealousy. As the music went on, Mawile's dance and Mirai's would begin to approach. With the end of the chorus, Floatzel would step forward, between the two as though preventing them from meeting. The Sea Weasel Pokemon would conjure a Whirlpool, surrounding Mawile. The Deceiver Pokemon feigned panic but continued move according to the music that suddenly shifted to a graver tone projecting the feeling of peril. Exhibiting Floatzel's masterful control, the spiraling water spread out forming a distinct shape, like a flower. As the melody approached a crescendo the Sea Weasel Pokemon would then proceed to create a second Whirlpool, this time surrounding Mawile even more closely, like a flower bud. Once she was satisfied with the shape, she would bite at the source of the water current with Ice Fang, flash freezing the entire formation into a crystalline flower with Mawile "trapped" inside. The music would come to a pause and Mirai would feign expressions of shock and disbelief as she gripped her staff tightly. The melody would then resume with a sadder tune as the blue-haired coordinator would now dance around the crystal flower projecting feelings of sorrow and regret, as she stole glances at the poor "frozen" Mawile. Meanwhile Floatzel would continue to match her steps and pace, as though trying to "console" her. After a stanza went by, there would by a slight change in the tone of the music. Each movement was punctuated by a playful note before resuming the melancholic melody. With each punctuation however, there would be a brief glow and spark coming from Mawile inside the crystal flower. He was using Charge Beam. The first spark caused a "petal" from the crystal flower to break off and gently shatter. The second spark would cause two to break off, and so on and so forth. On the fifth spark, the "bulb" itself would shatter and Mawile would break free, flying high up with Magnet Rise. The tone of melody would suddenly shift to something triumphant and jovial as Mirai would gaze up in awe. Floating in the air, Mawile would spin, filling the stage with Fairy Wind and catching the ice particles in the air and causing them to glimmer and sparkle. It was at this point that the science trick Mirai added to her dress would come to light as when she came in contact with the cold ice fragments, a reaction to the temperature would cause her dress to change from its previous dark blue to a bright pink. Mirai herself would adjust her dance steps so something more playful and fitting to the current mood of the music. The expression on face would change to a warm hopeful smile as though a heavy weight had been lifted from her heart. Mawile would fly a couple of laps around the stage with Magnet Rise, maintaining his Fairy Wind while occasionally releasing sparks with Charge Beam to cause the ice particles to glimmer. Meanwhile Floatzel "remorseful" would join Mirai in her new dance and eventually end up with a warm smile of her own. The pair danced in the middle of Mawile's Fairy Wind circle as the spotlight focused on them. For the finale, Floatzel took several steps to the left of the stage as Mawile finally floated to a halt above the right side of the stage. Spinning, the Sea Weasel Pokemon unleashed a barrage of stars with Swift while Mawile responded with Charge Beam. The two attacks collided behind Mirai creating explosions of sparkles and clearing away the wind and ice fragments as Mirai herself posed at the center, raising her staff to match their timing. The lights dimmed once more and the music came to an end. The spotlight would reappear seconds later with Mirai and her partners standing side by side, their performance over. With the cold ice gone, her dress had reverted back to its previous dark blue shade. The team, smiling, bowed amidst the audience's applause and then exited the hall to return backstage and make way for the next contestant.

[attr="class","smdbody"] the lights were gradually dimmed until they were placed on their lowest possible setting. silence fell upon the contest hall's spacious interior, and those whom occupied the vast seating area would lower their voices respectfully as they strained their ears and eyes. the area where the performance would take place revealed very little at the moment, with both the fighter and her respective companions covered in a thick layer of shadow.
"just like we practiced, queen. and remember, listen for the bells. they'll help you with your timing."
the brunette's voice was hushed as she crouched before the fairy, her gaze shifting to and fro, having detected the eyes of the crowd as they attempted to pinpoint the her and her companions location.
