It felt like it had been quite a while since Mirai last went on an outing with Floatzel has her walking companion. Training the new team had given her more senior members some time off, Floatzel included. But considering where they were going today, Mirai simply could not leave the Sea Weasel Pokemon out. Her partner was quite pleased to tag along of course.
Perhaps walking was not the most accurate statement. Because at the moment Mirai and Floatzel were on the back of another Pokemon, specifically Altaria, giving them a lift to today's destination. Below them was the wide blue ocean. The place they were heading to was out in the open sea.
"It shouldn't be too far now Altaria-kun. Actually I think that's it over there."
Mirai indicated to what looked like a rocky formation in the middle of the ocean. The Humming Pokemon nodded in response and began her descent on the outcrop. As they drew closer, they were finally able to make out the place Mirai wanted to explore. It was the ship graveyard that was featured in the news some time ago. Apparently there were some interesting Pokemon there. Not to mention it was sort of a "ruin" in a way. The blue haired Coordinator felt it would be an excellent place to gather material and maybe encounter something special.
After getting off Altaria, Mirai recalled her to her Pokeball. She and Floatzel took a good survey of the area. Thanks to the currents smashing them together, the ships here seemed to form an interconnected maze of sorts. It was fascinating. She couldn't wait to start looking around. Walking over to the nearest one, Mirai spotted an open hatch leading down. It seemed like a good place to start.
"It looks like we can get in through here Floatzel-kun."
The Sea Weasel Pokemon nodded and headed inside first to make sure the path was clear and not sunk underwater or anything. Mirai followed soon behind her. After reaching a certain point in the belly of the ship, Floatzel suddenly stopped, taking a good whiff of the air. It appeared they weren't alone.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] Boats were nice. Kyle wasn't much of a traveler, but he appreciated all sizes of boats, sunken or otherwise. There was a sudden urge to travel to where the the supposed ship graveyard was - big thanks to his Lapras for ferrying him all the way here. There wasn't any need of it, but the capture of his Lapras got him wanting to try out riding one through the seas. The Pokemon still wasn't used to him, though that was to be expected with every newly caught Pokemon, but it still was gentle enough not to throw him off overboard. Whether being gentle to him was simply a genetic code from her or a conscious effort from the Lapras was yet to be determined, unfortunately. He had gotten inside the ship moments earlier than Mirai and had already wandered through the corridors. A mistake would be bringing his Rockruff out. Upon realizing that they were in the middle of the sea inside an unstable and abandoned structure, the little rock pup started to panic, barking wildly and rushing for the exit. Kyle had no reason not to chase after it afterwards, knowing that the outside only led to more water. "Oh, hey. Small world, coordinator girl."His eyes immediately noticed the blue-haired girl and her Floatzel. The clanging of his hurried paws along the steel flooring came to an end when he reached the hatch. The Rockruff immediately pulled its breaks as soon as it saw the two, still traumatized by his previous experience with them before retreating back to Kyle. He ignored the anxiety ridden Rockruff for a while as he greeted Mirai. "What brings you here?"MADE BY NOVA

Floatzel's ears perked up as she heard the sound of an approaching Pokemon. Mirai silently gestured to her partner to get ready in case they get caught up in the battle. The barking noises would get closer until finally a Rockruff would appear running towards them. Behind it was its trainer who was a familiar face.
"Oh it's Kyle isn't it? What are you-"
Before Mirai could finish her sentence the Rockruff would suddenly stop and then retreat behind Kyle. She could sort of sense the anxiety in its growls and whimpers.
"Ah... this is that little one isn't it?"
Mirai tried smiling and Floatzel relaxed and put away any hostile or aggressive intentions. Ever since that time in the island she had been looking for someone to entrust Rockruff to, given its condition. Kyle was happy to oblige a trade. But it appeared the Puppy Pokemon's demeanor had yet to change.
"I'd been thinking to have a look around this place for a while now ever since I heard about it. I like old things you see and in a way these are like modern ruins? I'm not sure how to explain it. Also I was curious what sort of Pokemon made their home here."