"you too, jester. you know what to do."
after she recieved quiet murmurs of acknowledgement, ash would hurry to distance herself and carefully slip out of view; for her pokemon were to be the absolute focal point of this particular performance.
"m-mawile."
queen released a quiet breath, tipped her head back, and forced herself into a relax state of being. the mawile's partner would then offer her a gentle nudge forward, indicating that it was time for her to take her place. and after a moment, she would, hurrying to situate herself at the stage's very center. several tense seconds would come and go before a spotlight was snapped on, the thin beam of light revealing the mawile to all.
"..."
the pokemon was covered in a pale blue dress, with a pink bow carefully secured 'round the horn that connected to her secondary maw. it was a purposefully simple garb, only meant to add to her dainty appearance - not distract from it.
"maw..."
the steel-type tipped her head back, her eyes lazily falling shut. queen's paws were then clasped together in prayer, her expression remarkably serene.
"mawile."
her voice was barely that above a whisper.
"mawile!"
the mawile's mouth fell open as the music began to play, her arms spreading wide. a light blue glow encased her form entirely as she discreetly utilized the move of 'iron defense' to lend her an ethereal appearance. and as the music continued, and the main female vocals began to ring out, the fairy would trigger 'misty terrain'. it spread from her in thick waves as she carefully took one step and then another. the spotlight faded, and the light generated from the conjured mist would be all that remained.
for those whom were observing her, it appeared as though queen was walking within the heavens, her body encased with a barely there blue and her dress swaying gently as she moved 'round her custom made environment and danced. queen played the part of a pure spirit, and would step daintily here and there, drawing the attention of the crowd as she did so. the bells insistent chimes would alert her that she was to execute 'fairy wind', the conjured winds summoned by her tight pirouettes and the sweeping gestures of her arms. pink and blue would mix until they were thoroughly combine and cause the stage to sparkle and shine as both moves were carefully laced together as one.
and as she danced and played within the conjured mist and winds, a looming figure would fade into view. the zoroark's 'illusion' ability was a curious thing with a near infinite amount of uses. and for this event, it would be used to deceive the crowd and make jester appear to be far larger than he actually was. his shape was immense and encased by shadow as he acted out the part of a darker and an infinitely more malicious being. his eyes were astonishingly white, and he used 'night slash' to allow for his claws to glow a frightening shade of crimson. his teeth would flash into a terrible grin as he prowled toward the seemingly unsuspecting figure of the beautiful fairy.
the fox would step closer and closer, only for his form to seamlessly transform before the crowd's very eyes. jester took on the shape of a mawile, a smug look upon his face as he stepped closer to his quarry. the male vocals of the song would begin, and queen would visibly startle before turning sharply toward the disguised jester. the male would invitingly extend a paw, executing an elegant bow before leading the female into dance. they fell into step with one another, circling and grasping each other's paws. and while queen appeared to be cautious, at first, she began to gradually relax within the male's presence as they continued to move together as as one. it wouldn't be long before she smiled as what appeared to be a male mawile rested a hand upon her hip and continued to lead her in dance.
and as the moved, darkness would begin to seep into the misty terrain, wisps of purple mingling and intertwining itself with the previously conjured energy. the fox's subtle illusory executions were accompanied by ripples of shadow that would originate from his very feet as he moved and added to the mist's already pre-existing taint by use of 'night daze'. queen kept her gaze fixed upon her partner, ignoring all the warning signs in favor of focusing solely upon him as they circled one another. the 'misty terrain' would be visibly affected by jester's presence, taking on a sickly sheen as it transformed from a pretty blue and pink to a distinctively dark shading of purple.
jester would begin to gradually change as the dance began to grow more intense, his eyes changing first to a curious shade of crimson - and his forming morphing in a frightening grotesque manner before he reclaimed his original shape as a zoroark. queen would flinch away, her expression reflecting her feigned shock before she made an attempted to retreat - only for her paw to be grabbed harshly by jester as she was tugged closer. he would continue to lead them in dance, his slender form encircling her as his claws dug gently into her waist and arm. his claws glowed crimson as he threatened her with his power, his teeth bared in a grin, and his form growing larger and larger before her very eyes.
the mawile would recoil once he finally released her from his hold, her eyes wide as she backpedaled took the entirety of him in. and he would raise his claw before she was granted the opportunity to flee, waving it toward her with malicious intent, the corrupted terrain appearing to fall under his command as it sought to swallow her up. it fell upon her in a thick wave of darkness before fading immediately after. queen had activated 'iron head' in the precious few seconds of cover that she had been allowed, and was presented to the crowd as a frozen statue covered in an iron sheen. jester's form would quiver, his face visibly reflecting his delight over the fairy's unfortunate fate before he spread his claws out and reached forward to grasp at the statuesque figure of his new toy before the lights abruptly flicked off.
the story that was told would not have a good ending, for the dark spirit had captured the one of light and had taken her as his very own - forever.

| I loved you[break]now I'm on my own[break]I want to deceive you |
Jaye, for someone who had never performed before, was nicely dressed. His suit reminiscent of the woods of old times. Gold littering the outsides of his suit and the jacket that he wore on his back almost like a cape. The man was standing in the darkness, waiting for the signal for him to go onto the stage. The blonde held a small woven book within his hands - listening quietly to the crowd making noise out there. He’d never felt stage fright and was glad that was the case. As he took in a deep breath he only hoped his tale went smoothly. The well dressed man was beckoned to the stage making him walk out and listen to the clicking of his boots against the stage. Standing with a spotlight on him the crowd went silent and all eyes were upon him.
“In a kingdom far far away, there was a princess.” Jaye’s voice rang out towards the crowd, another spotlight popped up onto a large tower. Decorated with leaves and branches as if it were a castle deep in the woods. On top of the large tower - a flaming ponyta stood. MG looked out to the crowd Jaye certainly hoped her odd behavior didn’t freak the audience out. He was sure it would be fine they’d worked hard on this after all. Jaye smiled and turned back to the audience.
“This princess had everything you could think of, servants at her command and the kingdom at her every hoof and call. However, there was rumors of a prophecy spreading through the kingdom. It seemed that she would one day have to face a creature so fierce that it would cause her to crumble.” He lowered his head, and off to the left of the stage was the dark silhouette of another pokemon. Though the faint image of blue sparks were leaving the equine form. “The princess was furious that anyone would even believe in such things and as such everyone knew her temper was high in temperature.” As he said this - fire engulfed the tower. He was glad he’d used fire resistant materials for it. MG used Inferno perfectly the red flames climbed down the tower and around her raising into the air. The heat reached off to the crowd as MG stood on her hind legs and pushed her front legs out huffing as she did so.
She vanished behind the tower as the fire continued, Jaye watched as it careful began to recede. The inferno almost seemingly going backwards as the flames fissled in an orange and black display the sizzling still filling the silence in the air. '
“This meant the princess would search far and wide for this so called creature to rid of it. Away from the kingdom. In doing so it lead her into the deep forest nearby.” Jaye pointed to the right side of the stage where MG stood around some cardboard tree’s. Their leaves lit up by the spotlight that illuminated the graceful creature. “The road was dark, but she had a way to get through this.” MG’s Fire blast was shot forward into the tree’s - lighting the cardboard alive but only a single one. Jaye smiled with relief, her control training finally paid off as the cardboard tree became a beacon and the rest remained standing. “With the new light to guide her path, the princess continue forward and finally met the one they considered a fierce creature.” Finally the shape from earlier was revealed. The blitzle happily standing tall as Roddie neighed and lifted his front legs before smashing them again towards the stage with a few sparks of electricity making their way out of his legs. “Who dares step onto my land! The creature bellowed as he charged the princess. Unwelcoming of her presence.” The sentence signified Roddie to shoot forward with a quick attack, heading straight towards MG as she pulled off to the side to avoid the quick horse.