They had not run into any other Pokemon yet so far. Maybe they just had to venture deeper into the ship. Floatzel glanced at Rockruff with a concerned expression. Several members of Mirai's team were recruited after a battle with the Sea Weasel Pokemon but this was the first time one of them had difficulty putting the past aside and warming up to her.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "He's still wild, yeah," he mentioned, giving a proper description of the Rockruff entrusted to him. Eyes went to the puppy growling behind his leg, the temptation to shake his head at his reaction trying to get past his self control. "Haven't seen him act this way until now though. What exactly did you do to him anyways?" His sentence ended with a chuckle. It was clear that Kyle was amused at his own Pokemon's distress just by being in the presence of the two. Hands went to his hips as he listened, before he held out a hand and casually pointed at Mirai. "You get that feeling too?" The rare show of enthusiasm came from Kyle, albeit short and sweet. "Ruins of Alph was getting kind of boring." Placing his hands back, he turned his neck and observed the interior. "I like the way you worded it - 'modern ruins'. I might use that some time."As he got more time away from his room and his games, the more he appreciated locations that would have been great in a video game setting. The ship graveyard were one of those. The feel in it simply screamed late game underwater dungeon with a Kraken as a boss. The only difference was that this was real life and bosses would not be around here. "Say, wanna go treasure hunting?" he invited, turning back to Mirai. "I'm pretty sure everything's either waterlogged or destroyed anyways, but eh." He gave a shrug, clearly not interested with satisfactory results. He still wanted the experience of doing it either way. MADE BY NOVA

"It was a regular old battle I swear. Well, I suppose Rockruff-kun's pack was hunting us and they were quite ferocious, but we ended up turning the tables. Perhaps that damaged its confidence."
Mirai's experience on that island was unforgettable, but the full story was a tale for another time. She was pleased to hear that Kyle fancied himself a ruin explorer too. Good company on an adventure was hard to come by so this was a welcome development. He mentioned something about treasure hunting. Not exactly what she was after but they would be exploring the ship graveyard just the same anyway.
"Sure why not? Let's go!"
Mirai didn't want to just stand around talking and so she took the lead, walking on ahead. As they moved along, seeing Rockruff again made her recall she had a certain someone with her today too and reached for Floette's Pokeball to let her out. The Single Bloom Pokemon appeared with a flourish and a tiny flash of light.
"Floette-kun is doing well by the way. As you can see, she evolved. She's nearly ready to make her debut in a Contest, if the theme of the next one permits."
Floette waved happily at Kyle, recognizing him. To be honest Mirai had no idea how long they had been together. Her time with Rockruff was quite brief so there really wasn't a chance for him to warm up to her.
Their stroll eventually took them to a closed hatch that Mirai opened carefully. It was a rather big room with the middle area filled with water. It was impossible to say how deep it was but thankfully it was possible to just go around it. She wasn't planning on getting wet today. As they passed by to the side, both Floatzel and Floette alerted her to the presence of something in the water. At first it was just a dorsal fin that emerged but it soon dived under again. After a few more seconds, something jumped out and tried to chomp at Floette who was floating nearby.
"Floette-kun, Vine Whip!"
The Single Bloom Pokemon extended a pair of vines to repel the Wild Pokemon's assault, smacking it away with super effective damage. The attacker would turn out to be a Sharpedo, a rather ferocious Pokemon. It wasn't going to be fended off so easily. Eyes locking on to Floette, the Brutal Pokemon shrouded itself with water and accelerated at her at high speed. She barely had time to block the attack with her vines, though she still felt the impact.
"Quite a feisty one, but I think we can handle it. Misty Terrain, then finish it with Moonblast!"
With a wave of Floette's flower, a mysterious pink mist began to cover the watery area, confusing the hostile Sharpedo for a moment. While it was distracted, the Single Bloom Pokemon would open fire with a full power Moonblast that would overwhelm the Brutal Pokemon and knock it out in one hit. Sharpedo were fast and had great offenses, but in terms of durability, they weren't going to stand up to any super effective attacks like that.
"Floette-kun's definitely doing great. If I'm lucky, I meet even be able to raise her further soon. I truly appreciate that you entrusted her to me."