“The princess, was faster.” MG moved forward and smacked him in the face with her tail in a tailwhip. Roddie stopped in his tracks seeming confused as he blinked and turned to face the Ponyta. The two stared each other down for a moment. As Jaye cleared his throat for the next sentence. Flipping a page of his book he looked towards the crowd.
“You are said to return to my kingdom to destroy it, I am to rid of you before that happens! The princess shouted.” MG turned to Roddie her flames crawling high. As she released a fireblast towards Roddie, he in turn used Shock wave. Normally the attack was used to paralyse an opponent, however when it hit the ball of fire the flame enlarged the electricity sparked around it in a sparkling display. After it was done, small white specks floating in the air. Causing a reaction from the crowd as Jaye turned to the two pokemon. Soon after, Roddie used charge - taking in the small specks in the air towards him to power himself up.
“I promise you I will not destroy you. The creature stated, though the princess was unsure if she could even trust him.” Roddie took a few steps forward as MG eyes him curiously. Carefully he set his snout against hers, his little electric sparks traveling through her as it made her fire flare for a moment sending shivers down her spine. Jaye hadn’t rehearsed such a thing, but he supposed it was Roddie’s way of making MG feel better. After all before they began she had been very nervous.
“How can I trust you, said the princess - she narrowed her eyes. The creature simply shook his head as there was no sure way to really trust him it would all be up to her heart.” Roddie went away from MG, starting to walk into the darkness of the cage. As MG lifted a hoof, as if not wanting him to leave there was silence among the stage for a few moments. Before she knew it, the stage was being lit up by electricity. Roddie’s earlier charge had made him able to display a shock wave most grand. Even Jaye was surprised. “It was then that our princess learned to never listen to such rumors spread around her kingdom. The Prophecy was meant, to draw the two together. For the creature, was the future king of the kingdom.” Jaye shut the book and clapped his hands. As MG joined in the sparks with her inferno. Not holding back as the fire met electricity once more - buzzing as MG waked towards Roddie to stand beside him. Once the fire and the sparks had finally set Jaye walked to the middle of the stage and pushed himself into a bow. Roddie and MG lowering their heads as well signifying the end of their performance as the crowd clapped their hands and cheered. The sparkling effects of the fire still around them as the small bits and after effects of the attacks made it seem like almost a dream. He had also managed to not burn down the stage so he could consider that, a victory.
Word count: 1199 Moves used: Inferno(x2) Shock Wave(x2) Fire Blast(x2) Tail Whip(x1) Charge(x1) and Quick Attack(x1)

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] On second thought, maybe Rhyhorn and Poochy 2's more obedient demeanor would've been more apt with sticking with a routine. It was too late to change the roster though, as he had already signed up the contest with these two Pokemon at hand. Giving an exasperated sigh, he turned to both his Electrike and Poochy 1, both of them already donning cute little outfits for the occasion. Both were brutes, to say at least, and didn't have any semblance of grace in their movements. They both have a tendency to attract attention to themselves though, so there's that. "You know what? Just wing it if you forget your parts."--- Their performance started with every lighting but the spotlight in the middle in the stage turned off. The music was rather upbeat, but solemn. Reveling from having everyone spectator's attention was his Electrike, sporting a red hood that covered his head and a basket on his mouth. Enthusiastic and lively, it took a moment for the canine to take in the view before he proceeded to fire off a Hidden Power, small white orbs of energy expelled from his body, dimly lighting the setting before lights turned on. A howl sounded from the left side of the back stage before his Mightyena eventually entered the scene from the right. His Electrike feigned ignorance to the other Pokemon, peering on to the wrong side of the stage as Poochy 1 made his way to the Electrike, almost frolicking with the beat of the music, puffs of smoke along with a pinkish aura incorporated in every step with Play Rough as stars trailed behind him. Turning around, his Electrike had to pretend being surprised, but with the perpetual smile on his face, it was rather difficult to make the spectators assume it. The next thing that happened was his Electrike firing off a fully charged Discharge, showcasing an impressive display of strength that his Mightyena had narrowly dodged. It earned a yelp and a snarl from the other canine - a natural response that would then fit the sudden increase of tempo with the music. The Mightyena would then chase after the Electric-type, anger and annoyance evident in his expression. As mischievous as he is, the Electrike would simply run away in a circle, burning the basket on its maw and throwing it at the Dark-type's direction, which was then promptly destroyed with Fire Fang. By taking the time to wind up the throw, Poochy 1 managed to chase after the Electrike in no time, pouncing at the green canine and pinning him to the ground. As soon as he immobilized the Electrike, the Mightyena turned to the audience with the expression of pure happiness one would usually find in dogs, tail wagging and all, as he sounded a bark before enclosing the two of them in a bubble of Protect. As soon as it formed, Poochy 1 would pierce his fangs on the barrier, freezing it with Ice Fang and removing the visibility with frost. Shrieks of pain could be heard from the Electrike as the Mightyena exacted his revenge for having a burning basket throw in his face. Their play fighting usually ended this way anyways, with the Dark-type nipping on the Electrike's sensitive spots to get a cry out of him. As soon as the Protect dissipated, all that was left was a thin wall of frost, which would crumble as Poochy 1 charged through it, portraying himself all proud as he puffed his chest. The Electrike behind their little screen was gone, and all that was left on the floor was the hood and the burnt remains of the basket. The Electric-type's Pokeball, previously hidden inside the basket, was haphazardly left in the scene as opposed to having it hidden. It was small enough to not get noticed, and with his Mightyena, Kyle had hoped that the Dark-type simply garnered enough attention to himself that not everyone would nitpick on their mistakes. The spotlights would dim, reminding them of the end of their short little skit. Kyle wasn't sure how everything ended up like this, having practiced an almost different performance than the one they have showed for tonight. Nevertheless, all was done and he did tell them that they could improvise should they forget the steps. MADE BY NOVA

[nospaces] [attr="class","Vgentempbox"] [attr="class","Vgentemptitle"]first round: solo performance! [attr="class","Vgentempdiv"] [break][break] "And that ends our performance round! The results will be announced at this very moment, please adjust your sightings unto the screen. Starting from the first performer all the way to the last, our judges will release their results as well as an added comment on each contestant." The results came to manifest upon the digital screen as their points were distributed. Many awe'd in wonderment, curiosity, and fear to see just who made it into the next round. As hearts volley into each contestants yellow meter, there were only four who could be chosen.[break][break] "The four contestants that will venture on into the next round will be..." Drum rolls began to sound. Silence filling the room. With the sound of a large, melodious tune the contestants were chosen. "And here are our results, those chosen to venture into the next portion of the contest are: Arceus , Alceides , Mirai Soleil , and Jaye Canterhold!" Roaring cheers sounded for the top four as claps and cries of excitement readied for the best part of all contests, the battle portion. "Thank you to all who participated and tried their hardest, we hope you take in the notes that were given to you and use them to further yourselves in honing your craft." Bluebell, aiming directly to the chosen who would enter upon the stage.[break][break] "Now let's give a round of applause to our The Four! Who will take home the ribbon of tonight's event?! Stay tuned as the battle portion will start. We'll have to fix the stage for this dual battle that is to occur at the same time, so please stay tuned until. Remember, the final two to come out victorious within this next match will have to face one another in the final round." Bluebell, giggling, would then look toward the crowd. "I bet you're all excited to see who'll be fighting against whom, huh? Well, you'll have to wait for the next round to see; though, if I were one of The Four, I sure wouldn't want Mirai Soleil as my opponent, hehe." Many were in favor of the bluenette coming out on top, but there were those who also believed Jaye Canterhold had the knack to win. [break][break] Honestly, the competition was fierce and the tide could change at any minute. Until then, the next round would begin shortly after. [attr="class","Vgentempheader"]results are in! ROY CASE [break] TOTAL SCORE » 13/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "I loved it! But, like my colleague said, the sign of an amateur was there. And the lackluster of moves utilized didn't really catch my interest. The narration took over the performance more than the combination of both Pokemon together. I wanted to see more action and combination between the duo. Next time try to make sure that the moves match with the story, more sparkles! It would have been amazing if you possessed a Dragon-Type that's for sure! Something more fierce, dangerous!"