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Ah, I guess that explains it."Kyle has never encountered a pack of canine Pokemon in the wild before, although that might be because a cohesive unit such as a pack wouldn't actively target a lone traveler unless they were desperate enough. Now that he recalled his previous experiences with his Pokemon before he caught them, most of them were either loners or had just gotten lost from their families. He didn't have problems with Mirai taking the lead. "Alright." Had it been him, he probably would drag her on each uninteresting nook and cranny of the place, make her spend an indefinite amount of time doing nothing or something as he would desperately look for any kind of souvenir from the place. A Fairy-type Pokemon was brought out by the coordinator amid their walk, bringing Kyle to look at the Pokemon closely. "Oh hey, she even evolved," he chirped, smiling at the Pokemon as she waved. "I knew she'd fit someone like you." She had been a Pokemon he caught out of his whims when he needed to use an excess Safari Ball, but at least he found her a home. It didn't seem like she was missing Kyle that much too, which meant that she was fine with Mirai. "I'll be watching the next contest closely then," he teased. Going down the hatch, everything seemed fine until a Sharpedo went ahead and attacked. Mirai managed to fend off the attack, showing off Floette's capabilities as a fighter. The expression of gratitude was appreciated, but Kyle couldn't help but humble himself. "Nah, I should be the one thanking you." He picked up his Rockruff, who still was cowering from both Mirai and the large pool of water. "I've been wanting to get one of these."The exchange was interrupted by the appearance of a Gyarados. Large, dangerous and highly aggressive, Kyle supposed that there was no peaceful resolution to this encounter. It wasn't like he planned for one anyways. Carrying his Rockruff with a single arm, he quickly picked out a Pokeball to face the Atrocious Pokemon. "Glaceon, Quick Attack into Double-Edge."As soon as his Pokemon materialized, the Glaceon quickly pushed himself against the floor and threw himself at the Gyarados without fear. The Water-type snapped his fangs at it, hitting nothing but the air with the Ice-type's increased speed bringing a miscalculations to his timing. The small figure eventually collided with the serpent's head, managing to push him back slightly. Stuck in midair, the Glaceon found himself unable to do much when the Gyarados eventually recovered from the knock back and summoned a Twister. A quick "Blizzard," from Kyle got him back to action. The Glaceon immediately dropped the temperature around him before summoning a flurry of snow and cold around him, mixing in with the Twister and amplifying its effects to the Gyarados right in front of the Ice-type. Glaceon eventually got blown by the twister back at them while the Gyarados retreated back to the seas. Though weakened, the Glaceon could at least still stand on all fours after the impact. The temperature within the room did not normalize quickly, though it did not freeze up either from the saline content of the water. "We should probably leave this area soon."Defeated Gyarados MADE BY NOVA

Kyle was right. If dangerous Pokemon like Gyarados appeared in this area then it was best to move on. The Atrocious Pokemon showing up did allow Mirai to deduce that the pool of water there was really deep and connected out to sea. It was good to know in case something went awry during their exploration.
"Yes we shouldn't stick around here for too long."
Creeping carefully around the water and on to the next area, the motley crew pressed on. The next place was a long passageway lined with doors. At the very end was a bigger door that probably led to another large section of the ship. Seeing all the cabins there, Mirai had an amusing thought.
"How about we each take a side and inspect the rooms? You did mention something about "treasure hunting" earlier. We might find something interesting. I'll take the left."
The first three or so cabins would turn out to be duds. There was a janitor's closet, a washroom, and an empty storeroom that was half flooded on one end. Recalling their earlier encounter, Mirai didn't bother checking the water lest something nasty pop out and attack them again. The fourth room was a little more promising. It was simple in design but was undoubtedly a bunk room possibly for the crew of the ship. A chair and table were turned over on the side and various articles of cloth were scattered about. But what caught her attention the most was a blanket covering something on the bunk bed on one side of the room. It was a bit bulky and was almost as if someone was sleeping under it. She briefly gestured to Floette to check it out. The Single Bloom Pokemon nodded and carefully drifted close and poked the blanket with her flower.
The blanket shook slightly. It definitely shook. Something was indeed under there and Mirai gave the signal for Floette to pull the sheet off altogether. Floette honestly didn't think it was a good idea but Mirai's orders took priority. With one swift motion she tugged at the blanket, revealing what was lurking under it. It was a Pokemon after all. Pink, plump and actually even taller than Mirai, the Slowking would stir from its slumber, waking up due to its blanket suddenly being taken. It stared at them, still half asleep and taking a moment to register what was happening.