[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 4/10 [break] COMMENT » "I play video games that relate to your story. So I rocks with it, I rocks with it. But I didn't like the fact that you hit your Pokemon with Poison Sting. You should probably make sure that it's okay, poor fella."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 4/10 [break] COMMENT » "While the performance was clearly well rehersed it is riddled with the signs of an amatuer. The cotenstent put no effort into the attire for himself or his pokemon, and relied too heavily on narration for the story to make sense. I'll give points for creativity, but the performance was severly lacking in flair. They have a long way to go be worthy of truly competing on this stage."[break][break]
[break][break] Arceus [break] TOTAL SCORE » 15/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 6/10 [break] COMMENT » "The music was beautiful, it really meshed well with the performance. But you didn't possess the quality of storytelling. Had you found a balance to do both, it would have been PERFECT! It gave me Beauty & the Beast vibes, honestly, it was wonderful. But, like I said, there was lack of storytelling.[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "You ALMOST had what I was looking for, ALMOST! I wanted you to tell a story, but this is what I'm looking for as well. You need to find a balance between storytelling and performing. You did good, but not great."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 4/10 [break] COMMENT » "I give points for a flashy show, but that's all. It is good to tell a story without words, but this performance was too vague and didn't fully embrace the theme of this contest. There were some pleasant displays and interesting combinations of abilities, but it's not enough to cover the lack of emotion being displayed here today."[break][break]
[break][break] Zatka Matrick [break] TOTAL SCORE » 09/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "I felt the props overtook the performance. There was no balance, you have to find a balance and that balance wasn't there, my friend. I wanted to see more from your Pokemon and a story, but it felt the props stole both the performance and attention from the Pokemon away."[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 1/10 [break] COMMENT » "I understood the story, but...I just didn't understand it entirely. I know you were on a ship at sea, and at some points you called your Pokemon 'Vash' instead of Flash. So I was about confused there as well, my guy. I was unimpressed, there wasn't enough performance for me. Not enough in ya arsenal, you feel me? And like my girl Blue said, props stole the show and that wasn't tight."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 3/10 [break] COMMENT » "Your approach to the challenege was all wrong. This felt more like you were trying to put on a play than properly coordinate. If you have to use this many props to properly tell your story then you should either chose another one or be more creative."[break][break]
[break][break] Alceides [break] TOTAL SCORE » 19/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 8/10 [break] COMMENT » "How riveting! The combination of moves, the creation behind it. All that was missing was a story and you would've had a 10/10 from me! But for now, you sir, get an 8! And you should feel proud, but, as always, balance! You did not tell a story behind it. And that's what was missing for me."[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 6/10 [break] COMMENT » "Good performance, just like Arceus , but you didn't give me a story. Like my colleague said, balance. You have to know what's importan, the story or the performance? Obviously the performance, but had you placed a story behind it? You would've probably gotten a full 10 from me too. You're still a newbie at this, but should you work hard, son? You got a bright future of becoming a Top Coordinator. You got the stuff. Don't let Takehiro discourage you."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "You managed to convey a story, albeit a simple one, without words and in a reasonably pleasant to watch manner. However your lack of professionalism was very distracting and made it impossible for you or your pokemon to convey emotion. This isn't a game. If you continue to treat these contests with such levity then be ready to get trampled by the real coordinators who poor their blood sweat and tears into their art."[break][break]