Mirai however was quite excited. Slowking was a rare Pokemon local to Johto and this was her first time seeing one in person. This encounter by itself was already a treasure, but she'd be disappointed in herself if she didn't attempt to capture it.
"Slowking, sorry for waking you, but Floette-kun and I are looking for a battle. We're hoping you'd oblige."
Floette understood Mirai's intentions and echoed her sentiments to the Royal Pokemon. It still seemed a bit confused at what was going on, but in the end it somewhat understood that it needed to fight. Behind Mirai, Floatzel silently cheered Floette on. The room was small. It was hard to say who had the advantage in this situation. Slowking weren't big on mobility so there was a good chance this enclosed location made it easier for it to fight.
"First let's set up our advantage. Grassy Terrain, followed by Vine Whip!"
The entire cabin went green as Floette changed the terrain. There really was no where to run. Slowking attempted to retaliate with Water Pulse to try and blow back Floette's vines, but the terrain-boosted attack cut through and smacked the Royal Pokemon around for super effective damage. Realizing that it wasn't going to win in a battle of brute force, Slowking's eyes glowed blue activating Disable and Floette's vines suddenly went limp. Afterwards it let out a huge yawn that cause the Single Bloom Pokemon to suddenly get drowsy.
"Ah, not good. Floette-kun, change it up! Misty Terrain!"
The cabin's environment changed again, this time getting shrouded in a pink mist. The effects of the new terrain eliminated Floette's drowsiness, causing Slowking to panic that its strategy was not working. Desperate, it launched itself at Floette to try and hit her with Zen Headbutt, its forhead glowing as it approached.
"Let's end it Floette-kun! Petal Dance!"
Spinning around, the Single Bloom Pokemon unleashed a flurry of petals that overpowered Slowking and sent it crashing back into its bunk. Weakened and unable to get back up, Mirai reached for Great Ball and tossed it at the Royal Pokemon to try and capture it.

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] He recalled the battered Glaceon back to his Pokeball. The poor Ice-type did have a knack of overworking himself beyond his capacity, and would most likely attack the next wild Pokemon that would charge at them should he not stop him before it happens. It should be fine, he supposed. He still has four other Pokemon to protect him in case of an emergency anyways. Rubbing his sides until they have exited the room, Kyle was glad to reach the long corridor that welcomed them, not only for bringing them to more appropriate temperatures, but also for the possibilities of treasure hunting, which Mirai then mentioned. A straight corridor of rooms waiting to be explored and looted was one of his major things he liked on certain games. Then again, this wasn't a game where the items he could recover would prove to be useful in any way. "I'll take the right then."As Mirai started to search each door one by one, Kyle did the same. The only difference was that he took more time than the coordinator to properly search each room. It probably was just his luck that the first one he got into was a bedroom. It looked more like a small barracks with its bunk beds though. Chests were in each bunk bed, that when Kyle tried to pry open, was surprisingly unlocked. "Oh hey, I got something." Kyle would begin to open the chest before noticing that he had no response from his Rockruff. Turning behind him, he saw the Rock-type putting up a brave front against a Water-type. A Dewgong popped out of a window, it's lithe body managing to fit nicely in the frame. "Oi, you should warn me when this happens," he scolded his Rockruff and releasing his Leafeon all in one casual movement. At the arrival of the Grass-type, the Rockruff ran back to Kyle at his whistle. When the Leafeon turned at the same instance, Kyle simply motioned his Pokemon to the Dewgong, indicating to attack the Pokemon. A flurry of leaves came out of the Grass-type, cutting the Dewgong with the attack. The wild Pokemon's attention, however, wasn't on its assailant, but on the trainer that was checking the chest by the bunk bed. A loud cry came out, clearly not because of the pain, but as a warning to Kyle. The ranger's attention only went to the wild Pokemon when it fired shards of ice towards his attention, with his Rockruff pushing his trainer away from the container, but not before he had opened it. The chest revealed a Pokemon egg, with the Dewgong growing more aggressive as it was revealed. It coated itself with water soon afterwards, aiming itself at Kyle. "Leafeon!" Using Covet, the Grass-type swatted the Dewgong away, pushing its trajectory away from his trainer until it crashed on the wall, shock waves reverberating throughout the corridor through its thin walls. If the vibrations weren't enough, the clanging that resulted from the crash should be enough racket. Weakened but still determined, the Dewgong proceeded to growl at them still despite the obvious disadvantage it was facing. "Fine, we're leaving." With his heart rate normalizing as the fight slowed down, Kyle calmly walked away from the room, his Rockruff following closely with his Leafeon's eyes on the Dewgong as they exited the room. No attacks from the Dewgong came after they have left. Defeated Dewgong MADE BY NOVA

Mirai watched as the ball holding the captured Slowking stopped shaking. She then happily walked over to pick it up as Floette and Floatzel looked on anxiously. Today they made a new friend.
"That was a great performance Floette-kun. I'm counting on you to keep it up. To be honest it's still quite early but we've already made the trip worthwhile. I wonder how Kyle is doing."
Stepping out of the cabin she could see that Kyle was still a bit further back and was taking his time looking. He was a true blue treasure hunter and Mirai would let him have his fun. She would continue to check the last few rooms on her side but there was nothing else of note. And so when she was done reached the end of the passageway, she would wait beside the hatch leading to the next area until Kyle was done with his side.
Floatzel and Floette would pass the time by playing a light game of tag. Mirai couldn't help but notice that despite the Sea Weasel Pokemon's advantage in ability and experience, the Single Bloom Pokemon was no slouch either in their little game. Floatzel was still "winning" but Floette was certainly giving her a workout. Mirai smiled, feeling blessed with such talented partners.
When Kyle would finally finish and catch up with her, she'd brag a little, showing off the ball containing her capture. She didn't call it out though as she was sure it was still resting from the battle they had.
"I got lucky today and found a "treasure" back there. How did your search go?"

[googlefont=Roboto Condensed] "Awful."He uttered the word with clear distaste. Being inhibited by his conscience to simply ignore the Dewgong and its nest to continue rummaging through the room was enough to kill Kyle's enthusiasm with the entire thing. It didn't mean that he would be giving up so soon on the first try, however. "Well, that was only the first room I explored still," he explained, trying to remain positive in this situation. "Second room can't be that bad."Mirai seemed to have found something that interested her in the previous cabin she was in. Kyle would have wanted to share the same sentiments, but that was only to come only after he had found his own souvenir. The ship did not seem too ancient to find actual artifacts regardless. Best he could think of were little trinkets from ten to twenty years before or something like that. Reaching for the knob of the door of the adjacent room, Kyle found himself bewildered to see nothing but a hole on the floor, exposing the treacherous waters from below to the room he was in. Disturbances in the water were normal in the sea, but when he saw bubbles coming out, he knew he had to run away back into the corridor. "Leafeon! Magical Leaf!"The Leafeon had stayed outside with the Rockruff when Kyle went to check the door, but still close enough to act immediately when Kyle called for him. A cloud of brightly colored leaves were expelled from the Leafeon's body, floating and descending slowly around him before unleashing them to the Water-type that would come out of the hole. A shrill cry from the Huntail could be heard as the preemptive attack managed to hit it. Its fearsome nature got it to charge forward for an attack regardless of whether or not it had been hurt, lunging forward to plant a bite on the Grass-type's shoulder. "Another." A close ranged Magical Leaf was enough to finally drive it off, slinking back to the hole and swimming to the depths of the sea once more. "I think I got the unlucky side," he blurted out to Mirai, whose temperament seemed to oppose Kyle's at that moment. Defeated Huntail MADE BY NOVA

Mirai toned down her expression upon hearing Kyle wasn't having too much luck. She didn't want to look too insensitive. While waiting for him earlier she could hear the sounds of battling too. Perhaps it was against Pokemon that didn't really interest him.
"Ah that's too bad. Well I guess there's still the next area to explore. When you're finished checking the last few rooms, let's move on."
Mirai was a bit excited herself and took a peek behind the hatch at the end of the passageway while waiting for Kyle. It was a stairway leading up, probably to the upper decks of the ship. Although she couldn't say for sure without actually going up the steps. When Kyle was ready to move on, she once again led the way. Floette who could simply float up went on ahead while Floatzel was just a few steps in front of Mirai.
The end of the stairs appeared to be another passageway. On the right were portholes and a quick look through them would tell her that they were in fact on the deck level of the ship. The hatch at the end of the passageway should lead outside. On the left was another stairway leading up, likely to the bridge. She turned to address Kyle.
"How about you pick where we go this time?"