[break][break] Mirai Soleil [break] TOTAL SCORE » 21/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 7/10 [break] COMMENT » "Beautiful, it was so...So...Beautiful! You are what we need in this industry, this coordinating gig is no joke! Honestly, you have what it takes to become a Top Coordinator. I can see that there's a star in you, and I loved the silent film approach. But, alas, I didn't fully understand what was happening after the Mawile had been freed from her imprisonment; nonetheless, you did marvelous.[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 7/10 [break] COMMENT »"Honestly, you would've had a 10/10 from me had you given us a tiny insight on what exactly the story was about. I saw the expression of despair when your Mawile became a prisoner inside that block of ice, I liked that. The performance was beautiful, no joke. Keep doin' ya thing, Queen."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 7/10 [break] COMMENT » "Tasteful costumes, emotions conveyed, some decentcreativity and a story told through actions over words. This performance was a textbook example of a fine showing. However I feel it was lacking in strength, that special punch that leaves a lasting impact on you. It was good, but not breath taking."[break][break]
[break][break] ASHLEY LEE [break] TOTAL SCORE » 14/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 4/10 [break] COMMENT » "It was great, you had everything I was looking for. But, the fact that you weren't intertwined with your Pokemon and made them do all the work? That's not how a Coordinator must act. I can tell you're an amateur, and the mere fact that you didn't participate with your Pokemon during this performance broke my heart. Like I said, the overall performance was great. The story that was told should also reflect your character, and I don't think this performance quite did that. I'm sorry."[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "I gave you a 5 because i was half feeling, half wasn't. The story was great, the moves were there. But I saw little command signal or participation from the trainer. Had you been apart of it, you would've been given a 10/10 from. Next time I want to see more out of you, you got potential. Though, sometime's you have to ask yourself, is this really all you got? Did this really portray who you, as a Coordinator, are?"[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "This was a good story with interesting and unexpected conclusion. There's beauty to be found in darkness, and it is good to see that being embraced here. Cliches aside, it is always disappointing to see a trainer sit idly by and watch their pokemon do all the work. That is how trainers may operate, but a true Coordinator would never do such a thing."[break][break]
[break][break] Jaye Canterhold [break] TOTAL SCORE » 25/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 10/10 [break] COMMENT » "Yee, doggie! That's what I'm talkin' about. You gave me what I was looking for. A story and a performance! The combination between a Blitzle and a Ponyta?! A country girl like me is all too aware of this pair. Keep up the good work kid, you got a future ahead of you!"[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 10/10 [break] COMMENT » "Exactly. This is exactly what I was looking for. You gave CUES! Cues were VERY important in this performance, and you gave me them. You don't have to say their moves when telling a story, just give cues. And I saw those cues very clearly, great job my guy. Great job."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 5/10 [break] COMMENT » "A decent story, though I feel I've made my stance on word versus action known at this point. But the show of power was noteworthy. The combination of two destructive forces like fire and electricty is different to balance and control, yet you managed. Though next time I strongly suggest memorizing your tale rather than bringing a book on stage. People may think you skipped out on rehersing."[break][break]
[break][break] Kyle Lee [break] TOTAL SCORE » 08/30 [break][break][break] HOLLY BLUE[break] SCORE » 3/10 [break] COMMENT » "I...I don't know what just happened, but I like the choice in Pokemon. Though...Are they okay? Should we get a nurse in here? I feel as though that Mightyena was going kill the Electrike."[break][break]
ADANDE[break] SCORE » 3/10 [break] COMMENT »"All I can say is? Damn. That happened, Takehiro will speak for the three of us. Take it away."[break][break]
TAKEHIRO[break] SCORE » 2/10 [break] COMMENT » "Everything about this performance was too simple. That pathetic excuse for acostume, the sub-par display and most especially the so called 'fable' being told. Two dogs fighting eachother hardly constitutes a decent story on it's own, and with only one of your maneuvers showing even remote levels of creativity this makes for a very boring routine."[break][break]
